But what would there BE to steal at Fort Knox?
The United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox holds 4,578 metric tons (5,046.3 short tons) of gold bullion (147.2 million oz. troy).

I'm wrong though, it appears. It does get "much greater" than Fort Knox. I've learned that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has a vault deep underground containing the largest gold depository in the world.

Not that either of those can be taken seriously, you would need to evacuate the gold by the literal truck load :v:
Wish the little speech they gave to the civilians matched the Heat bank speech.
This game should have "mutators" like Left 4 Dead 2 did, that'd be neat.
Off hand I've got:
Crowd Control = All SWAT are Shields and Tasers
Special Forces = All SWAT are Cloakers
One Hit Wonder = Everyone dies in one shot, even you. Reduced cops.
Classic / Zerg = Cops use rush tactics like in Payday
Assault Squad = Constant Assault since the Police arrive
And finally the biggest modifier (practically a whole separate gamemode):
Realism = Cops take 3 times as long to arrive, SWAT does as well. You only have as much armour as your law enforcement equivalent, and virtually no health (one bullet without armour will bring you down). Cops are 'timid' and will not enter the 'combat zone', only return fire from behind their vehicles. SWAT will enter the 'combat zone' but only to seek hostages. SWAT will attempt to make you surrender (done by crouching and looking straight down), but will fire at you if your reticle hovers over one of them. They will be much more likely to surrender if caught off-guard (such as approached from behind and aimed at). No Assaults, however killing of any kind will garner harsher responses, ultimately ending in 'kill-teams' being sent in to put you down once and for all.

Realism is all well and good, but that really is not what payday is about, not only would it take huge amounts of time to make an implement, you'd have to learn to play an entirely separate game in effect, and honestly it just does not sound like fun, there wouldn't be a lot of variation, and if it's completely realistic, then chances are you wouldn't be able to actually pull of a heist

Hm, that idea was well received in the last thread. Ah well, some people want a tactical experience and some people just wanna run and gun. I figured 2 modes would please both parties.
I just hope they release Career Criminal edition on PS3 in the UK. The Blueprints and Crime.Net discount could be useful.

Airsoft guns, you can clearly see the battery compartment at the stock of that M4.

Well yeah. You think they're gonna get real guns?

Flash news: Real guns are expensive.
So pre-ordering the Criminal editions seems worth it, might as well pre order it since Payday was actually good. Also I just realized that this game makes me feel like it's a bank robbery simulation, I actually laughed at if for sometime when i realized it.
-snip wrong thread, whoopsies-
prepurchased the basic version, as I'm not that rich to get the criminal edition!
Just a tip for everyone. Look around on tf2outpost and such. I found the Career criminal edition for 14 team fortress 2 keys which equals out to €28. He said he has lots of them, so if you're planning on buying, you could try that. Bought 3 career criminal editions from him. He also has the regular edition for 9 keys (€18). Not trying to advertise here, just helping to save a few bucks. If you want it even cheaper, you can buy the keys through the steam community market.

Thanks for the heads up.
Got Payday 2 Criminal Edition for £20 instead of the £30 it usually costs. Cheaper than the standard edition too!

No problem, almost every game that's sold in 4-packs is found cheaper through trading.

you can't rob the federal reserve.
the gold vault is 80 ft below street level, and 30 ft below the subway tunnels.
it is entirely underwater. only one elevator in/out.
... i took a trip there, it was pretty neat actually.

We'll find a way.
Is there a storyline to this game? Cause Payday 2 looks awesome but I never played the first one. Don't really have the money spared to afford both at the moment.

So our options are finding a way into an underground and underwater vault, or fighting off the US Army?
Somehow I doubt Bain has either of those in mind :v:

Bigass drill, then scuba suits. Maybe some of those guns that work underwater also. Or something more awesome and implausible like explosives.
Never forget

shipping containers are 40 feet long, if you rammed 2 into the ground you'd make your own shaft :v:
