This is so true it hurts
90% of my drops have been useless, due to the really fucking expensive mask customisation and the drop system giving me infinite mods for weapons I don't own, cannot own due to level or money restrictions or simply do not use
then after that I have to get a mortgage to buy said mod
My silencer costs more than a cheapish house :v
-feedback-
I really think you should actually post this on steam forums or where they actually listen to feedback (in more polite manner of course). Since it's beta I hope they will be able to adress these concerns.
if this is a major problem now, what have the people in the closed beta been doing for months
I really think you should actually post this on steam forums or where they actually listen to feedback (in more polite manner ofcourse). Since it's beta I hope they will be able to adress these concerns.
Based on the track record of the stream forums you'd think that'd be the last place any dev would look for balanced and constructive feedback.
so I keep freaking out that everything's so expensive, me and a friend just ran the mission where you have to transport cocaine to a van and then onto a boat and got a payout of 50k, this was on the easiest modifier, its really not all that hard to get cash for the things you want if you just grind a few missions
It'd be nice if you could buy basic stuff, suppressors, shorter barrels for concealment, basic sights and all that, and then you had better versions of those and the fancier stuff like scopes, bigger mags and grips/stocks as drops only.
Only gripes so far
Everything is more expensive than the money I'm pulling in (I do a 1.1 million dollar heist and you have the fucking nerve to just slip me 15k, bullshit)
The HUD is inferior in every way to the PAYDAY 1 HUD, the circles just get confusing and even more confusing when its on the right side of the screen, what dumbass HUD has ever been on the right rather than the left
PAYDAY 1 had the PERFECT system, I don't even know what character I'm playing as when I join the game because there isn't even a goddamn picture of yourself
Server browser sucks too, as far as I can tell there are no filters and actually joining a server is like a carnival minigame
A server browser would have been alright...
which class gets c4 for opening the safes? if they are reseting i might spec into that but i looked at the trees and cant see which one it is unless its the alt mode on trip mines
which class gets c4 for opening the safes? if they are reseting i might spec into that but i looked at the trees and cant see which one it is unless its the alt mode on trip mines
That would be technician I think

technician, right a the end of the tree
Server browser sucks too, as far as I can tell there are no filters and actually joining a server is like a carnival minigame
There is a "Filter" button in the top-right corner of the screen that allows for distance filtering and friends-only filtering. :) Its kinda hard to spot though.
Did I imagine it when it said tripwires could be used to open safes? I'm sure the tutorial mentions the Technician's tripwire bombs could be used to open something.
Glad I got to Level 22 yesterday.
Did I imagine it when it said tripwires could be used to open safes? Is anyone needing a player, as I really don't want to join some randomers online that either quit or run off and die?
When the game officially launches will this beta act as a preload and it won't have to download as much later
[t]http://i.minus.com/i93DeZIJAWyuK.png[/t]
Pimp squad yo
Jelly of that armor
I want to play and get more loot but its going to be wiped so soon its not even worth it; I do want to hangout with some FP heisters though, I'm sick of pubs
I hate my download speed sometimes, it's been going for 3 hours now. Fucking 500kb/s.
I would like to get more masks.
Becomes quite frustrating after a while to get a stock for a gun that I don't own.
I'm really reluctant to play right now because I know any progress I make will just be lost as soon as it updates. Seriously, they'll be doing a stat reset when the game officially launches. Why not just implement the security measures now, if they can find the people that have been modding then ban them, and not punish the reset of us?
meanwhile over in the land of taggart my game's brightness is broke

very peculiar
It seems that every 10 levels new heists will be unlocked. When I hit 20 it said new heists available.
Anyone know if you can disable the chromatic aberration? It gives me headaches.
It seems that every 10 levels new heists will be unlocked. When I hit 20 it said new heists available.
Wait what.
I thought that only 4 heists were avaliable in the beta.
