Whoever came up with this customization update should be lynched
I'd settle for a clientside option to disable it though.
Oh I guess automerge doesn't work w/ older posts
The customisation would be fine if they didn't have colurs like, say, yellow available. You end up with special snowflakes who refuse to conform to team colours other than white and black.
I only have like four hours of playtime on this game and I have no idea who the hell I'm suppose to hit. This was after customization was added. Don't have enough experience to tell people by the mesh yet, any way to disable the customization?
No way to turn it off, unfortunately. The way I've found is when in doubt for the people who refuse to actually have team colours: White = Agatha, Black = Mason.

I actually have a white color scheme for my Agatha MAA, but I use matching colors instead of stupid fucking bright red trim + logo that some people like to have

Unfortunately dark blues and purples look black in shaded areas :|
I hate acrobats.
The people that dance around untouchable and get five of your team chasing after him instead of the objective.

[editline]26th September 2013[/editline]

It shouldn't give you Veteran helmets or increase your global XP in any way.

Pretty shitty but it gets the job done, uses TheFeckless' UE3 SDK modified for Chivalry

I was trying to votekick a guy for having a pony name, when I initiated the vote the server glitched and passed the vote immediately. I suspect it was the work of God.
Also, I just found this gem for those that say swing manipulation is exploiting:
Comparing it to the ability to manipulate your swings is silly, because that's a completely intended mechanic that gives no real numerical advantage over a player not dragging their swings.
Well, I went to a duel server since I haven't dueled in months.
I think I'll go somewhere where the animations actually match up with the hits, thanks.

I mousedrag Claymore overhead combos for ultimate skill
Can you give me a better description than that? Are you unable to join or do you get no unlocks after spawning?
EDIT I just got a friend to test and it works fine
I'm typing it in and hitting enter and precisely shit all happens.

"open 71.180.139.197:2350"
In case I somehow mistyped the IP before.
Try again, I'm willing to bet it's just a typo. And try quickly because I'm about to turn off my computer.

I totally play like this, it's wonderful

Even better when you get behind the Mason spawn in the corpse cart map once they take the first checkpoint

Honestly, if you have five people chasing after somebody dancing out of danger then it's your team's fault, not his.

I'm not talking about chasing him, I'm talking about the fuckers that buzz around you darting in and out of range like an epileptic mosquito.

I've managed to unlock most of the weapons legitimately, but honestly if I had to do it again I would just join an unlock server. I have no interest in grinding.

Letting swing manipulation stay in the game adds quite a bit to the learning curve. There isn't even much of a way to see that people are doing it either, so for a brand new player, the lack of visual cues makes it impossible to learn about (unless you read the forums or someone tells you about it). When you watch recorded games, someone who is doing looks like they are hacking because they are attacking so fast.
This reminds me of Gunz: The Duel and the whole K-style debate. At first the devs did nothing to stop it and just called it "emergent gameplay". Player numbers dropped like a rock. The new Gunz game has sworn they will not allow it to happen again. There is a reason these kinds of things don't usually work. Last remarkable bit of "emergent gameplay" I saw that actually helped a game was Tribes and the "skiing" mechanic. In the newer games its actually built into the game.

More of a learning curve is good.
What needs to be added is demo recording and first person spectate so you can see what other people are doing.
Also, without swing manipulation the game would just become increasingly slower the better people got at parrying.

Make parrying faster but have the block be shorter and make feints cost less/no stamina.

Feinting until the other guy screws up would be very dull.
Feinting until the other guy screws up would be very dull.
Better than the current situation where you either know about swing manipulation or you don't. Damn near impossible to block some of the swings because the few visual cues there are to work with are not accurate. It's a game of reach weapons and manipulation now.
when it comes down to it, swing manipulation is a major part of the game - weapon traces and so on
"realtime swings", as TB calls them, are a core feature
swinging a weapon and being able to alter its trajectory fluidly is just fantastic, much better than the static hack and slash-esque animations that would otherwise be in place, you'd end up with melee weapons as complex as those secondaries/tertiaries in other fps games which shoot a short hitscan projectile along with an animation
some extreme drags might seem bullshit at first, but I haven't heard of any which are impractical to block (generally, move while parrying - towards where the weapon should be in cases of large swings, to catch the swing early). I can't say the same about feinting as it is now - with some of the faster weapons it comes down entirely to chance and your ability to remember what specific people do (and again chancing that they actually live up to those predictions)
personally, if they were to fix any core weapon mechanic it would be to minimise the kinds of animation desyncs that occur occasionally as well as eliminate exploits like instant hits because of the butt of a long polearm's handle extending forward before it is even swung

this. so much this
being able to play back fights from any angle at any game speed would be phenomenal
Someone should really make a Star Wars mod for this.
it'd definitely suit the kinds of damage you can do with a sword moving a couple of millimetres per second
it'd definitely suit the kinds of damage you can do with a sword moving a couple of millimetres per second
When I see someone blindly sprinting forward without noticing me I run in front of them and decelerate a swing so it looks like they're running into it
Someone should really make a Star Wars mod for this.
this and someone needs to remake helm's deep.
For those of you having trouble with mousedragging helicopter guys, play MaA. With MaA you can dodge out of the shitfest before it happens, then while they're swinging at air parry dodge back in (parry then immediately dodge, not the other way around). If timed and angled correctly, you should have screwed their timing, be point blank ready to fuck them with a lookdown overhead and they should be shitting their pants. If they panic parry after the initial hit they're dead.

so
lightsaber = instagib norse sword? spooky.
I've invented a new unit for measuring OPness. CSCs or Claymore Stab Combos. For example, crossbow archers are 10 CSCs.
The best thing about this game is just dancing around someone and killing them with a single uninterrupted chain of attacks then watching them quit silently and go home a broken man.
