its a shame we probably wont be seeing any back-porting of features from DW to MW, like the new damage trace model, those are things people have been suggesting (and wanting) for ages in MW

What new damage trace model?
swings being less effective at the extremes (start and end)
nerfs some questionable stuff like hitting people with the very end of a zweihander blade or maul head moving a couple of cm per second for full damage, which while I (ab)use these constantly, I think is a good change
also will throw some more dynamics into gameplay in the sense that now you've also got a more optimal range to be fighting at (as opposed to either facehugging or kiteing)

jesus fuck is that for real?
goddamn where's my wallet
I really hope they implement that into Medieval Warfare. It's silly how many high levels blatantly abuse how the system works (including me sometimes)

I hope that never comes to Chivalry MW
I love Chivalry's wacky accelerating/decelerating stuff

and I do too - messer and zwei dragging for life
thing is it wouldn't remove any of the real time swing shit, unlike a lot of people's suggestions to "remove dragging" (like, what?, mouse dragging to control swings is up there as one of the most core, awesome features of chiv by far)
as per the video, it simply reduces damage by a bit depending on how directly offensive your attacks are - pulling sneaky overhead delays, drawn out swings or lightspeed instant-overheads is still a valid, viable tactic for getting a hit in (albeit with damage more akin to if you had side-swiped as opposed to overheaded)
sounds like a near perfect tweak to existing mechanics to me

if you're talking about the real-time swing trace system (and haven't played Chivalry before) - that's in chivalry already, spiketv's one adds in the different phases (start, optimal and end of swing)
if you're talking about DW specifically, yeah it does look tempting, but after I watched a bunch of gameplay videos I just can't see myself playing it very much - a lot of it seems gimmicky (UI design included) and nigh impossible to balance

I'm not liking the whole "loadsa silly" classes thing, but the retardedly simple damage mechanics are a massive negative for me in MW, and any attempt to improve it is a massive leap forward, in my books
i hope it comes to MW but i know it won't
I lost all faith a few months ago when I saw a vanguard literally drag somebodys head off by accident. Depressing and hilarious.
There was like... no force to it, it was like somebody lobbing a tennis ball for their dog; his head just slid off his shoulders.
I was right up against an MaA with Bardiche, I hit secondary overhead and his head instantly exploded
I thought that got patched
yeah, hitting people with the blunt end of the handle instantly on facehug still happens with halberd lookdown overhead, among others
Kicks should be more instantaneous.
I love jokes like these.
Oh? You're not joking?
Let me explain then, if the kick was instantaneous it would become abused and spammed. There is a reason it is clunky, because it has insane utility AND drains their stamina if hit.
Oh theyre trying to combo you? Throw a kick on one of the windups, no more combo.
Oh theyre low on stamina? Throw a kick to deplete it then throw a swing for a free kill.
Oh theres multiple enemies charging you? Kick one of them and they all get knocked back.
Kicking is in a very good place right now, as it can have potentially huge benefits, and by making it clunky it keeps it from being a crutch to spam. You actually have to use it carefully because of how it is, as the stam loss and being immobile for a second while doing it means that you're fucked if you miss it. If it was instantaneous, people would never miss and could simply throw it around in any kind of difficult situation instead of actually weighing out options and opting for a different solution.
I only ever kick when I think it'll kill whoever I'm fighting. It feels incredible to do a jump kick into somebody's face as a finisher.

But that is more of people not thinking to use it in fights.
Seriously, if you're having issues with a dragger, kicking is a straight counter to it. Those slow drags make them extremely predictable in their moves, just harder to block and half the time theyre combo-ing those drags hoping a random one gets in. Theyre gambling on a hit in exchange for losing a large portion of stamina and most weapon's wind ups are not fast enough to hit them while theyre combo-ing without getting hit yourself. So in this instance theyre throwing around slow swings and spinning, you can easily jump in and throw a kick to interrupt the combo AND make them lose even more stamina with all the stam they already lost doing their crazy combo.
I have killed so many draggers this way that it is hilarious, because half of them rely on being on the constant offensive because their drags take people by surprise. Like wise the kick also takes them by surprise and puts them on the defensive, except they have barely any stamina left if any at all to defend with. It is all about gaining the initiative.
Shield users should just explode when kicked w/ their shield up
It's the only way to balance it, right now shields are too good at obstructing vision

i'm pretty sure all he meant was that the kick should be faster as opposed to taking so damn long to get up.
I know, and that would be incredibly dumb to do, making it faster would make it a spammable crutch. The kick is good right now being clunky because it forces you to use the kick carefully, but it is so unexpected usually anytime a kick is used it results or leads up to a kill.
The reason it is slow is so it is harder to aim, but the benefits you get from landing a kick are awesome.

wow fight me with your peasant feet against my noble drags see what happens
Bardiche is the best crowd control weapon in the game
Bardiche is the best crowd control weapon in the game
The best weapon against crowds is always the enemy team's absence of skill. If you get swarmed as a Man at Arms you can just run and dodge around and have them flinch each other while you stab at them.

Most MaA weapons can't easily hit multiple targets and your strategy doesn't work on decent players
Bardiche has no such shortcomings
EDIT: You also have to have the enemy come to you, with the Bardiche if someone tries to run out of the crowd you can easily include them in a swing
I use maul

Atta boy.
wow fight me with your peasant feet against my noble drags see what happens
You act like I am going to regularly use kicks or something, I will only use them if I see an opportunity to do so.
I will match your drags with my own.
Bardiche is the best crowd control weapon in the game
not so much the best because reach is awful but the swing, wow. the swing is devastating
honestly to me the best crowd control is the spear by far. the reach is incredible so when you swing you can hit pretty much everybody in a 180 angle with no problem at all

What? Bardiche has incredible reach.
and swings with the spear suck
I'm loving just poking people with the norse sword a MaA.
and swings with the spear suck
They're supposed to. It's to make it harder to hit the enemies because of its insane reach.
my best crowd control has always been the zwei
it's just too damn big. you can't miss hitting the three guys in front of you
What? Bardiche has incredible reach.
i am just saying that so i can be the only bardiche user in the game
