Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft V3 - The Argent Tournament is GETTING IN HERE *Uhuhuhuh*

Just had a great first game in Arena. We're both Mage, late game. He's holding a few cards he's been holding back for a while. Although I've already put out a good Sheepifyer target (Water Ele), he didn't bite. But process of deduction and elimination meant it's pretty much only Polymorph, and I'm going to keep Malygod in hand for an eternity if it is. Get a nice second Water Ele, chuck it out, it's poly alright.
Malygos goes down and all I pick up from there on out is Flamestrikes and Flamecannons to keep the board in check while my dragon bumps his face down. Real nice.
I'm seriously getting tired of all these aggressive decks and newbie aggro hunters.
Sounds like a decent card, bit fat for a rouge but it'll do.
Plus the picture is adorable.
really good arena card
I would rate this card eeeeeeeeeeeeeeh/10
Seems ok, not much to say
oK, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SHIT? Did you guys know that Naturalize let's the opponent draw two cards BEFORE killing the minion? It's pretty fucking stupid, you know, because it's written on the DAMN CARD THAT IT GETS DESTROYED FIRST!
Sorry, it's just that I played this stupid card on an opponent's chrommagus...
A 5 mana combo card that turns it into a 1-mana cheaper silenceable Boulderfist Ogre? I dunno, 5-mana REALLY constricts the ability to combo into it outside of coining into it on turn 4.

Shado-Pan Cavalry

Seems kind of like defias, especially for arena. If you have coin and get a turn 4 6/7 it's amazing, but actually playing it on turn 5 is terrible.
A 3/7 isn't even too terrible, it's just -1 stat at worst, and +2 stats at best.

The problem is that what card would Oil Rogue cut for this? Especially in the 5 mana slot, which is occupied by things like Azure Drake. It seems like an OK arena card, but there's even less guarantee of getting combo-enablers in arena outside of the coin.
Currently I only see this card getting played in good numbers in constructed if some form of heavier tempo or control Rogue deck gets created as a result of TGT.

I think it depends on how easily you can set it up actually. Most of the really good Rogue combo cards are cheap so you can play them alongside the other low drops you presumably have in Arena. Even if you don't have coin you can drop Defias on 2 as just a shitty 2/2 to contest 3/2s, set up a Poison > Combo Defias for three, or drop him on four with another two drop. With Shado-Pan playing him on 5 makes him a not much better Fen Creeper, and cheap combos are cumbersome to set up outside of turn seven two drop > Combo Shado-Pan.
And even then, he's largely inferior to Ogre most of the time and still dies to stuff like War Golem and Ironbark. Call me cynical but I feel like this is an instance where Combo: 'Gain more total stats' might not make it that great.

Hearthstone by nature is designed to basically be a game of mostly aggro and degenerate combo decks. Any card game with very minimal interaction, having a super small deck size, and always having an extra card in hand in the form of a hero power will obviously breed a ton of decks that can goldfish by turn ~4-5 consistent.
I mean it's just a factor of hearthstone that is as intrinsic to the game as the basic rules are, especially since those types of decks tend to be the cheapest to make. Not to mention the 10 gold per win thing and quests of the day that causes you to gain more value from playing faster decks.

This is good news. I'm glad Ben took the time to adress this misunderstanding.

I have made an error.
Is it normal that ranked is such high difficulty at the start of a season? I'm currently at rank 20 and last season it was a lot easier to play around this rank.
My guess it has to do with everyone wanting to rank right now?

I thought that it was always a rush at the beginning and end of the ranked season which results in such variance in match quality.

It's insane for me to see the difference in playing against rank 20 or rank 21.

Huffer hero replacement confirmed.

Holy hell you got 3 legendaries?!
Sad news, friends: Blizzard is considering removing the Sac Pact + Jaraxxus Hero interaction from the game, for consistency.
It seems that in the face of overwhelming questions of "Why does Mal'Ganis not buff hero Jaraxxus? Will Demonfuse buff hero Jaraxxus? Why does my dribble keep seeping onto my keyboard?" Blizz has finally had enough. RIP Nefarian Dream, Warlock Counter Tech, and any future Spellslinger Fun. That, or they're concerned with the increased presence of random spells indirectly weakening Jaraxxus. I prefer the first theory.
HAHAHAHAHA!
NOW YOU WILL FACE AN UNSTOPPABLE JARAXXUS! EREDAR LORD OF THE BURNING LEGION!
Holy hell you got 3 legendaries?!
Paid for it with Thrallmar Farseer and two Infantries.
This title is not accurate, though I can see how what I said would be easy to misunderstand. I didn't say it was likely. Just more likely than adding "minion" to Demonfuse.
The sentiment is that we shouldn't have to make all our cards that target a race more verbose because a hero of that race exists. Imagine we did make a Huffer hero (no chance) - now all the cards that target beasts are either confusing or need to add the word "minion".
As we continue to add more cards, this type of consistency gets more important, so you know how new cards work because you know how old cards work. The fact that Demonfuse reads like it should target Jaraxxus and Bestial Wrath reads like it could target a Huffer hero (again, not happening ;-) is not ideal.
That said, I appreciate all the feedback in this thread, and don't worry, no plans have been made for any changes just yet.

Jaraxxus will still die from Sacrificial Pact

It wouldn't be used in oil rogue
Cards like this are good because while they might not have a place now, they aren't objectively bad and can likely find a good place in a future rogue deck or meta.

fuck
I hate mages in arena. Especially when they have 2 flamestrikes, 2 polymorphs, 4 fireballs and archmage antonidas

Yeah, people are missing the point when they say "What would handlock give up for this?" or "Doesn't fit Oil Rogue".
The last thing Blizzard wants to do is make people use the same decks only even further optimized with 1 or 2 new cards. They want people to make new decks by filling in niches.
Yeah we need to keep on breaking the meta so it prevents stagnation. More changes more often can keep the game fresh and fluid and full of wild experiments. But the boat still needs to be rocked to shake off the dominance of Aggro and Face.
I just beat a mage with a polymorphed sheep :toot:
also that win got me a rank up woo
Ranked to fight the same mechmage deck 4 times in a row, so I say fuck it and go casual to fight the same face hunter deck 3 times in a row.
Why not just remove all other cards when a majority of the community only use these two decks? They need to find a way to deal with this shit.
Yeah, I get the further you get in ranked the larger variety of decks you'll see but from 25 - 15 having to play exclusively mechmage counter is really dumb, but it is the most effective way to shovel through the shit.
I really like this game but it's so rare that I get to have fun on it other than on duels but I'm no longer even bothering changing or making new decks because most people just play the same dull decks I've already seen, I really like the friends I've made here and I like talking and duelling you guys and people ask me how come I'm inactive and barely chat on battlenet but I'm so bored with this that I'm not even doing the quests for gold because I know I'm going to have to play my same exact deck against like 10 different people in casual/ranked who use the same identical deck with not a single card different.
I like the creative part of the community but the rest is rotten right through honestly. If the new expansion doesn't change things up and add more variation or at least weaken the current meta, then I am probably going to just not play until the next adventure if it sounds interesting enough.
Those who have me added on battle.net feel free to add me on steam though, if I have not already told you so, if I'm not on one then I'm on the other unless I'm not at a computer at all.
