Should I download the High Resolution Pack or are there better mods out there?

Texture mods are way better. The Texturepack DLC had bugs in it ffs.
Skyrim HD 2K and Skyrim Realistic Overhaul (Google it, Nexus removed it cause the guy was dick (pay for mod)) alone are better than the Official HD Pack.
The same team that makes Skywind is making Skyblivion. Skyblivion seems to be lower priority.
Skywind has some pretty decent voice acting:

Michelle is really talented. Not that I'm much of a judge. But I was pretty impressed.

Why did ZeniMax Online make their first game a MMO under the Elder Scrolls trademark?

Because its popular?
I've heard people acting like this is better than vanilla Skyrim. I haven't found this to be the case and that's an unrealistic expectation anyway.
According to the mod description not all of the quests tend to hold your hand with quest markers. To me that makes it already better than Skyrim, even if the landmass design itself is a bit bland.
Can we please just accept that gunpowder doesn't exist on Nirn and that nobody thought of enchanting a piece of wood with fire magic to cause enough pressure to explosively expel a bullet at high speeds toward someone considering why do that when you can just shoot the fire at the dude
I honestly never want to see firearms in a TES game. I'd be like watching a new season of Game of Thrones and suddenly everyone's pulling out muskets.
I agree 100%. Not everything needs to converge towards gunplay.

Guy was bitching about bugs in ESO beta, I said it's a beta, of course there are bugs. That was his reply.
he's basically right though, by the time something's in beta any major bugs probably won't get fixed by the time the game ships
Recently got a new laptop, so I installed Skyrim, what mods should I get this time? Things that change perks and stuff to make it more balanced/make useless stuff useful and make the game a bit harder
Yep :D
I'm gonna work on finishing the block perk tree all day this evening as a matter of fact, hopefully.
Then all I have left to do is Light Armor and Archery before the first "combat-stuff only" version is ready.
I really have no idea how to handle light armor though. I figured I'd keep it just like it is in Skyrim and just re-do the perk tree (as light armor would then become the "simple, no-frills defense" option versus Heavy Armor which requires more stamina balancing to reap the benefits of HA), but then stuff like Glass armor would literally be a direct upgrade over leather and other such stuff no matter what skill level. Which goes against a major point in my mod in that "more advanced" armors/weapons aren't necessarily better for you depending on your playstyle (i.e. daedric armor makes you a fuckton more slower than iron while also increasing stamina usage while using it, but it has the best defense).
I thought about adding a random chance for each hit against you to be a "critical hit", which would simply stagger you fully with a screen effect for a brief second, and the lower your skill (along with having a more complex armor like Glass on, making it so you'd need to be higher level to wear Glass without a big impact) would increase this chance happening. But I don't think I really like the idea of doing that, and it sounds like it could get annoying especially when I use stagger mechanics so heavily in the other skills.
Maybe light armor will just ever-so-slightly affect your speed (glass making you slower than leather), while keeping everything else like vanilla?

I dont know if it would be hard to implement, but for light armors you could add a "armor degradation" to where over time they lose armor value from taking hits.
This would give glass and other high level light armors drawbacks as you would need their respective ores and ingots to repair them.
edit- It would also reward people who avoid getting hit and higher level people who would have less armor degradation and more stamina to keep gaps between them and their enemy. If you really want to get technical with it you could also change how much degradation their armor takes based on the hit they recieved, like a power attack would lower the armors value much more than a bash.
That sounds cool but I have no idea how to do that, and it sounds more apropreate for smithing skill. Which... I kind of wanted to avoid doing since I think there are other mods that "fix" smithing and enchanting and such much better than I could.
[editline]15th July 2013[/editline]
Though with SKSE I think I can just directly change the armor rating stats of certain armors (this might change ALL armor though, not sure), or simply add an invisible effect to the player that reduces their effective AR per "hit token" I have on it, with certain attacks causing more hit tokens to be applied and each armor type would cost more to repair depending on what type of armor they are. This could be really irritating to implement though since I'd ideally like to make it so a player could pay for repairs, which involves editing blacksmith dialog and other annoying stuff that would make it pretty incompatible (I think?) with any other mods that changed blacksmiths n stuff.
Only a degradation system could fix smithing and I've only seen one mod which adds that. It was in very early development.
Why is the Northgril at the very south pffft lore-breaking mod
If its happening on the xbox then it probably doesnt have to do with your mods, even then just showing us a list of your mods won't help us.
I meant that the video from youtube i linked is from an xbox. I just get the very same bug on my pc, with that load order.
I know, I am saying if the problem is occurring on an xbox then the issue is probably with the actaul game and not the mods.
Also showing us a list of your load order will not help us, you could try posting a papyrus log and see if it gives any info.

Then the mods shouldn't be the problem.
Which cfg do you open and edit to make it so favorited weapons appear on your person?

What if degradation was temporary? Everytime you get hit in light armor your armor rating drops by a few points and goes back to normal after a few seconds, meaning you're rewarded for dodging instead of letting yourself get hit too many times in a row (which is heavy armor's strong suit). Different kinds of armor could change either duration or amount of points lost after each hit
It wouldn't really make any realistic sense but neither would adding armor degradation to light armor only, and I personally hated having to repair armor in oblivion already

Using this map:
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/politicalmapqb8.jpg[/t]
I calculated the distance from Whiterun to Riverwood as 41 miles. Doable in ~8 hours if you're a fast walker.
The maths is kinda hazy, but I'm fairly satisfied. Fits nicely with the scale I'd imagined the game taking place.

Thats a good idea. So taking 2 or so hits wouldn't do anything but the more you got hit consecutively the lower your AR is until eventually its as if you aren't wearing anything.
Or maybe each hit does a very small amount of screen shake style stagger and the more you get hit the more intense it is until you eventually get fully staggered, with more advanced armors being more strenuous for this, requiring a good skill to use them effectively (so using glass at 15 skill might cause you to get fully staggered on almost every hit but work normally at high level).
[editline]15th July 2013[/editline]
Though I feel like it might be overcomplicating it a bit, considering I wanted light armor to be the simpler option at the cost of simply not being as effective as heavy armor

Oh you want it simpler?
Just have it set up to where if someone is wearing light armor every npc just repeatedly calls them a pussy.
Pros:
Faster and more manueverable
Lighter
Simpler(could be con)
Cons:
Everyone calls you a pussy.
Seems balanced to me.
