• Five Nights at Freddy's. The indie horror game where animatronics from a pizzaria try to murder you

Well, my maiden voyage into the greasy halls of Freddy's has gotten me through the first three nights without incident. It's 1 AM now, and I have a feeling in my gut that's telling me not to push my luck. 3 nights without losing is pretty good, I think. The one thing I'm glad I picked up that I never noticed watching people play this on Youtube is how valuable audio cues are. Unless I'm extremely lucky, each animatronic has a (or several?) audio cues that play (most of the time?) when they move. When you've confirmed the location of all the animatronics, you can save yourself some power by waiting until you hear a suspicious noise before checking the laptop again and wasting more power. I'm also beginning to really get to the meat of what makes this game gut-wrenchingly unsettling, even to seasoned horror-game players. Most of the horror games we've seen up until now allow the player to gather information without penalty. In Amnesia, nothing stops you from lurking in a shadow long enough to learn the patrol patterns of the spooky flesh monsters, and that offers the player a large degree of control over the situation, which strongly dampens fear. Freddy's, however, penalizes you for knowing. It punishes you for having the gall to even try to control. With limited power, you essentially force the player to give up power to use it (pun not intended, but appreciated in retrospect). The simple act of trying to find out if you're safe or not can be your undoing- it turns one's desire for control over the situation in upon itself. The result? A sickening atmosphere of paranoia and genuine fear that drapes over you like a miasma. And it's because it puts such a price upon information. The weight that each little decision carries- whether it be opening your laptop for a split second to check some screens, or flicking the lights on for just one tiny second- is what breathes the spirit of horror into this game. tl;dr: I like this game a lot it's super cool.
found this on a vid
Okay, at night 4, the Gaurd on the phone tells you he might not be able to give you a message the next night [night 5], you can hear banging and other strange noises while listening, now, his messages might have been recorded previously, because on night 1, he says he is finishing up his week, which means he can't be on guard because you already are and you know you are alone, now, at the end of the call on night 4, you hear the same childish music you do when the power goes out and Freddy finds you, and some screeching, he also says "tonight has been trouble, for me anyways" and he asks you to do him a favor and check in on the Backstage camera, he claims he "always was curious to what was in those empty mask heads" now on night 4 if you do look on the camera in the back room, you will most likely see the bunny character up close to the camera just staring at you, now, that is the same pose as the pause in this video at 4 something, There are 2 points where it says "It's Me" the first is just a text that flashes for a split second with the background normal, but the second time it goes black with the face of the bunny staring at you like in the cameras in night 4, now, the theory is that the previous security guard [the one on the phone] got caught and shoved into a rabbit suit before you started working there. if you think it makes sense, because he states in night 1 "I am finishing up this week" and he is the one who also tells you that the robots get more active as the week progresses, so maybe on his night 4 or 5 he runs out of power, or he runs out of the office and is about to be killed, so before its too late, he decides to give you the message for night 4, now, the other part is that some of the suits have the spirits of former security guards, because some of the robots have human teeth in their mouths, and the guard told you "the only part of you that will ever see the life of day again would be your teeth and eyeballs, that pop out the front of the mask" So to put it in short, the Rabbit is a robot, but is also possessed by the spirit of the guard that leaves you messages, which is also why the rabbit strikes more than any other robot.•
TCB, "IT'S ME" appears in several places in the game's scenes; typically during gameplay and after currently-unknown conditions (possibly random) are met. The sign in front of Pirate Cove changes from "Out of order" to "IT'S ME!" sometimes. The happy posters of Bonnie, Chica, and Freddy disappear and on the walls it says "IT'S ME" where each poster would be. Other details change, too, from time to time, apparently at random. Also, a thought. From Wikipedia's article on the frontal lobe:
The executive function of the frontal lobes involve the ability to recognize future consequences resulting from current actions, to choose between good and bad actions (or better and best), override and suppress socially unacceptable responses, and determine similarities and differences between things or events. The frontal lobes also play an important part in retaining longer term memories which are not task-based. These are often memories associated with emotions derived from input from the brain's limbic system. The frontal lobe modifies those emotions to generally fit socially acceptable norms.
What if the first night call is a hint: The animatronics are "alive" (AI, haunted, possessed by dead children/serial killers, whatever) but they lack functions associated with the frontal lobe? I mean, when talking about robots, it's a pretty low goal to shoot for because they are typically mindless amoral automatons without the ability to meaningfully predict the distant future, but they could be incompletely-finished/simulated/etc. beings, lacking these primary skills and traits. And, really, the frontal lobe and the powers it gives us are traditionally what we considered defining human traits; it's what made us human. (Never mind the developing field of animal intelligence, for this situation.)
i still think the former guard is involved in the ITS ME signs [editline]20th August 2014[/editline] my avatar needs freddifying

and slowly the game designer's true purpose reveals itself, as everybody develops that weird niche furry fetish for inanimate objects like stuffed animals and pool toys
I swear to god this is actually some intense viral marketing reverse psychology campaign by chuck e. cheese
I swear to god this is actually some intense viral marketing reverse psychology campaign by chuck e. cheese
Given a lot of people's reaction to this game, it would have been better to use this to market some weird robot strip club instead :v:
are you implying that isn't chuck e. cheese
I'd love to see a finished model! Already a lot of people have been making mock GMOD videos of FNAF, so many cool things could be done in SFM. Maybe someone could animate a video of the bite incident.
Just got gifted the game, are there any way to change the resolution?
Just got gifted the game, are there any way to change the resolution?
Unfortunately, no. You'll have to play in windowed mode via Alt+Enter.
I can hear fugtrup already pissing himself in excitement
This is not helping.. Getting proportions to match is not going well. I have no idea what I'm going to do when it comes to the masks. The endoskeleton shouldn't be too hard to model though.
