Got on a server with a really mad dude who was shittalking (generic trollish insults etc.)
He tried to votekick me and nearly succeeded (I didn't do anything worth votekicking FYI)
I didn't care much until one point I decided to votekick him.
I somehow misclicked on my own name.

I think they last until the end of that game, or until the end of the next game if it was close enough to the match ending.

This is useful information!
deadliest warrior is $3.75, about $4 after taxes on the Uplay store, but don't worry you get a Steam key

i had get the key from uplay itself though so you might need to download it to get the key

You're the man. Thanks!
I just got maybe my biggest laugh in this game ever.
I was just MAA'ing on Hillside, and I see enemy Archer behind a ballista (what a good cover genius) and attack him.
After a brief unsuccessfull nagging (= trying to hit each other with ballista between us), I take the control of ballista and shoot.
I laughed like a maniac when I looked that poor Archer fly away as an ornament on the giant arrow.
[QUOTE=Reds;43188106]Ok, time to check the server list.
Let's see, ten FFA servers, two servers for everything else. And one is usually full rotation on FFA half the time.

cool my deadliest warrior unlocks keep resetting
are the chivalry devs just complete shit at their job or do they not put forth the effort?
[editline]19th December 2013[/editline]
oh and the game is basically unplayable with a ping over 100 because enemies just swing through all your obvious blocks
[editline]19th December 2013[/editline]
both of these were problems in the vanilla game, some attention to them would've been nice

How long have you been playing?
The 100 ping plus problem is just a downside to real time swings, and there is nothing they can do about that except make the blocks retardly easy and that wouldn't be any fun at all.
The next thing, are you sure you're blocking correctly? You have to look at the tip of the blade, or else they can just drag around your blocks. So if they're stabbing to the right, you have to completely turn to the right looking at their blade or else you'll get stabbed.
That 2.3gb MW patch has done wonders for me. It runs beautifully!
Does anyone else have missing textures in a few maps after this patch besides me? I also seem to be having trouble getting into servers, it'll say there are like 24 people in a duel server but when I go in theres no one in there.
Is Deadliest Warrior worth £8 in the sale for someone who likes Duel and FFA mainly?

wait for it to go below $10, something similar to the price chivalry is at right now.

DW is not for you. I like it because I am a decent shithead archer and viking is basicaly a beefy shithead throwingdude. They droped some of the strategic parts of the game and supercharged the hack and slash. Some examples are: Almost instant movement acceleration, less weapon switchtime or none at all (ninja throwing weapons/throwable weapons in general) and

You could put it like that... Or you could say they made it more "streamlined and accessible" but personally? I'd say that they casualized the utter fuck out of the game without a second thought.
It's a slap fest where stamina is meaningless and finesse isn't rewarded (usually the opposite).

I used to joke about the game being "Call of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare" when there was alot of archer spam going on in a match.. But now it's current expansion is literally that: CALL of CHIVALRY.
I just picked up this game and most of the combat seems to just be... did that guy swing first and does your block actually feel like working.
Also knights who just wave their swords madly and hit anything 360 degrees around them.
And then the occasional team killer.

All these problems are solved with time, blocking you have to look at the upper part of the blade and the direction it is coming from. So if a swing comes from the left, look to the left at the blade and you will block it.
The "waving swords madly" is actually them comboing, by doing combos it lets them get in swings faster than you if you try to swing in on them. You have to view it in the mindset of pokemon in which you take turns attacking and defending, you can technically get a stab in with a faster weapon, but that is a high risk-high reward kind of situation.
Another thing is that the reason they seem to be waving wildly is that they have learned the animations so they know where the blade is at all times, letting them use the mechanics to get faster hits, such as turning around as they do an overhead so the blade hits you as they bring it back behind them.
edit - the game can be intimidating at first which puts off a lot of people, but if you stick with it I can gurantee it becomes great fun and once you start having sustained fights it gets very intense.

