Demonfuse's art will never not crack me up. Just look at that satyr, he's so happy. "Haha, he payed TWO mana to give his opponent a mana crystal! Haha!"
its funny but god damn i hate it when streamers are like "THATS GONNA BE HIGHLIGHTED" i mean fuck its funny dont ruin it
I feel the same when something crazy happens in a stream then the whole chat just spams "TROLDENNNNNNNNNNNNNN"

Does anyone have tips on Arena Value?
Does anyone have tips on Arena Value?
take the mana cost multiply it by 2 and add 1 If the stats meets that number, it's a good card most of the time For example, at 3 mana you have spider tank. 3 x 2 = 6 + 1 =7 Spider tank is a 3-4. 3+4 =7. So it's decent in arena. Same with harvest golem 2-3, 2-1 2+2+3+1 = 8 It actually exceeds as a card, however the 2-1 dies easily. Look at boulderfist ogre as well. 6-7 6+7 = 13 It's mana cost is 12. Add 1 and it's 13. Certain effects add/negate value as well. Like, a battlecry or charge usually cost a minion some stats. Warrior's card, Korkron Elite loses 2 health for his charge effect. Wolf rider loses 3. Ironbark protector is only 16 in stats, and(not 17) but makes up for it with taunt. Another good example is the Ambusher card rogue has. It's a 4 mana 5-5! Insanely good stat wise(10 for something that should be worth around 9 stat points at best). The downside is it returns a minion to your hand when it dies, which in most cases ISN'T worth it. Same thing applies to dancing swords, it's a 4-4 for 3 which is 1 over what it should be, at the huge downside of giving your opponent a card. [editline]15th August 2015[/editline] also, use this site http://www.heartharena.com/
also, use this site http://www.heartharena.com/
Just note that the algorithm sometimes isn't the best thing in the world. Think of it as a more advanced Innkeeper guide for Arena.
-MOTHER FUCKING MATH!!!-
So the Murloc Raider would be 4. Is there a minimum in terms of tiers?
So the Murloc Raider would be 4. Is there a minimum in terms of tiers?
the rule doesnt apply to 1 drops(and murloc raider would be 3, not 4) Most of the 1 drops don't work well later on, except for the obvious (chow, northshire, flame imp, mana wyrm) 1 drops are nice when on curve, and garbage when not.
:snip:
Does anyone have tips on Arena Value?
no but I was thinking about writing up a value guide for the game so here are some general guidelines: 1. 1 mana is worth 2 stats on a minion. Vanilla minions that cost X mana should have a total of 2X+1 total stats. -Examples: Spider Tank (3 for 3/4), Yeti (4 for 4/5), Pit Fighter (5 for 5/6), Boulderfist (6 for 6/7) 2. Drawing an additional card is worth 2 mana; drawing a card through a cantrip (drawing a card in addition to some other effect while expending the card) should be worth 1 mana. -Examples: --Hammer of Wrath is a subcar cantrip - the 3 damage is worth about 2 mana (based on cards like Darkbomb, Frostbolt, and Quickshot), meaning the additional card is worth 2 mana. Compare that to the autoinclude Power Word: Shield, which gives +2 health (worth 1 mana) and the card for essentially free --Fan of Knives is another good cantrip, which is basically an Arcane Explosion (worth 2 mana) plus an additional mana to draw a card --Arcane Intellect 3 mana for 2 cards (worth 1 mana for the first card drawn and 2 for the additional) --Nourish: 5 mana for 3 cards --Sprint: 7 mana for 4 cards --Warlock Hero Power - 2 mana, draw a card (and take some damage) --Good Card Draw: Ancient of Lore: a body worth 4.5 mana plus an additional 2.5 mana to draw 2 cards. --Mediocre Card Draw: Novice Engineer 2 mana to summon a 0-mana wisp and draw a card 3. Direct damage is roughly worth twice as much as healing. Direct damage should deal (1+mana cost) as a value baseline. -Mage vs. Priest hero power -Healing Touch vs. Shadow Bolt -Moonfire -> Holy Smite/Arcane Shit -> Darkbomb/Frostbolt -> Shadow Bolt -> Fireball (the value!) 4. Secrets have an effect which is worth one more mana than the cost to play it -Bear Trap summons a 3-cost bear for 2 mana -Avenge grants 2.5 mana worth of stats for 1 mana 5. Hero powers are equivalent to drawing and playing a 0-cost card -Mage hero power = Moonfire -Paladin hero power = Wisp 6. Cards have inherent value to them (cue Wisp infinite value jokes) -More apparent at lower card costs: e.g. almost all 2 drops which are 2-3 or 3-2 have an extra effect even though they already have the best stats for the cost - compare that to Yeti/Boulderfist which have similarly ideal vanilla stats but no special effects 7. Unreliable, counter-able, or random effects are stronger than consistent ones -A card with Deathrattle will almost always have more value than one with Battlecry (Novice Engineer vs. Loot Hoarder, Razorfen Hunter vs. Harvest Golem). Up to you if you value the immediate impact of battlecries or value of deathrattles more -Flamecannon is a Shadow Bolt with a 1 mana discount for being random -Deadly Shot is an Assassinate with a 2 mana discount for being random -Charge minions have shit stats due to their uncounterable nature (aside from taunts) -Also if cards have drawbacks (e.g. Succubus, Doomguard, Deathlord) the cost of the drawback will often exceed the value gained. For instance Succubus gains 1 mana worth of stats in exchange for discarding a card (worth 1-2 mana). This doesn't necessarily mean the card is bad, just that you need to have a good reason of playing it. 8. The value of common effects can vary based on minion cost: -Example: Taunt is free for 0-1 drops, 0.5 mana for 2-4 drops, 1 mana for 5+ --Goldshire Footman, Senjin, Fen Creeper... -Divine Shield is worth about 1 mana across the board --e.g. Wisp -> Argent Squire, War Golem -> Force Tank MAX -Windfury is worth 1-2 mana, increasing as minion cost does --Dragonhawk pays 1 mana for it (compared to wisp), Windfury Harpy pays 2 (compared to Yeti) Probably forgetting stuff but now you can look at a card, figure out the costs of its effects, and see whether the card is good or not. E.g. Sunwalker is an average card for its costs, while Fire Elemental is 6-mana card that's probably worth ~7 mana (5 mana worth of stats + a 2-mana Darkbolt).
Just note that the algorithm sometimes isn't the best thing in the world. Think of it as a more advanced Innkeeper guide for Arena.
It's pretty darn good though. A normal arena draft might only stray a few pick from heartharena's suggestions. Even if you follow it perfectly you'll have a decent deck. It also gives a good idea about what cards are absolute trash.
if you want to get good at arena just watch streamers (kripp, trump, etc)
if you want to get good at arena just watch streamers (kripp, trump, etc)
The HearthArena guys themselves also stream! (ShadyBunny as well, but he's not a dev, he's a guest)
if you want to get good at arena just watch streamers (kripp, trump, etc)
ratsmah is pretty good as well. He also tends to play a larger variety classes with a greater degree of success than other streamers.
So is Polymorph going to be renamed to Polymorph: Sheep?
So is Polymorph going to be renamed to Polymorph: Sheep?
Well the Stampeding Kodo doesn't actually use a kodo for the card art, so I'd doubt they'd try to go for that consistency. :v:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/HXpLXhR.jpg[/t] revenge
That is great. I have this pic [t]http://i.imgur.com/LFKyvGP.jpg[/t] but then I got bodied next turn by frothing berserkers because deathlord popped an unstable ghoul out for him
i really like ratsmah i just can't stand the music he plays
I guess I'm kinda lucky in that regard because a sime of the rap he listens to is the same stuff I do. Can't really stand the K-pop though, and his habit of singing along to songs is often... grating. Also unrelated but my friend bought me the 50 pack preorder as a thank you for getting him and our greater friend group into hearthstone back when the free wing of Naxx was released. I'm pretty over the moon about it. Blizz really needs to bring those back, it's probably the easiest time to incentives new players to pick up the game.
Right thanks for tips on value guys, I'm almost to 150 but after a fucking bullshit game of HS involving several duplicates, Emperors, and Heal Bots, I think Imma take a break for a bit. ...Mother fucking mages can go burn in hell.
HOLY SHIT YES
HOLY SHIT YES
Nice! Ancient of Lore!
HOLY SHIT YES
At least TGT brought in some big beasts that are appropriate targets for Hemets wrath. I mean, he's still crap but at least he's no longer an overpriced boar killer.
time to shine, hemet
So for those of you who don't trawl the Leddits or relentlessly stalk Ben Brodes twitter you may not have noticed that this card: [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CMd_pXtWEAAA0n_.jpg[/t] Is absent from the expansion despite being teased. What gives? Apperantly the card was cut at the very last minute due to balance issues, which is unfortunate considering it appears to be a Joust Pirate. Fear not though, as Brode has reassured us that someday we may see this lizard (who is riding a different lizard, I might add) in game. What could be the effect that was so powerful it was deemed 'too wild for TGT'? I don't know, but I like to imagine it involved more lizards jousting on top of other lizards.

If yours wins, you instantly win the whole game.
Joust. If yours wins, you instantly win the whole game.
Won't see play.
So do we have an actual ETA on the expansion release? It said "august" last time I checked and im slowely building up a ton of gold.
No news currently. The only ideas currently are August 24th due to some internal stuff with the promo cardpacks. The upcoming patch on the 18th also seems to suggest this possibility.
