The anti-cheat is basically just Overkill saying "If someone catches you and reports you, you will be banned".
Though I agree with BloodFox, I've never seen a hacker personally.

they're not really playing it off of the Trine 2 demo. It's an MP crack that makes Steam believe that you're playing another game, most likely a demo of one, so it's perceived as being a legit copy. Last time I saw it used, it was when the Duke Nukem Forever demo came out and people were using that as a way to play another game that I can't 100% remember but I know that it happened.
