i am just saying that so i can be the only bardiche user in the game
Bardiche is one of the most ridiculous weapons in the game as far weapon manipulation goes. You can drag back so much to force an early parry yet at the same time you can look down overhead your opponent to hit them near instantly. If the Polehammer wasn't so over powered people would use it more.
Ok, so my plan to smite the Agathians by summoning an elder god didn't go quite as well as I had hoped.

That Flintlock is just as horrible as I said I warned you all

That UI is awful.
it looks like something out of a flash game imo the original ui looks better, and that's saying something considering how mediocre it is
it looks like something out of a flash game imo the original ui looks better, and that's saying something considering how mediocre it is
I wouldn't say its mediocre, I'd say its minimalistic and fits the game's focus on no-hud immersive gameplay.
That's actually pretty loud and intrusive, not what I'd call minimalistic
That's actually pretty loud and intrusive, not what I'd call minimalistic
I wouldn't call 2 small bars that fade away at the bottom of the screen intrusive or loud.
Can do some pretty useful jumps with the Zweihander charge
Why did that guy feint at an archer with a bow lol
Why did that guy feint at an archer with a bow lol
It was me, and it makes them dodge. You can see he jumps then when he's done I do the killing blow. Just because he can't block, it doesn't mean a feint can't be useful.
Smoke bombs are not that bad as I thought at first, since they drain stamina for everyone who is within the cloud.
Smoke bombs are not that bad as I thought at first, since they drain stamina for everyone who is within the cloud.
They do? did not know that
feints are the worst
feints are the worst
If they didn't exist, the combat would be extremely one dimensional. They are realistic, and by blocking at the right moments you can out-play them. I have no issue with people feinting against me, and most good players will be mostly immune to my feints.
Tap kick > Feint
If they didn't exist, the combat would be extremely one dimensional. They are realistic, and by blocking at the right moments you can out-play them. I have no issue with people feinting against me, and most good players will be mostly immune to my feints.
I find my fights to be a hell of a lot more fun without feints. Feints are boring as fuck.
feints are the worst
Bollocks people in duels with bearded axes/claymores who wait for you to attack so they can parry and land a quick hit before your weapon even has time to reset to parry are the fucking worse because they just stand there and they wont hit you, unless you hit them first.
Feints aren't about outplaying them, it's about giving yourself a free hit unless you fucked up a feint before and they know you're going to do it. [editline]1st November 2013[/editline] Also, "they're realistic" isn't an excuse in a game like Chivalry. You know what else is realistic? Being able to block for more than a second and not being able to parry a massive hammer with a tiny shortsword. [editline]1st November 2013[/editline] Not to mention the machinegun crossbows.
So dragging, foot placement, manual dodging, and weapon speeds have no effect in changing combat from one dimension?
At the end of the day, even with those things, fights will still boil down to hit, block, hit, block mostly without feints. Yes there's more to it than that, but feints break up what is otherwise a constant rhythm. They aren't cheap, and if people have problems blocking them it's their fault, not an issue with the game mechanics.

Yes there's more to it than that, but feints break up what is otherwise a constant rhythm. They aren't cheap, and if people have problems blocking them it's their fault, not an issue with the game mechanics.
It's funny how the people who use them as a heavy staple of their fighting don't have anything bad to say about them. And why would they? They're killing more people people, why would they complain? I hate people who justify feints with "fights would go too long, it's too hard to get around blocks, i can't beat them without it". Try a straight fight for once. The fun is getting around their defence via technique such as wide swings to hook around, baiting attacks that don't quite reach them to make them swing at you and then darting in while their swing hasn't finished, and other things, not blatantly stacking the deck with a heavily unbalanced to nigh-broken mechanic. I'd argue that a more natural version of feinting is getting into a fight full of quick parries and ripostes, and then just not immediately swinging upon parrying one of their attacks. Some people by then will have automatically parried rather than wait for the animation since you'd normally be swinging at them immediately, and that brief bit of restraint can get you the hit you need thanks to parrying too early. I say this is more natural since a player who does indeed wait for that animation can still counter it or swing before you have a chance to enter phase two, which is sort of the same principle as how you're supposed to counter feints. It's sort of similar to how you can sometimes have their parry expire before your attack reaches them if you hold down LMB to make your attack take slightly longer to start. With a feint you can just pretend to swing, wait for the parry since for many weapons if they waited for the rest of the swing they'd end up with a sword in their face, and if they swing anyway if you're fast enough or their weapon is slow enough you can just parry it anyway. The "just wait for them to get further through the swing" is a fucking terrible thing to say since it's a terrible thing to do that's highly likely to get you damaged if they don't feint.
If they're mouse-dragging and feinting there is no defence.
norse holy water hatchet thrusting saber and be as freaky as possible
I wouldn't say its mediocre, I'd say its minimalistic and fits the game's focus on no-hud immersive gameplay.
I can respect it being minimalistic, and it does blend decently with the game itself (the fact it all hides when not in use is definitely in the right direction), I just wish there was a way for the HUD to be virtually non-existent - maybe something like increasing the lightness of the vignette (whitening) or increasing its intensity (darkening, but this is sorta used with damage already) and just doing away with the HUD elements entirely [editline]1st November 2013[/editline]
That's actually pretty loud and intrusive, not what I'd call minimalistic
you talking about MW's HUD, like he was referring to?
Holy fuck the gauntlet in deadliest warrior training mode is hard. One of each class rushing at you, and a pirate with a blunderbuss that has near perfect aim taking potshots. And the AI is actually kinda good in the gauntlet.
Viking duels are hilarious. I have made a flowchart.
yeah i had no idea until yesterday that shields were throwable it feels a little cheap imo, since you don't just fucking dart a shield at someone.
