It's easier when you RP and don't just do quests.
For some reason the obligatory dungeon you have to go to in every quest is usually placed far away from the person you get the quest from.
I was talking with a friend earlier, and he got a quest to go all the damn way to Solstheim from Castle Volkihar.

Exactly what I'm doing, spent 6 hours today playing.
Was doing a quest for the dawnguard, had to walk from the right bottom of the map to the upper left corner, also LVLed my One Handed from 65 to 81 with just slaying monsters and doing other side quests on my adventure.
Don't know why i got disagrees with that last post. argonains are supposed to be rather weak in combat.
It goes something like this:
Dunmer
leaning magic. Ok at the others
Imperial: ok at everything. good with social skills.
Breton
ok at combat
ok at stealth
Good at magic
Khajiit:
great at stealth
Ok in combat
Shit at magic
Altmer
Great at magic
Ok (i think...) in combat
Shit at stealth (i think that's skill based... though being 6 foot tall at the minimum and yellow is probably coming into my judgement)
Argonian
Good at stealth
Good with alteration/illusion
poor at combat
Orsimer
Great at combat
ok at magic
poor at stealth (and social skills)
Redguard
Great at combat
good stealth
shit magic
bosmer
Great stealth
ok magic
shit combat
Silly voices
Nord:
good combat
Poor magic/stealth
it's pretty much true with every tes game. Though there are many types of khajiit's and argonians which are all very different... those types haven't actualy been seen in a game. I could probably have gone into how frail each character is against magic/physical stuff... but it took effort to do this anyway.

J'zargo disagrees with you.

I'm not sure where you're getting the fact that Argonians are good in stealth. In Morrowind, the skill boosts are split between magic (None of which are Alteration, by the way) and combat skills, having 4 magic skills as opposed to 3 combat, but having a +15 to Athletics while everything else only gets +5. By Oblivion, they really only got Security in terms of stealth skills, and still don't have Alteration. They're the most focused in stealth skills in Skyrim, but they still have two +5s in magic skills and a +5 to a combat skill. They also finally got Alteration, but ended up dropping Illusion for it.
Argonians (they prefer Saxhleel in Jel, their native tongue,[1] a word that seems to mean "People of the Root"[2]) are the little-understood reptilian denizens of Black Marsh. Years of defending their borders have made the Argonians experts in guerrilla warfare, and their natural abilities make them equally at home in water and on land. They have developed natural immunities to the diseases and poisons that have doomed many would-be explorers and conquerors of the region.[3] Their seemingly expressionless faces belie a calm intelligence, and many Argonians are well-versed in the magical arts. Others rely on stealth or steel to survive, and their natural agility makes them adept at either. They are, in general, a reserved people, slow to trust and hard to know, yet they are fiercely loyal, and will fight to the death for those they have named as friends.
I don't know where you are getting the idea that they are shitty at combat.
They also invaded Morrowind and conquered much of it but were slowly driven off by House Redoran

Also yes that looks great, but wait like an hour and let's see how it looks.
J'zargo disagrees with you.
He would, but he's not right. J'zargo isn't very powerful.
edit: argonians aren't totaly shit at combat. But they're rather flimsy. low endurance and not to great willpower. personality's pretty crap too.

J'zargo is the true arch mage, what right do you have to question his ability?
I'm playing some Daggerfall and have found a magic amulet, I'm wondering, how do you identify it?
Also, skeletons sounds fucking creepy.
Hit up your local mages guilds, and find the blonde girl with the pink sweater and a floating, glowing orange ball, or the bald guy with the beard.
Alternatively you could buy or create an identify spell with the spell maker.
LOD? DOF? ENB?
sounds like nerd loser speak to me hypocrite!

What!? Are you saying you have a 2.5? I have a 2.9! Reinitialize your ROM, it'll get easier if you activate the microfunctions. If that doesn't work, set m_multipopulation to 250 and a_diffusal to 59, then randomize the variables. Otherwise, restart your computer after you've updated cpmx.exe. Don't mind the UAC warning, it is just paranoid because you enabled uxd_filter_11.
Then you should have completed step 1 of how to install pretty much any mod which requires a patcher.

What the hell scrub, you forgot the step of downloading more RAM.

It really speaks measures about people when their first thought upon seeing a gate to Hell is to band together and kick Satan's teeth in.

iirc the argonians can be mind controlled by the hist or something
iirc the argonians can be mind controlled by the hist or something
I'm not sure if I would call it mind control. The Argonians rely on the Hist and vice versa, kind of like a symbiotic relationship. When Argonia was under attack during the Oblivion Crisis, the Hist were able to recall a bunch of Argonians from across Tamriel to defend their territory.
I'm having problems with a quest in the Dragonborn DLC.
(Dragonborn spoilers)
[sp]I'm stuck on the Cleansing the Stones quest, and when I use the Bend Will shout on the stones, the mind controlled people that are working on the stones will come out of their trance. But, nothing happens with the stones, and the quest doesn't progress. I have tried reloading saves and using console commands, but nothing happens. I also installed the unofficial dragonborn patch, but then disabled it thinking it was the problem.[/sp]
Anyone know of a way to fix this?
So I think I may have finally got this BethBryo facegen thing down after all those years of facegen'ing in FO3 through Skyrim with character faces that could only be described as downschildren and abominations.

Oh who am I kidding, the only reason this face doesn't look like an insult to the great Doctor Steinman is because of the hair.
[del]I don't remember the game looking that aliased when I took the picture...[/del]
What...
The...
Fork...
Is THAT?
Alien race?
Careful - you could spear a couple of onions on that chin.
They beat Dagon's ass.
Yeah, I'd say Argonians can be pretty much anything they want to, including warriors when they feel like it. I mean, you know a race is made from badass warriors when they make a Daedric Lord back the fuck off into his own territory.
I'm doing a fresh install with some graphic and gameplay mods.

Also, because of mods such as higher leveled enemies and extra spawn locations, me and Ralof killed a Thief on the way to riverwood. He had a full set of thieves guildmaster armor save the hood.
Nords have potential to be great with magic, but in time they have grown to hate magic and magic users almost as much as the Redguards do. A really good quote from the Sovngarde gatekeeper goes like this: "Well met, mage of Skyrim. The Nords may have forgotten their forefathers' respect for the Clever Craft, but your comrades throng this hall. Here in Shor's house we honor it still.".
Also the fact that Thu'um can be considered magic but only Nords and Dragonborn(s) can learn it. (right?)
I'd say it's more that only Nords have had access to it and the Thu'um is very well guarded overall. It was said by a character in Skyrim, I think it was Farengar who mentioned that the Voice is a form of very ancient magic. I can't see why Imperials, Redguards or Bretons couldn't learn it either, since the lore said that Paarthurnax passed it down to humans, not specifically Nords alone, albeit Nords happened to be around at the time so they got it. As for elves, argonians and khajits, maybe only Dragonborn non-humans can learn it. This is getting to theorycrafting but it's my two cents.
All races are equally good at everything in TES. There are minor differences such as the Altmer magicka boost or some racial powers you'll forget to use. But at end-game a Nord is as good a thief/sneak/whatever as an Khajiit. Stats only matter at the start, better pick a good race for roleplaying purposes.
In terms of gameplay they deliberately made race mean next to nothing beyond the first couple player levels.