OK, so this is going to be a bit of a rant or something I guess and everyone will immediately jump on me and tell me how wrong I am about everything, but fuck you I say what I want. >:(
After a few hours with the beta... I'm not terribly impressed. At all. It's neat in some regards but it's just not very good or even much better than Payday 1. It fixes some of 1's problems but introduces a whole slew of its own. The main problem, I think, is that Payday 2's innovations are primarily additive rather than altering. Basically, the core game is exactly the same thing as Payday 1, only with a whole bunch of new systems sitting on top. The guns feel better in terms of sound and appearance, but they still feel comically impotent against cops. (The starter assault rifle can't even kill with a headshot, wtf) And all the other problems that plagued Payday 1 are still present, including, but not limited to, suicidal civilians, stupidly aggressive and large waves of police, impossible aimbot-sprinting-inhuman police aim, doctor/ammo bags that cannot be moved, etc.
And those are just the problems that carry over from Payday 1. The systems they've introduced on top add tons of issues of their own. First of all, and this is a basic complaint, everything costs way too damn much. Leveling up isn't exciting because all you unlock is the ability to purchase new guns and skills, none of which you will be able to afford until you grind out a few more missions. Which also makes me wonder what the hell the point of the offshore account is... as I understand it, the idea is that it lets you pull of million-dollar heists without suddenly making you stupidly rich. But... isn't that the fucking point? Why am I pulling these heists for pocket change? And maybe I could understand it if guns and modifications were realistically priced, but there's nothing "realistic" about a $100000 shotgun.
Not to mention the game takes EVERY opportunity to sap your already meager reserves of cash. Want more skills? Pay up. Want to respec? Pay up. And then rebuy those skills. Want modifications that you found? Pay up. Want to take off and then reuse those mods? Pay up. Accidentally shoot civilians that still insist of running around in the middle of police assaults? That's deducted directly from your spending money. Lose a mission? Haha, fuck you, you're not just not getting paid, we're going to go ahead a take a hefty amount of your spending money as well. Because fuck you. Fuckkk yooouuuu.
And then there's the Payday system in which you randomly gain the ability to buy a weapon mod, mask, or decorative flourish every mission. Not a terrible idea, but oh wait yes it is. First of all, some of the weapon mods are downright necessary for certain playstyles. If you want to go stealth, just start praying to the Random Number God that the game decides to grant you a silencer. And then, just to kick you in the teeth, once you've found a silencer, you're going to have to grind several more missions to afford your newfound $100000 silencer. Because FUCK. YOU. Honestly this is the least rewarding progression system anyone has ever designed ever and it boggles me that someone thought this was a good idea.
What would make a lot more sense would be always having the ability to buy every weapon mod, but also having a chance to find a free one after every mission. Restricting cosmetics to the RNG seems fine to me, but it'd still be better if you didn't have to fucking buy them afterwards.
And then there's CrimeNet. Neat... idea... I guess? In practice it's just an extremely inconvenient server browser. The location of a mission on the map has nothing to do with difficulty or geography of the mission or anything so it is literally just a server browser that is a pain in the ass to navigate. What is the point? Why not just give us a list like all sensible games have been doing for over a decade?
At its very core, it's still a fun game. If you liked Payday 1, you'll probably like this too. But it feels like a missed opportunity to fix Payday 1's multitudinous problems and instead opts to introduce a ton of new ones.
[editline]25th July 2013[/editline]
oh but the one thing that was improved is the music. the music in Payday 1 was fucking incredible.
the music in Payday 2 is... fucking transcendent.
So everything I was afraid of is actually true.
I always wondered how do they not see the problems when a random guy sees them by just reading news about it and watching trailers.
Oh well, I loved the first game so I know I'll love this one too.
Wait what.
I thought that only 4 heists were avaliable in the beta.
For the full game I guess. Unlocked Rats at 10 but nothing afterwards :v:
I don't want to play the beta too much because I know everything I obtain will eventually be gone.
Yay it finished at last but everyone I know is already playing together. :v:
I don't want to play the beta too much because I know everything I obtain will eventually be gone.
I played a shit ton yesterday and today but now I am going to wait until the first update pops up before resuming.
