looks way better than their previous videos still unhappy with dlc being worked on before fixing the main game's steamworks friend-joining
Oh god is that a gun Please no
Oh god is that a gun Please no
it's clearly a flintlock meaning one-shot and then a reload i'm sure the pirate would only get 3 bullets max anyway and the ninja can do a dodge roll, i'm sure that gun sucks anyway unless you're standing perfectly still
Oh man rolls and wolverine claws I know what class I'm gonna play
flintlock cant be any better than the crossbow.
If I recall, flintlock one-shots anything, but have HORRIBLE accuracy and spread, bad enough that there's even a small chance to miss at point blank. And takes an eternity to reload. So its like a pocket javelin or something.
The people who overuse the feint mechanic piss me off.
The people who overuse the feint mechanic piss me off.
All they need to do is reduce the damage the 2nd hit does. I can't believe they haven't thought of it already tbh.

Well, if they do a PvK2, flintlocks did almost no damage, the idea was that you slowly plinked your enemy to death with the massive amount of ammo you had.
Game just updated, could it be ... [sp]bug fixes[/sp]? [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] They optimized the game, I get 50fps at places instead of the usual 30-20 [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] Also dragging seems quicker and more responsive [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] they touched up the overhead hitboxes, i have a harder time hitting the locks on marlick's keep now.

I tried playing yesterday and it felt like crap. Though my friend mentioned that it feels so much better for him now. Thing is, it doesn't feel smooth for me. It feels as though my FPS plummets just as I get into a fight, when it doesn't. Maybe things are just happening so fast that I can't react quickly enough, but I don't really believe that.
It could take several hours to reload, it'd still be stupid if could instakill/do massive amounts of damage and be undodgeable
Random firing delay would be the best way to handle it. Flintlocks were extremely prone to misfiring, and sometimes the shot would only go off a good second or two after you pull the trigger. That'd be the best way to have it be a fair and balanced weapon, and would stop people from simply using it to point blank other people. [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] Assuming they get that part right, I don't see why it shouldn't be a one shot kill. If it's hard to aim and it has a firing delay a one shot kill wouldn't be the end of the world. Wouldn't be any more annoying that crossbows or zweihanders

You must hate the fundamental nature of physical interactions then, better write the universe an angry letter! It's almost impossible replicate a musket misfire, the subtle conditions that cause misfires are almost impossible to prevent and predict. Flintlock misfires are inherently random IRL and they happen on about 50% of any shots taken. Be it a total misfire, or just a shot delay

OK well I can't figure out what the logic you're piecing together in that post, so let's just move past that There always a firing delay with flintlocks, it's usuaully variant but either way there's a delay every time. Every single time you pull a flintlock trigger it'll take at least 1/4 of a second for the shot to actually fire. The flash powder going off usually causes most people to jerk their aim as well. So basically firing delay + recoil before the shot fires = no bullshit shots or point blanking. Mind you they probably won't do any of that and we're likely to end up with guns being like this

Discussing realism in a game where I spin 180 degrees mid-combat to make my axe hit faster is hilarious
Realism is functional design, if they had taken a more realistic approach to chivalry the game probably wouldn't be so bloody unbalanced and archer snipey and we wouldn't even be having a discussion about how unbalanced flintlocks are probably going to be.
Make parrying faster but have the block be shorter and make feints cost less/no stamina.
Parrying is faster than normal attacks, If they block you they are using the winddown-block that costs more stamina. Don't see any problems here.
Oh god is that a gun Please no
There is allready a railgun in the game that, oposed to this thing, is point accurate.
The problem would be that if flintlocks had a random chance to instantly kill whoever you were going to fight, it would not only be a one-hit kill but it would be a one-hit kill without any player skill involved.
Is aid "random" once at which point I said it didn't matter if it was random or not, it just needs to be a firing delay. I'd much rather have a potentially powerful ranged weapon that requires skill to aim, rather than just having some obnoxious and annoying ranged weapon that people whip out during melee fights to point blank people with.
Oh... And archers, don't get me started on those piss ass cheating snobs.
going knight with maul is probably some of the most fun I've had playing any game, hitting someone with a swing, and mouse dragging an over head afterwards is some of the most fun you can have, and of course there's that satisfying *DUNK* you hear when you knock someone on the head with a fucking hammer.

[sp] CoD *cough* [/sp] HCrossbow doesn't count.
So I just ragequit so hard I actually uninstalled the game. I just, I cant play this game anymore without getting angry about every missed swing or death. I just cant seem to have fun with it anymore. [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] Maybe when the expansion comes out.
Makes me rage too, even if I'm kicking ass (which is pretty much always :D) I think it's because the game's so up-close and personal.
Why are so many people ingame bitching about feints. Even some servers have rules against using feints.
because while feints are a valid tactic they still feel like a cheap way to gain the upper hand
Why are so many people ingame bitching about feints. Even some servers have rules against using feints.
They're cheap as hell. There's no visual cue, the audio one is nearly non-existent, and other than a negligible stamina loss there's no downside to using them. There's absolutely no way to counter them and I've yet to see somebody actually give a way to counter them. The best I've gotten is "swing like a maniac and never block" or something incredibly counter-intuitive and guaranteed to get you killed.

Feinting is basically counting on the fact that your opponent will block.
