Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft V3 - The Argent Tournament is GETTING IN HERE *Uhuhuhuh*
5,000 replies, posted
blizzard just seems like a very conservative company overall
lack of constant balancing in hearthstone aside, there's also the still subscription-based wow and overwatch - a multiplayer only game that draws heavy inspiration from a bunch of notoriously F2P games - being released at full price
Very very rarely
They handle the balance of the game quite poorly
They overnerf "overpowered" cards and never buff underpowered cards
I get shitty cards are supposed to exist
but why not make novice a 1-2 again
why not make defias ringleader a 2-3 again. Trading coin for a 2-1 isn't even that worth it anymore.
Why not make warsong useful again? Let it give any minion charge but cost a shitload, so molten warrior can be a thing again. :(
Why not make King Krush 8 mana, so control hunter could actually become a thing with a decent finisher and a good minion, similar to control warrior/patron warrior and Velen priest.
Would a 8-8 with charge + a hero power on turn 10 BE that fucking broken? No...it might be used in midrange possibly, but I really doubt it.
Why not make acidmaw playable, so control hunter can actually exist? Dreadmaw is amazing and one of the best designed low cost legendaries in the game besides MRGLRGLRMGLR. Would acidmaw being 3 mana be that broken? Compare it to equality...You get the effect of equality on a minion, which affects both sides..but you pay 7 mana. Why can't it be like 4 or 5 mana so uth + acidmaw is actually good, or acidmaw + dreadmaw.
Like it pisses me off how close control hunter is to becoming viable, but it never will be. I try it every expansion/adventure and it almost feels like a solid deck.
Which is exactly why when they balance cards like starving buzzard and warsong commander they might as well have deleted them from the game.
I mean, if nerfing into oblivion is what Blizzard considers "balancing", I can see how they came to the conclusion that it would be a terrible thing to do more frequently :v:
Not that the physical/traditional aspect of the game really holds up in many other aspects. Can't sell, trade or buy individual cards, can't make mockups or houserules - which is fine by me, I prefer Hearthstone as a "videogame first and card game second" so it can take advantage of the digital format, with balancing being among those advantages as well.
Heck, if they took advantage of a different monetization method instead of booster packs, they could have even kept Hearthstone in the "polish and quality over quantity" state it was released in and keep focusing on keeping the "total card pool" as close to the "relevant card pool" as reasonably possible, with universally worthless cards getting overhauled and expansions focusing on giving underplayed cards the synergy needed to break up the meta.
I think it would be pretty cool to have an "expansion" that just revamped all the useless cards. I'm sure it could be shoehorned into the lore somehow.
Of course they wouldn't make money off of that. So It'll never happen.
[editline]26th December 2015[/editline]
I wouldn't even care that much about not replacing bad cards if those bad cards were taken out of the booster packs. All they do is make the game harder and harder for new/free players because the chance of getting good cards gets lower and lower. Trump is still doing his "free 2 play" run where he had to spam arenas for gold to unlock cards for net decks because the basic cards don't have any chance of competing anymore.
So I finally got the Naxxramas cards and crafted two Knife Jugglers and two Doomguards and I jumped from rank 17 to rank 12
Is this normal? I feel dirty
I can't even bring myself to go full aggro with this deck and I'm still winning
The only rework I actually agreed with Blizz on was Unleash the Hounds.
