Is it actually possible to rob a bank in post-9/11 America without being turned to dust before you even got a chance to glance at a vault?
The thought appeared in my head after countless of hours playing First World Bank over the months, so I've read up on banks a little. Practical bank security is absolutely jaw-dropping, and bank robbers are often just people walking into the bank, leaving a threatening note to the teller and walking out with a small sum of money without anyone inside the bank being any wiser.
Not to mention that modern vaults and safes are also reinforced to the point that the amount of explosives needed to blow them open would likely create unwanted attention and run the risk of harming the building to the point of collapse. Stuff like being unable to open the vault from inside the bank itself and instead you'd need access to a control panel which operates the vault doors miles away from the bank itself with a code that changes daily, extensive biometric technology which makes non-violent methods of gaining access, even by the most experienced safe hackers and code crackers, nearly impossible, etc all make modern bank robbery a really, really shitty career.
did you know taking pens from banks is technically bank robbing
true story

To the best of my knowledge, robbing armored cars has been the preferred alternative, probably since the 90's.

Rob a bank and 9/11 in the same post.
We're already at Defcon 2.
did you know taking pens from banks is technically bank robbing
true story
Imagine that as a heist.
All four of them walking in, shooting up the place.
And leaving with just a bag full of pens.

crypto's e3 adventure
alright: so i didn't actually play payday (the line was long, they were letting people play the entire heist or everyone got downed [and all the players sucked]), but i stood in line
so at the end of each heist, each player chooses a card, once everyone picks, they get turned over and you get the item on the card, i saw masks, materials (color your guns maybe?), and guns.
they dropped the thousands from the money, so a heist will give you like 1,000 dollars, not 1,000k dollars. there's an offshore account and spending money, those are separate.
it looked really really good though.

I'm going to assume that offshore account is like a way of measuring how much you've made in your entire payday 2 playtime, and spending money is a portion of the offshore money that you make from each heist?

It seems plausible, but it added money separately.
All the money the players got from challenges/beating heist etc was added to the offshore account, then spending money was bumped by like 2500 dollars. who knows

brb, making paper mache mask clones and doing it
Also anyone down for a game right now?

I'm guessing it's that the offshore account is for your class upgrades, and spending money is for masks/guns, intel, and such.
Because they went across the screen pretty fast;

Looks like the armor is not class based, sweet.

In order to unlock some of the armors, you need to acquire them via skill tree.
In order to unlock some of the armors, you need to acquire them via skill tree.
Well, unlocks were like that in Payday 1 too

"The ammo bag is a portable bag..."
"... Once placed it cannot be moved..."
Well, at least we saw that the medic box can be dropped and picked back up.
Thankfully they changed the Police Assault flash on the side of the screen. That bright pink shit flashing in the corner was annoying in the previous videos.
So do a lot of people still play Payday? How hard is it to find a game these days?
So do a lot of people still play Payday? How hard is it to find a game these days?
It isn't really too hard to find a game at the moment but I bet when Payday 2 gets close to the date, Payday 1 may be silent.

Instead of setting up the drill and getting into the vault they crack the pens out of the chain constraints
High security shit right there fellas

Well it had a shit load of people recently due to the 75% off, would end up joining a lobby and getting matched with three Rep 0 players. May of dropped now that a number of newbies have given up.
I wouldn't be shocked though, a lot of the newbies weren't the brightest. I had one gang of three newbies that were insanely brave, we got all the way to the end of Heat Street on the third go, we got screwed over by a bulldozer.
The other team of 3 newbies stood in the lobby out in the open during the escape of FWB and got slaughtered. At least I got the challenge for being the only survivor completed.
Damn, shame you couldn't pull off the Noob-Lube challenge.

MY GOD. They're actually gonna change the escape sequences depending on how you did.
[editline]14th June 2013[/editline]
Also, intimidating cops to be on your side, diablo 2-like skilltrees, better team-ai and a system that actually makes you slower depending on what your carrying. They're making the wait for the beta worse and worse.

Guys! you've got to plant the charges under the counter. The granite top will shield the pens from damage but the shockwave should crack the holders. Now get to it!
So is there any way to actually fix the steam overlay bug?
Switching it to xp compatibility works, but adds these two weird white marks at the top corners of my screen
The fact that "See You At The Safehouse" is still in Payday 2 makes me excited as fuck.

Hmm, so it's actually got a decent playercount? I was thinking of putting it back on.

Well in Payday 2 there's an actual safe house :P
