people banning archers
i know you probably mean all the classic duels, but it's a lot more fun to duel in FFA
Archers have no place in duel, it's a class designed around getting kills without actually "fighting"
The expansion's 14.99 USD. I'll find the source.

Yeah... not feeling it. Not since the man game is still buggy and unrefined.
And it's still something based of of bloody Deadliest Warrior, not a great brand name.
chivalry has over a million players? i mean that's pretty fantastic if it's true but i don't ever remember hearing those kinds of numbers.
also they really should release the info regarding the six warriors already, the trailer only shows samurai and spartans. that's also a load of bollocks, there should have way more. possible future updates i guess. i want to know if i can beat people to death using a fish again like i did on the xbla game.
here's what i think we'll get (in addition to spartans and samurai):
roman legion
vikings
mongols
... native americans? would be pretty neat.
also hoping for full-blown character/weapon customization like the regular game.
edit: ah, i see they've sold 1.2m copies. congrats.
buggy and unrefined? they're a pretty low-budget group, it's not like they have all the time and money in the world. I haven't seen many bugs at all, in fact, and it's about as refined as it can get. Pretty much the only thing wrong with it at this point is the wonky balancing that needs fixing, along with some various exploits.

It's great of them but I think I'll pass on that one.
I think the MAA is the most overused and broken class right now. It's so damn annoying fighting these guys, like it's not even fun for me.
Fucking christ, groups of people occupying a server by kicking anyone who joins really piss me off, there should really be something that stops people from doing that shit
I think the MAA is the most overused and broken class right now. It's so damn annoying fighting these guys, like it's not even fun for me.
I think the whole problem with MAA is that they force you to make errors when you fight. You attack he dodges out and dodges back in, causing you to have to recovery parry, when he will then back out or dodge out again. You'll lose stamina from missing an attack, recovery parrying, and from blocking his attack. And yet the MAA is still in complete control of the battle, if you made any mistake on top of that you'd also be lower on health. The worst part is after this exchange is over you literally cannot do anything to chase after him because he can run away and repeat the whole process again.
There is no real way to fight an MAA, you can only really kill them if they make a big mistake, such as falling for a feint when they should have dodged instead of parried. Or running out of stamina completely and not running away. That or using something very long or very fast to hit trade with them. Such as a greatsword, any of the spears, or a norse sword.
The only tactic I have managed to use against MAAs good at that was to trick him by ducking under his swing when they dodge in for the slash, because most MAAs seem to be too focused on getting a quick hit in and ducking out, so it throws them off when you duck instead of block and you can more easily wind up a slash and hit them right after they attack.
One guy was so infuriated he rage quit after that, he was literally like 8-0 in the server and I guess he really wanted to win without dying.
The problem with that strategy is that you have to mix it with regular parrying otherwise the guy will catch on and it won't work at all, so it's very hard to pull off.
Then there's also the "stab him with a fast sword while he dodges in" strategy which is ridiculously hard to time right.
Basically it's not impossible, but fighting any decent MAA puts everyone else at a massive disadvantage.
I can never see the appeal of duel, your dueling skills are not necessarily transferable when it comes to playing team battles, and the wait times in the duel servers can be agonizing.
Then on top of that the best players are generally just using some glitchy attack like that damn claymore thrust.
Dueling in FFA server is sort of fun though because when you die you can go straight back without needing to use a menu
stunning shield MAAs doesn't work either since they can dodge while dazed

only way i see to efficiently take out MAA is to rush them.

Dueling servers are pretty good for 1v1s with a friend since you don't have to start your own server, just join a duel server and select your friend, and you don't have to worry about dicks interrupting your duels.
That's a good use, yeah. Just pubbing duels game me cancer last time I tried it though.
Great way to quickly find imbalances and exploits I guess, though :v:

Luckily a lot of MaAs will panic dodge and then you can hit them

To me duels are the game
Pub TO is a clusterfuck and generally has less skilled players
Pub TO is fun as fuck for me since I can literally take on multiple opponents at once if they don't get lucky and sandwich/surround me, which makes me feel amazing. I typically ride the top spot in TO half the time.
It's hilarious when someone swings at you while surrounded and you duck it, causing them to chop their mate's head off who was behind you.
pub ffa > all

The best thing about it for me is, all the tryhards are in duel servers.
Even better is that MAA's can dodge out of staggering. TB needs to get the dildo out of their ass and fix this shit. We don't need customization...save that for when your fucking game is no longer broken.
when I play MAA I don't dodge in and attack, usually I bait an attack
I like to dodge a swing to the right, then wind up my own slash from the right and turn it into the enemy as he turns his weapon to follow me, and as my hit lands, I move in closer into the wake of his swing
I play MAA, and I never dodge because it's a waste of stamina, and it's cheap.

It feels like you're the biggest badass fighter in some medieval movie
it's amazing
especially when you keep your awareness of 2-3 enemies, and then do something like block an attack from behind just because you heard and felt it coming, riposte into a different enemy, and then combo chop the original attacker
You might as well play another class if you don't dodge, it's the only advantage to playing MAA other than the slight speed bonus.
Hardly, things like the fire pot are incredibly useful; not to mention that you can overwhelm an opponent easily.
I never dodge either, but that's more due to the fact that I never remember its a thing when fighting.
You might as well play another class if you don't dodge, it's the only advantage to playing MAA other than the slight speed bonus.
No.
Speed bonuses that allow you to circle your enemy, as well as the ability to use sabers with Holy Water make it a more than fun class to play. I use a lot when I play LTS or CTF because of the speed bonuses; not to mention the strafing speed in either multiple or 1v1 combat.
So I played a little bit of Deadliest Warrior at PAX and it looks like the "nations" are not team but just classes so you have red samurais/spartans fighting against blue samurais/spartans
I didn't look at the loadouts but samurais feel like a combination of maa and archer (You have a katana and a bow) while spartans are more like vanguards with shields and long spears
1) do the spartans get their kopis, and do the shields have bashing capabilities beyond the javelin!archer/flail!knight's shield thrust? i.e. do we get to smack enemies around a la 300?
2) what are the red and blue teams labeled as for team selection if not Samurais/Sparta nor Agatha/Mason?
3) how heretical do blue-wearing Spartans look?
4) any hints about the other four warring faction classes?

I only gave it a quick glance sorry. I might be mistaken about some things since I only played it for like 2 minutes and ran away
1)I think so, only played as samurai myself
2)I think teams were "Red" and "Blue" but I must be mistaken
3) Not too bad
4)There were 4 classes with 2 being locked.

Oh god, i'm already OP as shit with a bow, but giving me a katana?
Im sorry in advance.

That's an ideal TO setting.
A real TO setting is more like:
You are surrounded by 2-3 enemies, and as you go to block an attack from behind and kill all of them in one glorious motion, some spastic vanguard teammate of yours trundles in left-clicking like a madman, smacking you in the bum. Then an archer on your side shoots you in the kidney, and an archer on their side shoots you in the lung. Then one of the dudes you were fighting stabs you and you die.