This is a very good way to look at it at first. Then as you start to get a hang on things you begin to understand that it's also like a real swordfight (if you have had experience in that) and at the more advanced level it's simultaneously attacking and defending, such as using an attack to interrupt another players attack or ducking their attack while hitting them as they open themselves up by attacking you. Blocking is very complicated in this game and it reflects real life in a way that's both accurate and totally unrealistic at the same time. It's very interesting. I just wish they had sword binding mechanics in place. That said, I have no idea how they could do that in an interesting, fun, or realistic way.
I miss parries that weren't magic 180 degree magical shields that can block multiple weapons in multiple directions.

Of course, I was just simplifying it because from his perspective none of it would make any sense really. That is why I love this game, because it can it can go from being hacking and slashing randomly to a game of strategy in which two people must analyze their opponent and react as such to whatever their doing. It is about gaining the initiative over that person.
I don't think there's ever been a single patch that hasn't added bugs or made the game worse
This latest one made alt tabbing horribly buggy for me and sometimes the UI stops responding
Damn I REALLY need to start running some recording software while I play this game.

While fighting someone in free-for-all, we some how migrated in front of a cannon, and after hitting the fuse by mistake while we were fighting he was sent flying across the river and onto the beach!

Really? Like I said before, this one did wonders for me in just about every way.
The only issue I have is that after losing connection to a server (my internet is really unreliable) the server browser stops working and I need to restart the game. But that's not reallya big issue as my internet has stopped dying so often.
[editline]22nd December 2013[/editline]
Plus it loads up faster than it did before

same with the loading
I still don't get what you guys mean. I stare directly at their weapons as I block, and get hit half the time anyways. Also the fact that as one of the lighter armored guys with a little axe and a shield, the fuckers with warhammers swing faster than me. I never get chances to even swing my weapon, and when I do I get one shotted.
Also, if I put up my shield, they just charge at me, whack my shield, which makes me stumble, and I have no time to even move because of the stumble and I get killed.

What they're doing is kicking you then. The way these warhammer users are attacking so fast is that they're positioning their strikes so that they pass through your body very shortly after their windup. You can do the same by putting them directly to your right when you swing your weapon from right to left. I will say that shields aren't done very realistically in Chivalry, so I wouldn't really recommend them personally. I'd recommend sticking to parrying, the thing with that is that people can be a little misleading when they talk about how you pull it off. Most folks say to look at the tip of their weapon which isn't exactly right because most attacks don't lead with the tip of the weapon. To parry any attack you need to point the center of your screen directly at the point where their weapon will impact you, and then hit parry just before they hit you. That part of their weapon isn't always the tip, unless they're stabbing you. If you're right up in a knights face, he'll probably hit you with the base of his sword blade rather than the point. Another point about shields is that, just like in real life, if you let an enemy get too close they can attack around your shield from your direct front quite easily. In real life this is done with a longsword by hooking the crossguard on the shield to yank it out of the way with your swing. Don't give up hope, always assume that whatever is happening is actually more complicated than you realize and that there's probably something you missed noticing that allowed them to hit you. Me personally, I found out after a while that I just can't play the Man at Arms class, I'm a knight at heart and the playstyle is totally different. I use my longsword to play a distance game with enemies, swinging just out of range to bait them in before taking their head off with a backswing as they try to close for the kill.

It's cool man, I knew that and I think that's a good way to get him started understanding these things, but I think it's also important that he also sees that what you said was a simplification too, that way it's easier to observe and grow into more advanced play.
I wish they'd fix the fucking unlock system already. It's fucking ridiculous that you can get hundreds of kills over the course of days and never have them contribute to your unlocks. The only archer I like is a camping babby heavy crossbow archer, but I'm forced to go through these shitty unlocks before I can get it. Which has been several days of waiting and murdering and not finding out until the end of the round if my kills have bothered saving.
I've been unable to unlock the final hammer/maul since I got the game, the heavy crossbow refuses to unlock and yet that last update suddenly made all my vanguard kills get recognized at once, unlocking all of his primaries and a bunch of secondaries. I fucking hate playing vanguard, too.