Think it had like 3-4 different versions before they settled with what we have today.
Basically the only card that got an actual good rework/rebalancing.
"Trigger
A topic, phrase or word that emotionally sets someone off."
I'm trying to say that this brawl makes me angry, but maybe I'm just tired and can't English.
Well then just say something like "This thing really pissed me off."
I associate "triggered" with either folks that get triggered from traumatic experiences, or Tumblr SJW's complaining about being mildly put off by something or another.
So Geza and I were thinking... What if Hearthstone had an anime like Yu-Gi-Oh?
Jaina: "Ah yes the Bear Trap. After attacking his Face, it summons a 3/3 bear with Taunt, which means his minions are forced to attack it in lieu of other targets!"
Uther: "But that means he can stil attack face with spells! OH NO!"
Anduin: "A Bear Trap!? Pffhrm, you only delayed your defeat for one turn. Dr Boom, obliterate the bear!"
Uther: "Oh no! That bear is no match for Doctor Boom!"
Jaina: "However this only leaves the 1/1 Boom Bots to attack his face- they could have dealt much more damage if he sacrificed them against the bear!"
Gul'Dan: "You don't understand. He left the boom-bots up on purpose... He might be planning to use them for something. Be careful, Rexxar!"
Anduin: "YOU FOOL MIGHT THINK I'LL GIVE YOU A CHANCE TO COUNTERATTACK-BUT YOU ARE WRONG! UNSTABLE GHOUL, I SUMMON YOU!"
Jaina: "Oh no, he played an Unstable Ghoul on top of the Boom Bots!"
Thrall: "W-what does that mean?"
Rexxar: "Now it's time for my own ace! Ancient beast from eons ago, I call upon your help in this night of the hunt.... ENTER, KING KRUSH!"
The entire arena rumbles and shakes.
Anduin: "K-KINGU KRUSHO?! Such a legendary card... I underestimated you, Rexxar... HOWEVER, THIS IS ONLY A BRIEF MOMENT OF SHINING LIGHT BEFORE YOUR DESCENT INTO DEFEAT! I ACTIVATE THOUGHTSTEAL, ADDING TWO COPIES OF RANDOM CARDS IN YOUR DECK TO MY HAND!"
Anduin's hand glows, two cards appearing out of thin air.
Anduin: "Of course you'd have this card in your deck. After all, even the most experienced Hunters need a way to keep their beasts in line... I pay five out of my remaining seven mana to play HEMET NESSINGWARY!"
"Ahhhhh, the thrill of tha hunt!"
King Krush explodes in a shower of glowing dust.
Uther: "H-hemet Nessingwary? What does he do?"
Gul'Dan: "An odd choice to be sure. He instantly kills a beast on the enemy's board... But why would he have it in his own deck full of beasts?"
Jaina: "Are you stupid? Anduin is a pro player, and his deck is known to contain Mind Control. Of course someone like Rexxar would come prepared to fight his own creatures. After all, last time he dueled Anduin, he was defeated by his own Gahzrilla... Since then, Rexxar hasn't been his usual, facial self."
An indeterminate amount of turns pass, Rexxar being badly injured.
Anduin: "AND NOW THAT THAT BOTHERSOME BEAST IS OUT OF THE WAY... I SUMMON THE OTHER CARD YOUR DECK HAS SO THOUGHTFULLY PROVIDED TO ME... AN OLD CLASSIC! GAHZRILLA! COME FORTH AND BRING TERROR TO ALL! Yet again, I am the one to field Gahzrilla, even though you were the one to bring him to the table! How ironic that history would repeat itself!"
Rexxar: "Unlike you, however, I learned from our previous game! As you have seen yourself, I have brought Hemet Nessingwary this time!"
Anduin: "What? Don't tell me you drew it!"
Rexxar: "HEMET! TAKE OUT GAHZRILLA NOW!"
Gahzrilla's heads rear up to attack Hemet, before being taken out by his rifle in a bright flash of light, blinding Anduin.
Anduin: "No, no, NO! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO RAM YOUR WORTHLESS BEASTS INTO IT, GRANTING ME VICTORY IN A SINGLE ATTACK LIKE LAST TIME! HOW COULD THIS BE!"
Rexxar: "Because unlike you, I do not make the same mistake twice!"
Cut to ending theme.

