There is no NDA in open beta.
Have you guys read the terms of acceptance when you try to install the beta?
I guess it wasn't enforced then, but there was a NDA in there, so don't blame me if I thought it was in use :(

So, 9 people who didn't even bother reading the terms of use then.
By the way, how did you extract the .bundle's? The file structure of them from what I've seen is pretty fucked up but they're all indexed to specific .bundle's so it shouldn't be that hard to find specific things.
The Payday Bundle File Tool also works with Payday 2. However, finding specific files is still no easy task as the file names are all obfuscated.
I'm late. yay.
Keep a look out for this thread next Monday. I'll put another three up for grabs.
I don't get it. The game's not sacred. I don't give a fuck what people do single player or locally. Or even if they dig through files.
If I was charged for every game I've unpacked or ripped files from; I'd be one broke motherfucker.

Still? I don't really get why they feel the need to obfuscate them the only thing it'll do is stop your average joe from messing around with it but more experienced people, the people that they should probably worry about, will mess about with it.
I hate to bring this up again, but some of their devs are real babies, they were legitimately upset when the ARG came around and people instinctively poked around in the files. I just think they don't 'get it'. PC gamers are going to look around in your game's files, that's just how it is.

You can't develop/release a game in such a way that people won't start looking into it's files.
Personally, I don't care. If I will ever release a game(as a game developer) in some future(hopefully), I wouldn't really mind if some people started to look around in the files and maybe even release some stuff for the game on their own.
A person in contact with Overkill relayed this information to me. I'd love to have direct confirmation from Overkill themselves, but this sounds all too in line with their previous (and baffling) remarks made on regards to modding. Apparently, the crux of the matter is the Cloaker, of all things. I guess he's not in the beta (I didn't know this. I had the beta for a whopping day, and I hadn't seen a single Tazer yet either). However, showing that the Cloaker is in the game grossly overstepped some boundary I wasn't privy to:
But, in fairness, I should point out that it's not just Overkill propagating this bizarre paranoia. Literally the first reply on the Steam forums to my meth cook video was to inform me that I'm cheating. The community has already long established the tone that fosters this mindset.
They really need to grow up and start acting professional with things like this, the "Our stance on cheaters" thing was just a huge mess and now they are going out and personally threatening peoples steam accounts over small fun things like this?
They make great games and I really want to like them but things like this just makes me want to slap them right across their faces. If they keep doing this I really think you get it noticed and make a big deal about it so they can face a huge PR backlash so they can understand how stupid this is and learn from it.

The beta was released around 22nd of July though, meanwhile that tweet was on 4-6th of August.
They probably shouldn't include an NDA in the terms of use if they don't mean it.
But I digress, the game is fun and I shouldn't care about a non-existing NDA.

Add Almir or Bo and ask them. They're pretty cool about accepting friend requests.

ill send them a message
youre best sending almir a email though, he doesnt read steam that often!
As far as I know the game can't detect cheats on its own, you have to get reported or admit to hacking to get banned.
Though hopefully they will actually investigate the reports, or ask for proof, otherwise any butthurt baby could get your steam account banned, and that's pretty shitty.
Just like the Tripwire forums, there seems to be a community of hardline fanboys who think everyone has to play the game the way they do or else.
These idiots seem to think that having to grind jewelry heist smash&grabs for cards to get weapon mods is somehow superior to grinding smash&grabs for levels to unlock mods. They also think spending money on skill points is a good idea, along with a few other incredibly stupid ideas.
If only Overkill didn't listen to the ~ELITE~ T$E faggots and other fanboys... and they weren't such babies about people getting into the files and having a bit of fun with their own gameplay.
The game would also turn less into a combat grindfest on higher difficulties.

Some people are particularly jealous of their work and do not like it being tampered with. Messing around with the game files is a privilege, not a right, and while I don't personally agree with their policy at all I still respect it because it's their work, and your only right is to enjoy it like they meant for you to.
This has nothing to do with being unprofessional. Over-protective, maybe.
If I made a game and somebody poked around in the files or swapped some models, I'd be happy because they're passionate about the game. There's no need to punish anyone for being a fan.

However, threatening to permanently ban people over touching their files, or having a catch-all for hacking that includes even discussion about it, is childish and unprofessional.
However, threatening to permanently ban people over touching their files, or having a catch-all for hacking that includes even discussion about it, is childish and unprofessional.
Why? It's in their rights to do so, whether you're editing game files to cheat or just for good fun, you aren't allowed to regardless. Again, you can say they're being overprotective or too zealous, this has nothing to do with being unprofessional

What baffles me the most is that OVERKILL has a great sense of humor and they're pretty laid back (even with cheating in PAYDAY 1, I think). But now, when all the beta hacking comes to light people make them out to be nazis.
But then again, if that means I'll be banned from playing Payday 2-and, if really unlucky, Steam itself after paying possibly hundreds of dollars using the service to receive games and other content-just because I talked something that involved Payday cheaters/cheating, yeah, I guess I'd be pissed, too.

you would only be banned if there was actual proof you were cheating. talking about cheats wouldnt get you banned

I think the sentry's really good. Especially on Rats Day 2 if you decide to take back the meth.
