I know I mentioned it before, but people who keep saying Spellslinger is [I]the[/I] card all tempo Mage should be running now are absolute morons. I don't fucking care that it gives your opponent a card "he didn't purposely put in his deck". It's a fucking [I]shit[/I] card.
Any suggestions for a replacement 3-4ish drop?
i don't know about spellslinger being a shit card but i think it's probably misused
kinda like how some people play tracking on turn one when you should obviously be saving it up for when you need to finish a combo, or to get out of a tight spot
if i played spellslinger i'd probably use it the same way, using it for when desperately need removal or damage for lethal, not as a turn 3 drop

I wouldn't necessarily say Spellslinger is [i]shite[/i]. If anything, it's a bit more in favor of Mage considering the general spell synergies like Mana Wyrm, Sorcerer's Apprentice, Archmage Antonidas, etc. and that it can give you an immediate answer if you need one, but at the same time I do agree that it's not [i]essential[/i] in Tempo Mage.
I've had Spider Tanks and Harvest Golems as my three-drops for my Control Mage and they've done pretty well despite the deck having literally no Mech synergy involved. Although, I'm guessing you're wanting a Tempo Mage, but even then I like Spider Tank on its own.

I dunno. This explanation from a popular deck in particular is stupid:
"A really strong card that gives you even more spells to combo with your other minions. Since the deck is "fast" you pretty much always have the time to play the spell. I've never had a moment when I've lost because of the spell my opponent gets because they still have to pay mana to use the spell which they necessarily don't want to ever do."
You mean my opponent won't want to use this Swipe/Fireball/Whatthefuckever against me just because he didn't hand-place it in his deck? There are a tiny fraction of spells that will be completely useless depending on what class you are/are playing against: Totemic Might, Shield Slam, Blade Flurry and other weapon-related ones. Other than those? Your opponent probably won't hesitate.

I'm not exaggerating here, I have gotten 6 shielded mini bots (and 1 zombie chow) from jousting in a row and lost every single joust, I am running a control deck full of high cost minions. This mechanic is infuriating.

If you tie, you should win. They put a lot of faith into the mechanic when it's pretty flawed. The value from winning a joust isn't even all that incredible, and any deck will have low cost cards just because of tempo or tech.
A problem I see with TGT is that there's no new Sludge Belcher. Belcher was and still is a game changer, but the best taunts they've added in TGT is two for dragon decks (a legendary and an epic), some warrior stuff, and the "power creep but still bad" Evil Heckler. Dragon Priest looks like a lot of fun but dat cost.
TGT has only really helped push mid-range like Totem Shaman, control IMO still isn't all that viable for a lot of classes as an average person who doesn't have the majority of legends and epics. (Despite opening 80 TGT packs)
I'm really enjoying Totem Shaman so far, loads of fun.
Thunder Bluff Valiant's just insane, love that card to death.
Mistcaller is a bit slow, but that effect is just so cool. Also, gonna start running Brewmasters with it just for shits and giggles.

not at all, there are very few, if any (with the exception of dragon and mech decks obviously) decks that use more cards from expansions than classic ones
