I give it a few days before it ends up on the front page
Documents > My Games > skyrim > skyrim.ini Under [General] add: bDisableGearedUp=0 (default is 1) If that's what you're on about that is. I haven't been in this thread for a good 3-4 months so things might've changed. :v:
It's very nice to use when you play a magic oriented character who doesn't use weapons, but God forbid if you play anything that requires you to switch weapons mid-fight. Invisible weapons and weapons stuck to your/npcs hands all around.
Who needs to swap weapons mid-fight?
Bow -> melee, dual-wield <--> 1H and shield, etc.
Bow -> melee, dual-wield <--> 1H and shield, etc.
There's no accounting for taste, but I'd consider that swapping combat style.
I liked a lot of things about Farcry 3. This was, without doubt the [sp]best[/sp] fucking thing in the entirety of it. [editline]15th July 2013[/editline] Using this map: [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/politicalmapqb8.jpg[/t] I calculated the distance from Whiterun to Riverwood as 41 miles. Doable in ~8 hours if you're a fast walker. The maths is kinda hazy, but I'm fairly satisfied. Fits nicely with the scale I'd imagined the game taking place.
Argonia? I thought it was Black Marsh? [editline]3:36PM[/editline] ahh alright just another Mer name

I don't get why Nexus gets such a bad rap here, you guys just blow it out of propor-*sees Skyrim Strap Ons mod* ...I'm sorry was I saying something?
I don't get why Nexus gets such a bad rap here, you guys just blow it out of propor-*sees Skyrim Strap Ons mod* ...I'm sorry was I saying something?
I see your avatar is the perfect representation of what happens to one's eyesight after going to the nexus
the thing about gearedup is that if you press hotkeys to switch weapons sometimes you'll have the old weapon glued to your hands and it looks really crazy
Just sheath your weapon before you switch. I know it is annoying, but it actually makes sense from a roleplaying standpoint. I still don't understand how Bethesda could scrap a feature just because of that one bug... oh, wait, this is Bethesda we are talking about. :v:
Who needs to swap weapons mid-fight?
I always start fights by shooting guys with arrows, it's impractical to have to slowly sheathe your bow so that it doesn't stay glued to your hand instead of just pressing a hotkey to get your sword out right away. Most people I ever saw playing do that, I'm surprised you even ask. Also, playing a stealth character, I also carry a dagger around. That's 3 weapons to switch between.

Can anyone help me? My Skyrim is crashing when I go outside, Its like Skyrim is trying to make my character a basement dweller, I been trying to get it work for 3 hours now, I disabled all mods, made a new character, and it crashed after you leave the cave under Helgen, It also crashes if you COC to any outside cells, but not inside.
Well I only use a sword in combat, maybe a shout if I'm feeling frisky. I always imagined people'd stick with a single type.
yea, if I play an archer and get surrounded I just kite them while shooting arrows. dont even carry a melee weapon. also, I found this while browsing the nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22684/ highly recommend
Well I only use a sword in combat, maybe a shout if I'm feeling frisky. Even as a warrior type character I switched between a bow for combat initiating, sword and shield for archers/more numerous enemies and a hammer for 1 on 1 fun.
Deadly Dragons mod definitely makes the game more interesting. Walked up to the gate in Riften when a Storm Dragon showed up. [T]http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e329/Chaos_Shadow2237/Skyrim/ScreenShot183-1.png~original[/T] Everything died
Complain all you want. doesn't change the fact that those strapons are really well modelled.
Been a good 4 months since I last played Skyrim, thinking of starting it up again. Should I? :v:
Complain all you want. doesn't change the fact that those strapons are really well modelled.
Just an another case of a waste of talent, imagine if all the Nexus modders who make all these kinky clothes for teenage wankers made fitting armour and weapons instead.
Just an another case of a waste of talent, imagine if all the Nexus modders who make all these kinky clothes for teenage wankers made fitting armour and weapons instead.
I'm not including strap-ons in this statement, but fitting armor all comes down to what's fitting for what you want out of the game really. If we all went down a one-way street, there'd be no need for modding in the first place. Don't lament everyone not conforming to your standards. Rejoice in it and do feel free to show us those armors you deem fitting, we can't make them for you, when they're in your head.
Am I the only one that doesn't like how the Thalmor are handled? It's like in Bethesda the writers did work on a more complex political plot where there's no clear good guys or bad guys, and then someone said "wait shit this is too complicated we need to put in comic book villains that everyone can hate" and so the Elf-Nazis were born. The same goes for Caesar's Legion in NV, although obviously that wasn't Bethesda.

It's all slightly jarring.

I don't expect nor want anybody to conform to my standards, I do not use many mods anyway. It's just sad to see the stuff that gets featured on the Nexus.
Who needs to swap weapons mid-fight?
As an archer warrior character, I don't want to keep shooting my bow at a bandit Highwayman that is 1 foot up in my face. I switch to my sword and shield.
No, it was because of Bethesda, actually. They rushed Obsidian to no end and iirc, they cut the development time by a year or so.
And it still better than Fallout 3, my god.

It's like, don't even go up to wandering Thalmor if you don't want to end up killing them, because all the god damn dialogue options pretty much lead to a fight.
As an archer warrior character, I don't want to keep shooting my bow at a bandit Highwayman that is 1 foot up in my face. I switch to my sword and shield.
I generally speaking get my combat styles tied with my characters' personalities. My archer character goes bow and arrow all day unless it's two-handed hack&slash in very close quarters. Then again, my vampire character is near opposite, going mid-close range Vampiric Drain EVERY TIME...except when assassinating from the shadows. Stealth kills are actually possible with the mods I currently have, so an Akaviri sword lets me pick the enemies out one by one. There was a time when I had to study the movement patterns of like 14 enemies in an area and then one by one picking them off and waiting in corners for others to pass. Shit was intense but I knew from previous quickloads that going ham was not an option (seriously fucking lightning spells instakill me regardless of armor). As for my Argonian, he's a shirtless fire-breathing brawler. He either punches or yells at you. By far the simplest character of my days. Also incidentally the sole male at the moment because hell yeah he's buff as fuark. Oh and question: Do any of you actually use mods that change how companions or "loyal" NPC's look? I've never used any of them in my 200 hours of gametime in Skyrim but now I got one for Serana. Seems to work pretty flawlessly as it's a standalone and doesn't make her an absolute modern model...although it gets dangerously close.
You're joking, right?
I sort of agree that the fluff surrounding the Empire vs elves, the whole issue with the White-Gold Concordat or whatever is pretty interesting and not exactly black and white, though the Aldmeri are pictured as pretty sly and evil. That could have been interesting to explore, but in the game the Thalmer are as one person said, elf Nazis. What could have been an interesting conflict turned into roaming gangs of Nazis and one infiltration mission into a building you can't access ever again.
