Who needs donger protection when you have SWAG
Is/are there a(ny) mod(s) for Oblivion that changes the horrible vanilla armours? They look absolutely ridiculous.
I want to update the graphics a bit so it isn't a pain to look at. I've already got Character Overhaul. I'd like to change the armour/weapons and the landscape as well.

Jesus Christ, searching various keywords relating to what I've just asked for on Oblivion Nexus and every page has some sort of nude or sexy mod as the most endorsed, and at least one sex/nude related mod per row. It's worse than Skyrim for that.
I realy liked oblivion's iron armour (apart from the helmet) and the dwemer from oblivion is probably my favourite dwemer set. Mithril/elven/glass was pretty hideous though. (morrowind has the best glass, Skyrim's elven is very nice) At least you're not wondering around a tundra in only a fur skirt?
I really didn't know about the corrupted saves from uninstalling mods and such, and I uninstalled a follower and a house. Nothing is corrupted, but is there something I can use to clean the save from uninstalling those 2 files? To prevent future corruption.
Edit: What about installing the mod again, would that mess up anything? I think what I said above is impossible.
So my fiance and I like to play Skyrim together. She plays it on Xbox and I play it on PC. But I've noticed that hers freezes quite often. Is this common on the consoles?

make sure it's not overheating or something
It doesn't over heat luckily. However I have noticed that there is a slight scratch on the disc. I'm going to go to EBGames tomorrow and get a replacement. Gameplay Guarantee's are so useful. Especially since I don't know where this scratch came from.
Normally these things don't affect it though so I'm not expecting that to fix it.

I wish that skyrim had a map kinda like Far Cry 2's. It would be difficult to do for sure in it, but it was really cool not needing to go into a different menu to check where you were.

AFAIK, there was a mod that did that.

Seems a bit clunky and not exactly what I wanted, but I'm gonna give it a try I guess :v:
I don't plan on installing any new mods,
but I'm at 5,968 KB with about 6 hours into the game and don't know if I need to restart or not.
This is after doing the 31 day method, and I have Unofficial Skyrim Patch that helps with it, too.
I don't have much mods either

I did some maths, and I'm about 25% done. I almost feel like I should have done this shit for NaNoWriMo or something.
Everyone wants a good combat mod that makes it interesting, but I don't think anybody's tried a combo-move based mod. How easy would that be to make? AFAIK it would just be adding speed and damage as you keep attacking unbroken, so you would have to keep peeps from blocking properly and/or bashthrough blocks as they come to sustain any good damage. It wouldn't be really realistic, but it would be fun as fuck.
Eh, I'd want a map that's drawn. The icons that cover everything (caves, towns etc) get drawn in with little annotations.
A journal dedicated to crafts such as alchemy or smithing would be pretty good if they were ever fleshed out. as would a journal where every page is dedicated to a quest. Perhaps some code/ vague writing so that officers of the law don't lock you in longer after reading it when you're arrested. (spells that hide what you've written would work too, but not as well) I mean a murderer wouldn't want to write about who he kills. he'd be all like "Brutus leviticus has died, i should go see Has-no-lung about this." or something like that.
Bought Oblivion GotY Deluxe for $5. I feel as if I should play it, and I really want to finish it but..
I'm just getting to Kvatch and the Oblivion Gate and I think this game is going to be very painful to finish. The movement and combat feels rigid and clunky, I can't tell how much damage I'm doing to enemies because there's no HP bar for them, the graphics are laughable even with visual mods, as is the voice acting, and the interface, especially when selling items, is atrocious. Could they have made it any more time consuming to shop? Click the item to sell, mouse over to okay. Why not have okay where your mouse is, over jump the mouse over to that menu?
I guess at the time this game was phenomenal, but how can anyone recommend it now?

I might port my movement mod to Oblivion
But first I need several months of procrastination time

But there is? it's a little line above your crosshair when you mouseover an enemy.
Alterntively set bHealthBarShowing to 1 in the oblivon ini for real health bars, but they're ugly as fuck.
[editline]10th August 2013[/editline]
You guys really take some things for granted, both Morrowind and Oblivion have aged quite poorly but compare other games from around the same time, like the Gothic RPGs, Gothic 3 came out around the same time as Oblivion, and it looks and plays far worse.

I missed the Oblivion train by a longshot and I've been spoiled with Skyrim I guess. It'd be like going back and playing Arena after playing Oblivion or Morrowind, I guess.

Thanks for the heads up on the health bars though

I fucking loved Oblivion, but I feel the same as you do about it now.
I'd recommend it, but with a footnote of "I hasn't aged all that well"
Please don't start this discussion again. Every game is great in their own ways and all of them have flaws, judging some being better than others is just based on opinions.
I was talking about the discussion of which Elder Scrolls game was "best".
It usually ends with a shitstorm.

Daggerfall is the best dungeon crawler, Morrowind has the best story and world design, Skyrim has the best combat/gameplay(though still flawed).
Someone help me think of what Arena and Oblivion were best at.
Chosen one bullshit.
But Morrowind's chosen one status gave you no special powers besides being able to wear a ring, and it's implied you might not actually be the chosen one anyway.
And being the chosen one is not inherently a bad storyline, Morrowind handles it very well by being vague.

Arena was best at setting the bar high for future RPGs.
I'll get back to you on Oblivion.
but it has the best quests and story hands down
Dark Brotherhood quest.
Never forget.
Chosen one bullshit.
Funny because that's exactly what every NPC says about you for 90% of MW's main quest.
When you beat it part of the joy is serving everyone a platter of their own shit.
Chosen one bullshit.
It's far and away from the obliviously tropic implementations we see in the rest of the series - to the point that I'd more accurately you're merely an accessory for an authority of ambivalent alignment. Oblivion has you work in the name of Imperial authority, but doesn't question it; while Skyrim has allows you to dart in and out of any entanglement while doing What Must Be Done (save for "dragon that has recently swept in must be pushed back") - bland fare.
Chosen one bullshit in Morrowind has nothing on the Chosen one bullshit in Skyrim. You're practically god and savior of every freaking thing in the game. Make me Dragonborn, fine..but don't make me the chosen one for every other quest line in the game too!
