Oh jesus
Aren't you the guy with a scat fetish? [editline]6th May 2013[/editline] It's the mod for you!
I was looking up general skyrim stuff yesterday, and I find it hilarious looking at old forum discussions of skyrim several months before it came out and seeing people saying things like "Don't worry, gamebryo's gone for good", "It's nice to see beth make an engine for a change" - my personal favorite, "So glad they finally are ditching the engine they used to make Morrowind"
i remember when i called it out for being slightly changed gamebyro and everyone in basically every thread would freak out
edit: nvm figured it out :s (cant delete posts... wtf)
As soon as you step into the world of Skyrim it's obvious the creation engine is still used. The sound of the doors is almost identical to oblivion, the wonky physics when you move an object, items placed through floors, the quick save corruption, etc. Edit: by creation engine I mean gamebryo or whatever you might call it when it was used in Morrowind
And the shitty, blocky movement system.
I just finished modding my game AND I'M FUCKING PISSED! [t]http://s21.postimg.org/mvkfudbg7/2013_05_07_00001.jpg[/t]
Sounds are hardly an indication of oblivion, that's just bethesda being lazy and re-using assets from oblivion.
Well, if it worked, and it's for the same object, then why waste time re-making the same thing? [editline]7th May 2013[/editline] Also, tomorrow, I'll be uploading the Alpha version of Realistic Overhaul's weathers.

I think you guys are being too critical. Ive never had a problem with Skyrim engine.
I think you guys are being too critical. Ive never had a problem with Skyrim engine.
well apart from stuff like the graphical glitches agree.
So... My mind is thoroughly blown.
So... My mind is thoroughly blown.
i posted that in LMAO, and apparently it's fake. still makes more sense, and will be what i believe from now on regardless
Whether fake or not it's hilarious in context.
So... My mind is thoroughly blown.
so all the guards are married? to each other, i'd guess
If it's real, it makes sense. Being married really is like taking an arrow in the knee; debilitating.
If it's real, it makes sense. Being married really is like taking an arrow in the knee; debilitating.
even worse than that you're always in pain you can't do the things you've wanted to do you have to adjust your everyday life because of one thing you'll never be the same again all of your friends will feel sorry for you oh wait are we talking about marriage or arrows in knees?
what a cynical opinion of spending the rest of your life with someone you love you guys have
what a cynical opinion of spending the rest of your life with someone you love you guys have
What is love?
What is love?
Baby don't hurt me.... [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] fucks sake, now that song is stuck in my head
There's nothing wrong with Skyrim's quick save, it saves like a regular save.
On PS3, autosave is the devil.
On PS3, autosave is the devil.
On PC the autosave is the devil.
I think you guys are being too critical. Ive never had a problem with Skyrim engine.
Am I the only one who gets the occasional problem of opening a door and every fucking prop inside will explode and try to kill me for no raisin One time there was some fat loot in a dwarven cave behind a master lock and after I opened the gate everything fucking exploded and disappeared I could have cried
By "problem" you mean bugs and crashes, yes? There is a lot more to its problems than that. For starters, it's slow and it runs like a bag of dicks for what it is actually rendering. Vanilla Skyrim does not have advanced effects like SSAO or lighting effects like lightrays etc nor does it have any actual decent sized textures. Yet it can easily run like ass. It does run better than Oblivion though, which ran like total shit. And then there is the fact that the physics are wonky at best, lethal at worst. (Seriously, step on some stuff and it can kill you by flying into your face). It's not terrible, but I hardly consider it acceptable from a big AAA developer/publisher.
Ok. Now like i said, ive never had those problems. Its crashed on me like once or twice but thats it. It runs perfectly fine and physics work.
I've never had any physics explosions, but I've seen Mammoths drop from the sky, and an imperial legionnaire ride off into the clouds on his horse, only to fly by me later in a separate part of the world. Performance was terrible at first, then they optimized things and I was able to maintain a playable framerate, but only if I kept shadows on a maximum setting of High. It really could have been better.
On an only marginally related note, I find it really strange that Beth's idea of fixing smithing wasn't to lower it's effectiveness or something, but rather making it exceedingly hard to level, to the point where I have to basically power grind extensively to get it to increase in its higher numbers. I mean even spamming jewelry causes it to level slowly in the 90's range. Smithing still makes your defense insane, but is just stupidly hard to increase.
Made a couple of new helms and breast plates, and a new set of pauldrons shown in this screenshot [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/882981727980096414/9360CB78C1F7E39A28B951407235CAE2A113D8D7/[/t]
On PC the autosave is the devil.
Does it pick a random save to overwrite, and take about 10 minutes to do so. [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] Curse you Morrowind. It's annoying how I can put on shoes, but not boots.
I don't see what the problem is, an autosave system that's not related to the quicksave or hard save system is better than not having one, and having three autosave slots is better than just having one aka Morrowind.
