God damn this game had the potential to be so fucking fun, yet half the fucking population in this game seems to only exist to abuse whatever thing they can.
People on the internet cry about games being dumbed down then when they see a game like chivalry that actually has the potential to be fun they just go and find whatever is messed up or broken and abuse it to hell and back.
People comnplain about how the blocking got ruined, when theyre the ones who had to force fucking torn banner to dumb it down into a barrier ability since people play games to win these days, not to have fun. We have people fucking with the real time animations, everyone abusing the hell out of whatever is broken that patch, and its because were so fucking obsessed with winning that everyone ruins something great that couldve been.
I mean god damn, I played against a vanguard who had a simple great sword and we fucking dueled hardcore using the game mechanics as the developers intended, not doing stupid fucking spins or leaning their player model strange angles or abusing a weapon or anything. We used parries, feints, kicks, pretty much fucking everything and to be honest I lost but god damn if it wasnt fun. I happily told that guy good fight, because it was one.
But no, people have to win because winning is everything in our fucking society so we have these fuckheads running around finding new ways to break the game and forcing Torn Banner to patch and try to fix whatever theyre abusing as quickly as possible in a never ending cycle.

How do you desynch the animations on the maul? I saw a guy having a score of like 50/10 because his maul hit as soon as the animation started.
He was probably doing a look down overhead.
Start the attack and look down.
It will hit as soon as it goes into release which makes it hard to block since its literally inside your face.
That or he was breaking his animations by repeatedly feinting. The server can get confused after a player feints the same attack a bunch of times. Sometimes when the real attack comes it will play the wrong animation, or play it late, or it might not even have an animation at all.

I think the feint spam thing is a symptom of desyncing, not a cause. I asked a guy who appeared to be doing that how he still had stamina and he said he only feinted once.
Now that you can only feint at the start of your windup the amount of desyncs has dropped drastically.
It happens pretty rarely now, although there are a few people that know how to force it :/

They annoy you, so you do it -> You annoy someone else, so they do it; eventually , everyone is doing it and the game ceases to be about ability, but about who can swing first.

To be honest, though, I feel like this issue is only really found on US servers. I've only encountered one guy blatantly pulling this shit over here in europe.

That's a silly claim with a silly analogy. There is nothing so gamebreaking that it can't be parried, and quickscoping in CoD is slow and impractical.

There are swings which are unparriable, on account of beginning inside you.
That's the point of these exploits, to position your weapon in such a way that it cannot be parried.

But you missed the point of what I was arguing, I even listed feinting as one of the things that ISN'T a problem. Feinting is a part of the game, and I honestly have no issues with it.

it wasn't only crouched overheads, they were overheads and swings, you went down then see the maul be in the position of your lifeless body
my solution to that is find another server
i'm not trying to be rude/dismissive, i mean it's actually what i do. there are so many servers and (at least on my end) usually i find at least fifty below ~80 ping, so it seems it's always possible to find a game without a glitch abuser
what i tend to do is play on my recent favorite server until i find someone too good for my patience level or an abuser, then find a random game

Man, it's awful when you have a good shieldwall going and some moron starts doing horizontal swings instead of stabs or overhaeds.
I was playing Dark Forest and we were on the last of the Queen's family. I started yelling shieldwall and a bunch of knights and men-at-arms showed up to help. Behind us were two crossbowmen and two vanguards with spears, in case the wall is opened. The first wave of Mason's come and are slaughtered on the wall, but when the second wave comes this moron knight starts swinging wildly with his longsword. He takes my head off and scatters the rest of the wall. Mason's pour into the gap and the Queen's family is massacred. When we yelled at him about it he just said "You shoudn't of been in the way". Prick.

are you complaining about mouse dragging and leanbacks?
I don't even see dragging/leaning as a problem (besides dragging stabs which makes no sense at all) since one you know about them, they can generally be countered/avoided. The only thing I can be sure that I will hate as long as it exists are feints.
If you were to remove swing manipulation this game would have no skill ceiling. Every fight would just have 2 guys feinting each other to get hits in because they'd be literally no other way if they are both competent at blocking.

It's so god damn hard to find a good fight nowadays. And most clan guys I meet use the same bullshit tactics, I may have said shit about feinting before, but you know what, it's not nearly as bad as when people somehow magically delay their attacks. Now on the other hand it's annoying as fuck when people spam the feint on you and some attack past your blocks regardless. It seems like that's been happening more often now as these patches come by. One last thing that pisses me off to no end is the fact I can't stun someone when they're in mid attack anymore, removing that encourages people to spam because there's no real penalty. Sure it may still be there, but it's not the same since hardly anyone ever gets punished for making a dumb move anymore. I can't even recall how many times recently I managed to hit someone mid attack and they still hit me anyways.

It depends on the person delaying their attacks, most of the time it's easy to block, but some people manage to use it to their advantage and come into servers with god awful pings, making it nearly impossible to block. That's what makes those delays bullshit in the first place.

it's the ping not the delaying then.
stopping someone from dragging is pretty simple anyways. just kick them, side step the drag, or attack before they hit.
It's a combination, some guys got called out on that stuff before and they tell everyone to deal with it because they're apparently better. The community for this game is quite atrocious.

That's a problem with pings and connectivity then and not dragging/delaying. The same thing will happen with normal swings if someone has a high enough ping. You get hit by attacks that should have missed, or get hit by attacks you don't even see. That's why I try to always join servers where the ping is less than 50-75, rather than the usual maximum of 100 I would use in pretty much every other game. It's also the reason I will vote-kick people when they have high pings (high depending on the average ping of the server). I know it's kind of an asshole move since not everyone has decent internet, but ping actually plays a pretty important role in a game like this.
Shields/parries need to be completely serversided imo
You shouldn't be allowed to hit the lag ghost of an MaA that dodged either
I am considering buying this, but after hearing of all the exploits I am quite scared.
