And rightfully so. So far, the only reddit comments I've seen was "So what? Magma Rager and Booty Bay Bodyguard were never used." It makes me sick. Those are going to be the same people that will say the same thing when the cards above that we've leaked are released in the future expansions.
This is how games DIE. First people don't care and then you wake up two years later, no one is playing but hackers and kids. Year after that there is no one.
Hunter gets a second legendary btw: [t]https://scontent-fra3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/t31.0-8/11895043_966946280014807_7455975612449651225_o.jpg[/t]
4/2 body for 7 mana... it's a good effect but doubt its worth
Can't wait for the inevitable Kripp video.

Nobody would still play Magma Rager but I agree that undeniable power creep is just dumb. Edit: You could also make Magma Rager a 6/1 for Shadowflame fuel.
It's not powercreep because nobody had to spend 100 gold on a pack to get BBB and Magma Rager, they are free starter cards.
Do I dare count the number of comments, in the most popular post about power creep, and see how many of them involve "stop whining" or the like? Would I even be able to stomach that? Also, meanwhile at Blizzard while designing cards...
did anyone also notice that evil heckler has taunt without any stat-loss whatsoever? this nerfs lost tallstrider as well
did anyone also notice that evil heckler has taunt without any stat-loss whatsoever? this nerfs lost tallstrider as well
Lost Tallstrider is a beast though. Beast syngergy is a thing and it's being pushed this Expansion as well.
did anyone also notice that evil heckler has taunt without any stat-loss whatsoever? this nerfs lost tallstrider as well
Tallstrider is a beast, and it's not always better than Sen'jin either because you want your taunts to have more health. Still, better than Booty Bay. This really soured my hype for this expansion.

I quit Hearthstone if they go above common rarity with the power creep. I will definitely continue playing for free after TGT, Blizzard won't see a dime from me for pulling that shit.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/OfWErzk.png[/t]
Shhhh, it's the first strike. Some of TGT cards are the second.
I'm not even sure if I want to continue playing Hearthstone, knowing the road that they're going down to. If it's a card that's a straight upgrade from another card that no one plays, apparently it's not power creep. You know what is a bit interesting though? The fact that it's a straight upgrade from Sen'jin Shieldmasta as well...but at the same time, it has worse stat distribution.
So we're discussing the death of Hearthstone? Would suck, having a good time, specially with my mates.
What the fuck Blizzard, buff Booty Bay and Magma Rager. Change 2 numbers in existing cards instead of making art and sounds for straight upgrades. [editline]qwe[/editline] Or make these class specific. [editline]qwe[/editline] Or change Booty Bay Bodyguard to Booty Bay Pirateguard and make it a pirate and change Magma Rager to Furious Chicken and make it a beast. Or just about anything other than the current situation. [editline]qwe[/editline] Make Magma Rager 6/1 and Booty Bay Bodyguard 5/5. I'm tearing my hair because of this decision
This would honestly bother me way more if booty bay and magma rager weren't just total shit tier cards that nobody ever plays, rarely even in arena. It is clear that Blizzard are interested in buffing cards the traditional TCG way: Releasing new cards in a new set, versus straight buffing old cards (even though being digital they have the capability to do so).

People has been complaining about power creep in TCG for years too. There is only ONE REASON why Blizzard would do that kind of shit through new cards, especially when you can easily buff the old ones? Money.
You could also see it as a way to give newer players stronger cards ealier on in the game, because the game is very punishing for new players, given how much time or money you have to spend to make good decks. Much in the same way the new big cards like North Sea Kraken and that other 7 mana 5/9. I agree that it's a dumb move to make upgrades of other cards, but I can also see why they would do it, when the card pool is becoming so much larger.
This is how games DIE. First people don't care and then you wake up two years later, no one is playing but hackers and kids. Year after that there is no one.
"This is how games die" Yep, totally how magic the gathering died despite being still popular decades later, while having a massive amount of power creep in current sets vs older ones.
"This is how games die" Yep, totally how magic the gathering died despite being still popular decades later, while having a massive amount of power creep in current sets vs older ones.
Magic is not an online video game. You can't pull that shit out and expect everyone to be okay with it when people can take their stuff and go play elsewere, where it doesn't happen.
Chances are those cards won't see play outside of Arena, but i agree it's not a good way of "buffing" cards. I mean, a 3 mana 5/2 is still as bad as a 3 mana 5/1. Definietly pissed off about those two cards, but i dont think this marks the death of Hearthstone. Those two cards are certainly not bothering me. They won't have a large impact on the game itself right now, they are still mediocre cards IMO.
lmao what it being online changes literally nothing
Most of the people playing HS never played TCG in their lives (or played it very briefly and quit). Because of shit like what's happening right now, forcing them to pay shitloads of cash to get a good deck.
Of all the things about hearthstone, people saying they'll quit because of 2 horrible cards getting upgrades was the last thing I expected
Most of the people playing HS never played TCG in their lives. Because of shit like what's happening right now, forcing them to pay shitloads of cash to get a good deck.
I joined when BRM was about to launch. I think I have some solid decks now. You don't need to pay shitloads of cash, and I do not play 18h every day. It's all about how you use your starting gold (wich I didn't do that well on EU) and having strategies on what to dust/leave/buy. There are many sucessful budget decks everywhere. Some of them are even legend. It's definietly possible to get a good deck, without paying shitloads of money as you said. It's all about if you have patience and know what are you doing.
I'm not even sure if I want to continue playing Hearthstone, knowing the road that they're going down to. The fact that it's a straight upgrade from Sen'jin Shieldmasta as well...but at the same time, it has worse stat distribution.
Serious honest question time Why is power creep into a minion that is slightly more playable than an unplayable card (but still is pretty unplayably bad) a big deal, at all? I want to know an honest logical answer why something like this is so bad that you are willing to quit hearthstone over it. Coming from someone who's experienced much worse power creep than this in a game where you literally -have- to buy more hard copies of cards to stay competitive, this is hardly worth raising an eye over. I'm talking a game where the power creep goes from being balanced/good to OP insane "you can't win at all unless you have these expensive new cards in your deck". Hearthstone is not even close to hitting that, and making Magma Rager have one more health in a new card is never going to cause a situation where everyone is running only broken OP baseline strong cards that leave everything in the classic set in the dust. If the worry is that this sets a precedent of just having OP broken shit that invalidates old sets completely, then lets cross that bridge when we get there. Because that certainly hasn't happened yet and still isn't going to happen with "buffed magma rager"
so because someone doesnt know much about something the game dies? that would mean magic should be dead or does it being digital somehow make it different?
People tend to abandon Pay2Win games. It's a fact, just ask Tribes fans.
I think it would be fair to new players to buff old basic cards instead of releasing straight upgrades as collectible cards. imo updating the basic set is something they'll have to do at some point anyway. As new cards are released basic decks just get shittier in comparison.
It's not the cards themselves, it's what they represent. The oncoming doom of MTG like situation where you have to get the newest expansion to even try constructed. More Doctor Booms forcing people to waste their money or tons of time to even get that newest power creep shit that is in every single deck.
if worst comes to worst and the power creep is real, theyl probably start releasing cards in seasons and only allowing new prints of old/new cards into ranked
This is just an overcomplicated way of buffing/nerfing cards.
