But it does mean you can't shaft Morrowind for something and let Skyrim get away with doing the same thing worse.
Just because Skyrim had it worse, it doesn't mean Morrowind gets away with it.
In Morrowind you're a hero who was prophesied, this however doesn't give you any sort of special powers, you just happened to sort of fit the legend and may or may not actually even be the right hero, you become the hero by your own actions, skyrim you're handed magic powers and are ACTUALLY THE ONLY GUY WHO CAN SAVE THE WORLD .

That doesn't change the fact that Morrowind pulls the same shit.
I could never really get into Morrowind anyway, it felt way too goddamn lifeless.
I know Skyrim had it worse, I already said it. But I also said that I'm not letting Morrowind get away with the same boring plot element just because it used it better. And I have no idea why do you keep talking about Dragonborn's powers; Nerevarine is still a prophesied chosen one and just because he doesn't command a force such as the Voice, it doesn't make him less of a chosen one.
Oblivion makes you a true hero. End of story.
You don't have any special powers in Oblivion though.
You just have balls of steel and run into Oblivion gates and steal the sigil.
I actually like Daggerfall's plot a lot. It's more politically motivated, doesn't involve you being predestined to save people or any shit like that, and you have the choice of several different factions to give the item you are looking for to, making it completely your choice and these factions aren't necessarily good or bad.

I've already explained why Morrowind's is different, do you not remember the part where [sp]you run into the ghosts of people who tried to be the Nerevarine, who fit the prophecy just as much as you did, but who failed[/sp]
You're NOT special in Morrowind unless you the player chooses to believe that, in the end it's vague as shit.
Morrowind is almost deconstruction of this plot, you can even tell the final boss "I'm not the Nerevarine, but that doesn't matter at this point."
Just because Skyrim had it worse, it doesn't mean Morrowind gets away with it.
Uh, yes it does, because it's done properly in Morrowind.
no matter how hard you guys try you cant stop the comparison argument
the words "skyrim" and "morrowind" cant be in the same sentence without starting a shitstorm
Nerevarine is still a prophesied chosen one and just because he doesn't command a force such as the Voice, it doesn't make him less of a chosen one.
Did you actually play it or were you just not paying attention?
[sp]Nibani Maesa literally tells you you're not the Nerevarine, but may become it. Just like the rest of the failed, dead-as-dick incarnates.[/sp]

Skyrim and Morrowind are in the same universe.
Speaking of which, I've been trying to get into morrowind. Maybe it's just because I didn't play it when it came out something, but the game just feels kinda lifeless. The way all the NPCs speak and act just seems really fake and ridged, the world has a neat design like everyone says but it still manages to feel.... "empty", to me. Everyone praises the NPC dialogue and whatnot in it, but so far it has just been more or less different faces saying a lot of the same stuff, the NPCs that aren't quest related seem to have no real uniqueness to them, I guess.
I don't know if it just hasn't aged well, or if I'm just ~~~~disgusting casual gamer dumbed down filth~~~~~, but I definitely enjoyed the first hours of Oblivion and Skyrim a lot more. Morrowind just feels a lot less immersive to me, I don't know. It's just so easy to see past the characters and whatnot and view it and see the "game" in it, if that makes any sense. I mean it's still fun, but not as much fun as I had with my first dive into Skyrim, and no where near as much fun as I had as my first run through of Oblivion. I'm sure that's going to get a bunch of people here fuming mad, but it's just my opinion.
Oh god I thought i was just adding a few lines and this happens ffff
Skyrim and Morrowind are in the same universe.
Say that to my face fucker and not in the TES thread, see what happens!!!
so uh to take a break from the ongoing shitstorm
enhanced mighty dragens replaces vanilla dragens with named ones, so what if i kill all of them, then what? will they respawn or wat
they die when you kill them
They die when you kill them.
So you can actually save the world?

