I gotta agree.
People use any tactics to cheat.
One noticeably cheap tactic with archers is that they arrow your ass, then run, switch to knife (dagger) then finish you off.
It's annoying as hell. And I mean, I know it's in the game, but still...
It's not right.
I don't believe it
That's almost as bad as some vanguards I've seen, using this exploit that allows them to make a big lunging attack after they've been running for a few seconds.
Naturally I try to votekick anyone who uses these despicable glitches.
I noticed alot of new players joining on servers. Notice alot of players that has their playernames as japanese language and stuff. I'am seeing them alot right now.
Hey guys, I picked chivalry up a few weeks ago and I've finally begun to get a handle on the mechanics. Right now I love to play as the knight using whatever bastard weapon I feel like. So far, I feel like it's a lot more useful to have your alternate slash ready if you're going into a fight than the regular one. Then you can pass your enemy on his left, so you're closer to the end of his arc if he throws a regular swing at you. That, and I feel like people really just don't expect it. I've used it to get around players shields while circling to the left around them. Gotta be close to do it, but it works well enough. I'm never quite sure when the best time to deliver pokes with my sword are. Usually I do it when I'm trading hits, so my hit can connect faster. Sometimes I get some face stabs in doing that. What are some of the strategies you guys use?
Pokes are equally deadly at close range as they are at long range. For one, parrying a stab can be a lot harder than parrying to the left/right, and it's hard to tell whether they're even going to hit you if they're close to the edge of your body.
If you truly have the heart of a Chivalry player, you have already realized what you must do about this. You must abuse the shit out of it. Stab just slightly away from people so they think they're gonna get hit, when they parry drag it back into them so it hits as their parry goes down. Throw in a wiggle stab or two where you feign stabbing to one direction, then drag to the other (but still initially miss). This is even better at making them panic parry, thus screwing themselves. When they start expecting it start actually hitting them with the initial thrust.
Now if someone is doing this to you, I would recommend you back away, turn towards their sword, duck and lean all the way back then initiate an attack. Make damn sure they're doing it to your side too because if they're close enough this will do nothing. If they're trying to fake you out like I described above, they probably won't be able to drag it to you and they're screwed. If they're close enough to drag you just do a damage trade. If you do it right you either both take damage or they take damage, so there is no losing outcome. If someone is doing this to you, deploy the wiggle stab.
The wiggle stab thing also works for shielders. If you feign stabbing to one side they'll angle their shield toward it and leave the other side exposed. Of course since they're using a shield you should just hit them immediately instead of dragging.
New player here, got any advice I should take?
Altimor just spit some mad truth
you should listen to it
New player here, got any advice I should take?
Parrying works by attaching a magical box to your head that stops attacks. It will not stop attacks below, and it doesn't stop attacks from going around it. Hit detection works by rays along the movement of the weapon. If you parry towards the midsection of their weapon but the tip hits past your parry box, your parry does nothing. The general rule is parry towards the tip, but this gets weird at close range, especially with short weapons. If you feel you're in a bad spot to parry, duck, turn towards the weapon and lean all the way back to increase the distance.
Because of the aforementioned tracing system, moving the mouse as you attack allows you to manipulate the attack. You can use this to fake people out into parrying early, or surprise people by positioning a swing to hit them earlier than normal. Remember that your weapon does nothing during the windup period (the period in which your attack can be interrupted), even if it looks like it's swinging.
That's really all you need to know. You can extrapolate many techniques from that with some thought.
EDIT: Oh also there's a weird ass mechanic called a panic parry that triggers if you parry immediately after attacking, it costs tons of stamina and doesn't allow you to combo off of it. If someone misses a swing get aggressive and force them to do this.

It seems to me, that stabs seem to originate away from the center of my screen and thrust into the center. Am I perceiving this correctly? I typically miss my stabs when any kind of lateral movement is involved by either side of the fight. Will I be more likely to connect my stabs if I aim slightly off center from my target? Also, what different kinds of manipulations can I do with stabs? Obviously I can make it look like my poke will miss, and then turn it into my opponent at the last minute, but what else can I do to mess with it? Can I speed it up or slow it down with view manipulation?

