feinting is unclassy and those who does it should be burned
I agree wholeheartedly. I have a friend that does it, and I've taken to doing it to him in real life. Go to hit him, wait for him to flinch and them pimp slap him across the face. I hope he understands my pain.
I only use feints if there's a Vanguard/Knight turtling behind their large 2 handed weapons or someone else is attempting to do it to me. Otherwise I refrain from it.
I will say, however that the number of people that abuse the fact that swings do full damage no matter how far along they are has grown enormously on duel servers. I used to be pretty good, now I can't win shit because so many people are bending over backwards and pulling random insta-hit bullshit. It's feigning for the new age.
huh, i've only encountered two guys who have used this technique. they did it in a pattern or over did it, so it was easy to counter attack
I only use feints if there's a Vanguard/Knight turtling behind their large 2 handed weapons or someone else is attempting to do it to me. Once you get someone on the back foot its really hard for them to recover, they're losing stamina with every parry, and you're not losing anything. Eventually they run out and get stumbled, allowing you to hit them to death. Feints are wholly unnecessary.
I find Man at Arms to be the best class for me because of the dodge. Saves my ass and I love pissing off Knights/Vanguards who do a big head-on charge and then I just sidestep.
Not trying to reveal anything gamebreaking or anything.. but the thrusting dagger can 2-hit vanguards and 3-hit knights if you know what you're doing as MaA. The rage is delicious
this is hilarious i have to practice his methods
The ending... This makes me want to play again. Not that i'll ever match his skills. :(
I love that duck dodge look-down technique. I used to use that all the time. It's hilarious because a lot of people still don't know about it so doing it successfully once will sometimes throw someone off.
I've never seen that many people fall for a duck
new wave of players from the steam sale.
Shields are really good for teamplay but thats about it.
Shields are good if you're being gang-banged Seriously, they've gotten me out of a lot of shit
Ducking really isnt a problem for me since most of my combos are me with a halberd luring people to some point of lower ground than me, then jumping off and doing a overhead swing while looking down. I usually do this while backpedaling so when I shift forward to do the strike if the guy isnt paying attention he will get a halberd blade over his shield and into his skull. I remember doing this one time and I guess the guy thought I would try to side step and do a horizontal strike, so he ducked and well....... that jumping overhead strike just plastered him into the ground.
Shields are really good for teamplay but thats about it.
How many times I've saved teammates with the Oil pot from almost certain doom, a shield wouldn't have helped me there. But each has its uses.
Forgive my stupidity, but after all this time playing Chivalry I still don't know what mousedragging is, can anyone explain?
I believe Shara explains it somewhere in this video Basically, it's moving the mouse to take advantage of the real-time weapon mechanics to delay a strike or force it to hit faster, to throw off your opponent's timing.
Feinting and archers in duel mode are the only things that annoy me in this game. Feinting is just so cheap sometimes, though if you overuse it it's easy to counter.
Forgive my stupidity, but after all this time playing Chivalry I still don't know what mousedragging is, can anyone explain?
You can rotate your character as quickly as your mouse sensitivity will allow. Regularly, you face an enemy and start to swing, and your opponent has time to prepare for this by blocking. Mousedragging is when you make sure that, for instance while swinging from right to left, you move your mouse to the right, keeping your sword away from your enemy. He will block early most likely, and then you move your mouse in the opposite direction towards your enemy to land the end of your attack on him in instant rotation. [editline]23rd July 2013[/editline] This is similar to why some players look like helicopters in Free-For-All. High mouse sensitivity, start swinging at a foe, totally change direction in a flash to hit the unsuspecting guy behind you.
I remember that Vanguards, with the second heavy sword, could look down while swinging down and instantly do tons of damage quicker than most people can react.

It really helps with blocks because you can turn super fast to your opponents' swing and then block.
During the reign of feinting, I did not hear a single argument for it's use being fair other than "Get better at the game and feint too idiot".
I played chivalry competitively and feinting was pretty much the only way to get round people's blocks beyond doing some slightly shady things. Now with feinting practically useless, people have resorted to doing look-up 180 overheads (which look as ridiculous as they sound) to instantly hit people Feinting needed a few tweaks (it was definitely too powerful), the new feint change has lowered the skill cap for chivalry pretty dramatically Most of the people you would see complaining on the forums were the competitive players, and a lot of them are arrogant twats (hence 'get better noob'), but the current feint change has basically made them useless in comp play
The biggest difference now is that you can only do "flash feints" meaning that you can only feint at the very beginning of winding up an attack. Before you could feint really late into windup, almost to the point where it looks like you are swinging with some weapons. The 2 handed swords and stabs were the worst offenders. Feinting is still good competitively, just don't expect to get much use in team play though as it was pretty limited in team battles to begin with. In team battles people don't pay as much attention to feinting, its mostly effective in smaller battles like 1v1s and 1v2s.
Any else felt that one handed weapons aren't popular nowadays? I go as Knight with a saber or whatever and no shield, for some reason it suits my playing style as I like having nice armour/health but dislike slow 2 handed weapons. Archer is good too, I pull out my saber in close combat and take on Vanguards/Knights whatever, unless there is like 5 of them then I run away and scream for help.
feinting is when you don't feel like playing the game anymore and you just want to win instantly
Its kinda true but a good player will punish you for over using feints. But like 99% of the playerbase won't, even clan players. Here's some anecdotal evidence by yours truly. I sometimes play a style I call feint & shield, I feel like its more effective than it should be.

How/Why is feinting broken? I haven't played this game since its release.
How/Why is feinting broken? I haven't played this game since its release.
With a lot of weapons it translates to "Do you have your crystal ball ready? If not, get damaged."
With a lot of weapons it translates to "Do you have your crystal ball ready? If not, get damaged."
Why do people waste time trying to block? That's Stallion's least favorite time... It falls into the category of 'time not spent killing things dead'.