Morrowind really hasn't aged well, but I suggest the less generic npcs project, those mods really flesh out the non quest characters to be people worth speaking to.
I think it's really more that it just takes longer to know and feel comfortable with. It's sort of the opposite of Skyrim in that Morrowind's golden parts are caked in a layer of shit (aging) whereas Skyrim gets less and less enjoyable once you've seen the all the base content start to replicate itself over and over again. The gold slowly turns to shit? idk

this is why i think the Oblivion protagonist was the best protagonist imho, dude was just some completely mortal bystander who closed a fuckin hellmouth just because it was in his way. he's pretty much like one of those random mundane workers from Dwarf Fortress who just happens to do the most awesome shit just from a mixture of complete coincidence and bizarre AI quirks, then goes on to be the most badass dude on the planet afterwards.
also dude's totally Sheogorath now so Dragonborn and Nerevarine can just go suck it
I've wondered that dragons are kind of immortal except when the Dragonborn kills them because he absorbs their souls too. What happens to those souls when the said Dragonborn dies? Do they just ~fly away~ or go into Sovngarde along with him as part of him or something?

You are awesome. You get exactly why Morrowind's plot is fantastic. Especially when you consider that essentially you were a Blades ploy to try and fake the Nerevarine to restore peace to Morrowind, which may or may not actually have worked.
Especially when you throw in all the potential uncertainty about Nerevar's past which means that you might, objectively, be working for the bad guys and killing a good guy who resorted to nefarious methods to challenge the real villains of the piece. Or maybe not. It depends who's word you want to trust.

The dragonborn goes to whatever plane of oblivion/Sovengarde/places people go where they die and meet every single dragon he's ever killed.
It's like an afterlife where you get spawnkilled forever.

I thought I might end up feeling the same way when I bought Morrowind, so I downloaded the Morrowind Overhaul before I did anything with the game. Sometimes I wonder if I should have at least tried vanilla first just to get a perspective, but on the other hand, I can say I've been having more fun with Morrowind than I did with Skyrim as a result.
In skyrim you're the chosen one for the main quest, college of winterhold, dark brotherhood, thieves guild, companions (you've gotta read a diary to figure this one out) and probably in some minor quests too.
Best quests: oblivion
Best story: morrowind
Most indepth character creation: daggerfall
Combat: skyrim.
I think the biggest pain is that bethesda look at the game on a whole to say that it's good. I mean Arena, daggerfall, morrowind, oblivion, skyrim... You could say that they're good games. But you can't look at individual parts of the games and say that they're great. The swordplay isn't great. The magic system isn't great. Alchemy isn't great.Dialogue isn't great. Acrobatics isn't great. The sound isn't great. the ai is fucking stupid... So on and so forth. If bethesda could put their money towards fixing these rather than celebrity voice actors and stupid stories then we'd not have reason to complain

Actually, seeing how Sovngarde is pretty much a blatant ripoff of Valhalla of Norse mythology, that would be what happens, except since he'd have so much power even in afterlife he'd just be fighting them forever without ever getting tired or exhausted.
Valhalla sounds a bit boring after a while; all you do is drink mead and fight Jötunn.

A lot things in Skyrim are ripped of off Norse Mythology.
Same thing in the Tolkien Universe.
I thought Skyrim acknowledged that more or less
you know, considering the people are called nords after all. I don't think it was copied for lack of creativity, but as more of an "affectionate recreation" I suppose. It's a really neat setting, and it fits the culture, no reason to avoid using it.
It's not that interesting, though. I mean the most cool things vikings did was raiding Britain a couple of times, and that isn't even featured in the game.
Don't base Nordic mythology solely on vikings :v:
I'm thinking about reinstalling Oblivion right now, any mod recommendations?

Get the mods that fix faces.

So we are going to live normal lives in Scandinavia?
That explains why there are so many wolves in Skyrim! :v:

If we want to talk about what-ifs lore, your character doesn't necessarily defeat alduin, someone after him might discover to be dragonborn and defeat alduin instead
For all you know Nazeem is a dragonborn, he just never happened to walk by a dead dragon because he's in the cloud district with his thumb up his ass all day