2 handed sword stabs go down and to the right of your crosshair.
You can't really speed up stabs, or slow them besides what I mentioned before. If someone attacks you, you can do the duck and lean back towards their weapon thing, and as you parry it turn so that you're facing away from them and queue up a stab combo. Then turn back to them and hit them with it. From their perspective it's much more difficult to tell that you're initiating a stab.
Picked up this game because my friend said it was good.
Oh god I suck so bad at this I can barely hit anyone.
Me and my friends play this game while on skype, sometimes in groups as large as 6 or 7 (usually about 4). Makes the game 10x more fun

Well... Some people do anything to win.
Even use a glitch in the game that you're unaware of.

I always see players above rank 40 doing these if i encounter them. For the most of it.
Really starts to get annoyed that those people are using it.
Well, the free weekend completely ruined duel.
I noticed that this game is like 6 bucks right now. Do a lot of people play it and is it fun?
so I got kicked for friendly fire
on a free for all server
Is anyone even played Deadliest Warrior? Isnt theres a beta? Surprising nobody is talking about it.

In a nutshell, samurai is OP as shit, the viking is mediocre in every aspect with no real benefits, the ninja is only good for face hugging, the knight is basically a slower samurai with less reach, the pirate's only good attribute is the blunderbuss, which is useless against multiple enemies, the spartan's only good attribute is reach.
Essentially, the samurai has long reach, high damage, high speed, and high armour, and they can use a bow as a secondary as well. Stupid as hell, but I knew they would pull that shit because deadliest warrior is basically a collection of katana worshiping weaboos.
Sounds about right, I'd rather the DLC have not existed and the main game getting just another content update, or at least addressing the problems the main game has long before they went out and god a license for a shitty show and selling it as DLC.

In its current state, it is in no way worth £12.
Maybe they will fix a load of the balance issues and the weird laggy feeling (constant 60fps but it feels very clumsy and laggy) and it will be worthwhile. Until then, I would say hold off.
I might get Deadliest Warrior, but ill wait when the price is down when Steam comes with christmas deals.

This is TB we're talking about here.
Some people in this game seem to have their fov set to 20. I can't count how many times I've walked right past people and killed them before they even noticed.
I got Deadliest Warrior and in my first game everyone went pirates so we ended up playing 2v8 with the other team constantly insulting us for "being bad"
The expansion itself seems ok but they should really do something about muskets, in their current state they are even more annoying than crossbows. The maps are really open so if you play anything other than a pirate you get headshotted as soon as you spawn
Does anyone know how to turn off Anti Aliasing? It always looks blurry and terrible on my card so I always have to turn it off but there isn't an option for it in the video options.
Why the fuck would they not include that? I swear I used to be able to turn it off somewhere.

The guns are weaker at longer range and take a considerable time to load in which enemies can close the distance. They are essentially good for 1 kill because you need to get so close to secure it and cant hang around to reload.
They are only really useful if the entire team is setting up a firing line.

I have no antialiasing in my game.
Pirate firing lines sound like the DW version of archersquads with pavise shields in Chiv, i.e. hilarious

I have gotten this is basic Chivalry almost all the time. I guessed maybe it had to do with Unreal Engine 3 rather than the game itself, but I don't know. It seems like UE3 would be best suited to a multiplayer game considering the Unreal Tournament games are multiplayer by design and are built off of that engine, but I have seen UE3 behave clunky in the past.
Then again, I am no modder or developer or anything, so I honestly have no fucking idea.
I really like Deadliest Warrior, but the Vikings special ability seems so pointless and I can't really figure out what the real advantage to dual wielding is.
I really like how all spear attacks are stabs and the stabs can be comboed now.

The bassy sounds of gunfire are like sex in my ears when a group of pirates get together.
