Are you talking about running a sharpening filter over them several times? Because that makes them look worse.
No he means when you upscale a texture then slap a generic tiling stone pattern or w/e on top of the original texture
FakeFactory does it and it's a heinous waste of VRAM and frametime
So it's practically the same thing?
So it's practically the same thing?
Not really. Using "detail" textures like that is essentially a way to give the appearance of detail close up without ugly tiling. It's a lot better than the sharpen filter. However some people seem to think it's ok to resize the texture then put the detail texture on manually, this is an awful waste of VRAM, and requires more GPU work. Using a pixel shader that multiplies the two is way more efficient.
So my Skyrim is bugged right now with the Dawnguard quest and I can't seem to find a solution. Everyone gets stuck on talking to Lord Whateverhisnameis but I have a totally different problem. After getting banished the quest, for me, is considered completed even though I haven't gone back to the fort. I don't have any extra objectives, it's just done. I can't move on in the Dawnguard questline now.
Any ideas?
Because fuck optimization, grass is a fucking big deal!

Congratulations, you've completed Dawnguard!
Just bought Skyrim for the 360 along with Hearth fire a couple weeks ago. I'm having some trouble getting the house plot for Falkreath. I've already done the quests for the Jarl (getting thee black briar mead and killing the bandit leader). I've been made thane of Falkreath hold as well. I'm not getting any dialogue options from either the Jarl or his steward. I've also not received any letters from couriers about adoption. Any ideas?

I figured it out. Had to manually start the next set of the questline in the console.
Ever just stop in game to look at the weather and the horizon and just forget all about everything, just enjoying the view?

I can't get over how bad somber ENB looks
The sun is grey
The black that should be on the shadowy areas of the trees is a dark blue
I think Skyrim is pretty until I see stuff like this.

Forget the fact that it's blurry, I think my character was freezing to death at the time, but dat view distance.

Honestly, I can live with Beth not having super-duper high res textures or massively dense foliage, but the game has a terrible LOD system.
It makes the game look like ass and honestly and I'd rather have a more limited view distance because of it.
Seriously, that and better shaders is all I want, without having to apply an ENB to my game.

I am not a graphics whore but, man, do I wanna puke when I reach the top of a mountain and look at the terrain around it. It is the single most infuriating thing about this game for be (besides mods crashing and shit).
So is there any way to optimize the way the game works with mods?
Even though my PC can handle the game in high I still have lots of infinite LS. Not running any script or gameplay altering mods besides Dual Wield Parrying and its anims.
Clear skies shout wouldn't give me an aurora after 3 tries, so I gave up
it'd tax your hardware quite a bit if LOD quality went up
a very good solution without having to do that though is implementing good fog
For night or for day? I don't think I tried it during night but in daytime it resulted in the bright sky
I could've changed the time of day to noon in hindsight, too, but these were taken very quickly
The weather is SkyrimClear_A, so you would get auroras at night. If you're using Climates of Tamriel, then I have no idea what the weather codes are.
What mods do you use for Oblivion?
Does anyone know where one can acquire the latest version of the Oblivion Character Overhaul mod? I don't have an account at the Nexus, and the friggin site is being (even more) idiotic at the moment by not accepting account registrations...
I may need to get that and play oblivion again.
Nexus sucks but it'll be up soon enough probably, just wait it out. AFAIK it's not available elsewhere
I see, thanks anyways!
In the meantime, I managed to find a link to an older version; I'll leave it here in case someone needs it (just click on the orange "Télécharger" button): http://www.jeuxvideopc.com/downloads/8690-the-elder-scrolls-4-oblivion/1389-reskins-models/download-34874.php
Is it just me or does Climates of Tamriel not work at all?
On both 32 and 64 bit OS's all the foliage looks like it is not responding to light (looks fullbright) while everything else is. It looks ugly as shit. Anything I'm doing wrong?

Imo, CoT looks weird to begin with... only thing that's going for it is the cloud textures.
Damn it Skyrim is really weird about how summoning works and I can't do this through pure script
Time to go on a journey through [del]time and space[/del] TESV.exe
You lack the WATER mod
Even with the current version of OCO, Cyrodiil has a few really ugly people

I think he's added by OOO or UL or something; he looks like a trainwreck no matter what mods you have installed
Found it. 'QTP Custom Road Texture -- and more'
I absolutely love that mod. QTP is hideous in a lot of places, and there's no alternative... but there's this
(not my pics)

God I always end up wanting to install oblivion after seeing shit like this but then I remember OBGE is an absolute cunt to set up
Here, I took the time to grab a few shots of my Skyrim... All it takes is the right mods yo
Well, tell me what you're using damnit.
so would anyone be able to enlighten me as to how this works? I trust boris, he may be a bigoted russian scumbag but he's good with shaders, but I'd like to know how he accomplished this
I can't tell you how it works but I can tell you that if it's your CPU that's the bottleneck, it won't help you. It lowered my framerate by about 10 FPS.
I've got a decent CPU so I tend to just get bottlenecked by my GPU when using super heavy hitting ENBs
Lightning mages are assholes on legendary mode.
Dodging ice/fire bolts is a fun challenge then you meet a lightning mage and get unlimited range hitscanned to death.
I spent twenty minutes or so hiding in the watchtower in Whiterun fighting the first dragon with a crossbow. Deadly dragons is hard as fuck.