Something like that actually exists in the form of a nine chapter comic done by a Korean fan. Here's the translated chapters on Reddit.

It's pretty good actually.
So what was the weirdest deck you guys built when you'd just started out? The weirdest thing I made was an OTK priest that stalled the game with Ancient Watchers before Alexstrazaing your opponent and then killing them with Holy Fire + Mindblast + Mindblast.
It was pretty wild.
Aw, c'mon Maximo, why did you have to make Uther the stupid one who gets stuff explained to him
Did Arthas write that
Is there a preferred deck to getting to rank 1-5 in ranked games? I created Dr. Boom because that's apparently in every deck.
Is there a preferred deck to getting to rank 1-5 in ranked games? I created Dr. Boom because that's apparently in every deck.
rank 5 is 98th percentile
rank 1 is 99.75th
if you just recently discovered why dr. boom is an overpowered piece of shit then you and your collection are probably not good enough
spend some time poring over decks on hearthpwn.com to figure out what makes different builds work

I started using the Meta Snapshot over at Temp Storm because it was more frequently updated than the LiquidHearth one. It's fairly accurate at keeping track of what's popular and you can usually use modified variants of Tier 1 lists to climb and counter whatever you're playing.
A Card for Rouge "Kunai Kart" costs 5 mana, has 0 attack and 5 hp. At the end of every turn if performs fan of knives minus the card draw.
OP?

sounds like it was supposed to be a class card for the minecart encounter in LoE
Thanks for answering the questions guys, I haven't played since they only had the first pack of cards. A lot of cards to go through, and the information has really helped!

Extremely underpowered. Should still have the card draw, maybe with 4 hp. Compare it to mana tide totem, +2 hp and arcane explosion (2 mana, never used) for 2 more mana.
Or give it some attack.

Make it a 3/5 with the kunai effect being both a battlecry and a deathrattle
That would be pretty insane compared to dark iron skulker.
[editline]27th December 2015[/editline]
0 attack minions with a passive/recurring effect is mainly a shaman thing, it doesn't really fit rogue.
Lightwell?
So earlier I bought 30 classic packs. Got alot of dust and Ysera out of it!
Then just now I finished a quest and got the 10 gold I needed to buy one more pack.
It had Tinkmaster again.
Well now good news is I'm 400 away from perhaps a Legend, but I might just keep holding onto the dust for cards I need or whenever the next expac is announced.

Compare it to Arcane Explosion. It's 2 Mana for basically the same effect; you're spending 3 more Mana for a 0/5 body, and since it gives you a benefit (most of the time, unless going up against something like Acolyte of Pain) at the end of your turns, it's a soft taunt, unless the enemy board happens to have big minions that can just ignore the petty 1 damage (which would also screw up things like Dark Iron Skulker and Backstab).
Lets say that the remaining 3 Mana is restoring you 5 Health. Then you compare that to Healing Touch (8 Health for same Mana)...then Holy Light (6 Health for 2 Mana)...then Flash Heal (same Health for 1 Mana). So in order for it to be worth the value, it has to do one of two things:
#1 - Have it proc twice. It then becomes the equivalent of a worse Consecration, but a better Shieldbearer (provided it's an actual threat).
#2 - Have it tank 3 extra damage, which is way less likely to happen because whatever minion has 8 Attack can probably survive its Fan of Knives 99% of the time.
It does make for a good anti-aggro tech card, but even then I'd just run a Dark Iron Skulker. Can do the same anti-aggro job and puts out a decent body.
In short, underwhelming.

Well, these days it seems Uther has a lot of questions.

I love misdirection as a joke include, nothing better than destroying a BMing oil rogue as he damages himself for 9 on a double oiled sludge beltcher.
rip, I was too focused on his dr. boom that I completely missed lethal on a guy

I wish it was viable and not so easy to play around
What could you even do to buff the card into a playable state?

I was watching a stream and missed lethal 3 times in arena since I was too focused on the stream/board control
I lost that game and went 4-4 LOL
I feel like if Misdirection got buffed at all it would just turn out obnoxious to play against. Maybe it's for the best that it's kinda bad?
Secrets in general kind of walk a fine line I think, and Paladin secrets in particular have to be 1 mana on top of that and there aren't a whole lot of ways to keep them cost effective without being annoying and also without being piss-easy to play around
