holyyyy fuuuuuck is there any way I can get rid of the "tap" sound that plays when I highlight a mod in NMM? it is annoying and pisses me off
I was looking up general skyrim stuff yesterday, and I find it hilarious looking at old forum discussions of skyrim several months before it came out and seeing people saying things like "Don't worry, gamebryo's gone for good", "It's nice to see beth make an engine for a change" - my personal favorite, "So glad they finally are ditching the engine they used to make Morrowind"
So like the dumb idiot I am I went and got a bunch of mods to make Skyrim more versatile and interesting and instead I made it a gangbang face-fuckin' extravaganza (not literally). It is motherfucking DIFFICULT to play now. One of the beginning quests for the companions had TROLLS in it. I tried being a Goodie McCoolguy by not using fast travel and using horses to go from quest to quest but it was a futile effort since every time I'd run into something that would want to kill me, I'd ride away, dismount, then go and fight and they'd kill my fukken horse EVERYTIME setting me back 1k gold. One of the quests I was sent on was near Derkeethus so I went and got him first, loaded him up with armor and weapons from shit I was killing along the way, got to the quest, killed the bandits, fast traveled back to Whiterun since my horse was dead, then immediately a courier talked to me. "Oh, whats this? It's probably the Jarl from Falkreath I can buy land or whatever." Nope. Instead I get a letter saying DERKEETHUS FUCKING DIED. How? He was alive before I fast traveled. I have NEVER had a follower die on me unless I accidentally struck them while they were down and killed them. Doing combat in general fucks me six ways from Sunday if I don't carefully plan it out. Being ambushed is a REAL threat now. If I don't keep my eyes peeled for bandits wandering through the vegetation I can die faster than I can say "Oh shit". Before, on my vanilla runs of Skyrim I could be a little careless and if I really fucked up I could use potions and food to keep me on my feet. In this version of Skyrim, I'm hoarding every potion and scrap of food possible and it's still not enough. I've actually been using my levelups for when I'm out of food and potions and need a heal desperately. Which also means I'm using every style of combat I can possibly use, so I can quickly level up and have it on stand by for when I really need it. In the end I both like and hate these changes I've made to Skyrim. It is as a whole more interesting and challenging, but with the changes it also becomes ungodly more frustrating.
holyyyy fuuuuuck is there any way I can get rid of the "tap" sound that plays when I highlight a mod in NMM? it is annoying and pisses me off
I didn't notice it until you mentioned it
It blows my mind that we still don't have mods that actually overhaul the cities and expand on them yet Unless we do and in that case someone please point me in the right direction. I've never used the world editor tools otherwise i'd do it myself. I miss doing level design, all this work with scriping and such can get tiring when I'm a designer/artist at heart. It would probably be good to have something to do that is level design related again to break things up a bit..

Lemme see if I can pull a video up. Here's for Dawnstar [editline]5th May 2013[/editline] Here we go, I found a whole list of mods that are focused on adding more detail to cities: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=119264468 You could also give this mod a look, it focuses on the smaller villages such as Dragon Bridge and Rorikstead: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17406/?

I'm talking stuff like Balmora Expanded (a Morrowind mod that pretty much doubled the size of balmora and added a bunch of neat stuff that was pretty logical to be there), except for Skyrim
Yes going to the options menu to manually adjust the volume level of the game every time you want to turn things down for a moment, or to adjust the volume of music in the background (for media volume) or to turns things up for a brief moment, etc is perfectly fine Or bethesda could actually properly code a full screen program that doesn't completely disable volume and key function keys (among other system-important keys mind you, the volume ones are just the most obvious ones) and make a game that is properly alt-tab friendly, both of which are the kinds of mistakes you'd see in programming from games in the late 90's and early 2000's when such things weren't known standards and the OS's never supported them.
this happens to me, too, as it did in the latest Fallouts. have you tried/does it work when you open the Steam overlay?
So, fuck Morrowind Overhaul for being a broken sack of shit. I install it and immediately the fucking thing crashes Morrowind on startup. Run as admin, run the launcher, generate distant land, doesn't fucking matter, it won't go past the Bethesda logo. So I delete everything, reinstall Morrowind from scratch (despite this already being an otherwise unmodded install to start with), reinstall, and like magic, I can run through chargen. I stop into Whatsisname's Tradehouse in Seyda Neen because I need a long blade and not a dagger, and the game crashes. Try to reload? Suddenly I can't load any armor meshes whatsoever, and I made no change in my load order. I ain't having this shit. I'm deleting everything again, and I'm deleting Morrowind Overhaul. Zero-star review. Fucking worthless.

Give this a try: http://www.somethingfornobody.com/blog/morrowind-modding-guide/ Don't go overboard following the guide blindly though. Know what your computer can handle and skip what it can't.
does disease resistance even do anything in oblivion? sure doesn't seem like it
Uh why does my character have blue glowing eyes
holyyyy fuuuuuck is there any way I can get rid of the "tap" sound that plays when I highlight a mod in NMM? it is annoying and pisses me off
It really amazes me people are still using NMM. I mean installing mods is so simple, 9/10 mods require you to copy a Textures folder and/or a .bsa and .esp files to your installation directory. It's not that hard. The only mod which requires some work is the static mesh improvement but you can use wrye bash for that.
I hate having to alt-tab just to adjust my volume.
Actually you can just open the steam overlay and use on-keyboard volume keys there. That's working for me anyway.
does disease resistance even do anything in oblivion? sure doesn't seem like it
It's not very noticeable at first, but if you play a human character, then switch to Argonian (or vice versa), you're going to notice a difference.
The problem is I have a tendency to go overboard, so having the ability to quickly uninstall a mod and have it on standby for later is extremely useful to me.
I think that both Wrye Bash and Mod Organizer have those features, and they are much better programs for mods than NMM is.
It blows my mind that we still don't have mods that actually overhaul the cities and expand on them yet
There's that Better Cities mod in the nexus.
Any of you guys have tried playing with an enchanted fork?
Any of you guys have tried playing with an enchanted fork?
Fork of horripilation. I kill stuff with it.
There's that Better Cities mod in the nexus.
Oh neat, that's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Still a heavy WIP though with only parts of windhelm and a small amount of whiterun done.
I'm playing daggerfall, and apparently I angered the thieves guild somehow. I kept being attacked by rogues and thieves who did shitloads of damage to me, but they died pretty easily. So I went up to one and right as I was mid-swing he told me not to mess with the thieves guild anymore, and if I said no he'd kill me. I clicked yes, but I was in mid swing so when I closed the box I hit him. He just stood there and stared at me so I just walked away. Now I'm being followed constantly by people in green cloaks. And I'm scared as to whether or not they'll attack me. They just sort of stand at the entrance to the place I'm in at the moment.
oh god the faces in Oblivion are worse than I thought. I seriously cannot play it until that new facemod came out.
They didn't even use Gamebryo for Morrowind.
It was called NetImmerse at that time, later it was renamed Gamebryo. Then Bethesda fucked with it a bit more, and named it Creation.
