Oh the topic of hackers, a friend and I met someone in the arena yesterday who we think was using some sort of hack. There was only the two of us when the supposed hacker joined, and at first he didn't even come out into the arena. Then he just stood there and let himself be attacked. He blocked the odd strike here and there, but most attacks should have connected and instead just went right through him. He acted like it surprised him, but I don't really believe it did. One time, my friend also took damage although the other guy hadn't even moved. After a few minutes he left and said he was going to see if it was the same on other servers.

Did some rounds on a duel server in FFA. I was asking to try 2 vs me. It was a knight + MAA. I was MAA with the quarterstaff. and oh man i've beaten them up 2x! And it felt pretty awesome, i just can't do anything else then mastering the quarterstaff. It was really a great fight.

I'm glad these guys are doing well, they made a good game, aside from some long-lasting bugs. Most happy about the Mod Tools being released at some point. This is a game that cries out for Mods.
I so wish the quarterstaff has more speed and more flexibility. And that it has some unique moves that are hard to combine. I can already see that makes it much more better, since the staff hasn't the most damage at all and it's a blunt weapon. It still misses something....
Got a weird bug after getting hit by a knight, so I was forced into a T-pose (however I was able to attack) My friend got a pic: [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/1117163295130957966/27DB918C813A165E4C7798B21A91FCC2AC93764A/[/t]
the chat sums up chivalry fairly well

This is one of those games where you're terrible no matter how much you practise, and no matter how much you change your playstyle. Fuck it
This is one of those games where you're terrible no matter how much you practise, and no matter how much you change your playstyle. Fuck it
It's near impossible to play if you have any sort of latency issues (like me...) Do you have these? Because otherwise I don' see why you can't enjoy it. You just can't spam block or swing. It requires you to think of what attack you will use, whether you feint or kick. It's a lot more strategic than standard FPS/ FP games. Is this why you don't like it?
nothing beats winning against longsword knights with nothing but a stick
Indeed it is, But most of the people can't take with the staff because they have actually no idea when they need to block. The weakness with the staff is that it has almost no reach. Also, Never try against a vanguard with the staff, They will almost eventually win the fight, Because of their long reach weapons.
The thing about a lot of staff players is that they rely heavily on the insane speed and 95% canceling rate. If you can block them properly, they'll crumble immediately.
Ugh, I tried Duelling for the first time. I now know why everyone hates feinting. Seriously, it's just a load of bullshit.
The thing about a lot of staff players is that they rely heavily on the insane speed and 95% canceling rate. Using the timing of the weapon is just a matter of practice. But yeah you just need a little luck that players aren't that good at blocking the staff.

I steal tactics from everyone I see who happens to be doing well, combine them, then get smashed by the dude who spams M1, or that guy who does something you can't block reliably. I posted the above in rage, but I still stick to what I said.
Welp Only thing I need is the warbow, and I have unlocked everything The problem being I'm a shit archer, and it feels as if the game hates me

I'm interested in buying this game and giving it a go, but from what I've heard from friends apparently it's pretty hostile towards new players.
You just need to get the blocking mechanics down, everything else is a cakewalk.
I'm interested in buying this game and giving it a go, but from what I've heard from friends apparently it's pretty hostile towards new players.
It's hostile towards vanguards that spam m1 and teamkill As long as you realize that there is more than one type of attack you'll be fine
Alright, thanks for the info. I'll do a little research on some of the mechanics and stuff and see if it's something I could get the hang of.
it's pretty easy to play. Just don't feint, because that pisses people off.
You kinda have to because if you don't you will get feinted to death once people figure out you can block.
I love non-feint fights now, they're so intense. Just that back and forth feels so god damn cinematic. When someone actually slips up and you get a hit in it's so much more satisfying than spazzing out and lopping someone's head off within the first 2 seconds of the fight. If you can find someone else who won't use feints it's just great. I'll still use feints against people who use feints though. Edit: It's even better if you add in some really intense music over the top like some viking metal or something. The constant shout-spam goes pretty damn well with it.
Feint fights are just like 'Feint-feint-feint dead'
For the love of god! the staff's combos is just as slow as every other weapon, while the staff is lightest primary weapon. Where the hell is the combospeed?! It's like i'm playing slowmotion with the stick!
I've been playing Javelin archer a lot in duel mode, but it seems like everyone manages to cut directly through my shield even if I'm blocking.
I've been playing Javelin archer a lot in duel mode, but it seems like everyone manages to cut directly through my shield even if I'm blocking.
Happens with every shield, in this game even a dagger is a more reliable defence.
play in third person so the shield doesn't obstruct your view and you can easily see where to aim it to stop the weapon from hitting you
Wow I just saw someone who was rank 50 and had clocked over 1400 hours in the game. He has played more in the last two weeks than I have since release.
