All the human characters look pretty similar though.I think there's an overlap in appearances between breton, imperial and nord. Since they don't have distinct voices i often don't realy notice the race of a human. Plus, there's not realy a huge population. It'd be nice to have crowds of people as large as say.. assassins creed. You'd probably notice the race percentages more then. Dunmer are cool as fuck though, even though many of them are total pricks. Nords are just thick. It's not fair to compare them.
What's the story on bretons really? and are Imperials really an ethnicity or a cultural group?
Wait! WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA!!! bethesda cut down on NPCs? What the everloving christ!? There are like NO npcs in the newer games.
Each NPC in Oblivion and Skyrim is more work. They all have schedules and such.
What's the story on bretons really? and are Imperials really an ethnicity or a cultural group?
The bretons are a result of the nedic peoples(ancestors of all of the 'human' races) breeding with the elves. The imperials are their own ethnicity
Wait! WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA!!! bethesda cut down on NPCs? What the everloving christ!? There are like NO npcs in the newer games.
Well, when you go from loads of NPCs that spew out cookie-cutter text dialogue to NPCs that are voiced, you can see where Beth decided that they needed to use less NPCs
What's the story on bretons really? and are Imperials really an ethnicity or a cultural group?
http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Breton Essentially, they are Aldmeri (What is now, as of Skyrim, the High Elves) and Nedes (proto-Nords, what we would see as Draugr in Skyrim) mixed to be menmer. Imperials are a completely separate ethnicity from other men (Redgaurds, Nords, you get the idea). Think the difference between Scandinavians and Italic Europeans for a real-world idea.
Bretons are supposed to be related to elves a little. They're supposed to have slightly pointed ears and slightly elven brows when they're closely inspected... But none of the games have realy done this. Actualy i'm pretty sure Bretons have the roundest faces out of all the races. Nords are supposed to be super manly. Even the women are supposed to be manly. Also a lot of them should have silver hair. But realy, they should look more manly. Maybe more brutish faces would do them well. Moustaches are a must for both genders. Imperials have gotten softer due to living in a land of unmanliness. Unless of course we're thinking that cyrodil should actualy be a jungle again... in which case they could still be manly. But imperials are supposed to be the neutral characters. The guys in the middle who've always had other guys melt in their pot of culture and ethnicity. Redguards should probably be less manly than the nords. Which should make their women about as manly as a gorrilla who's in danger of sweating pure testosterone . Well, they probably have a lot of variation in their manliness. You've got some who dry up in a desert every day and others who smash through storms. But you've got those beautiful people too and a bunch of feminine sword styles along with the masculine ones (redguards are supposed to have a billion sword stances or something like that)
This doesn't bother me as much since in Morrowind it was even worse. Is there any mods that show, next to enemy health or something, the current target's magicka?
Is there any mods that show, next to enemy health or something, the current target's magicka?
Do they even have magicka? I honestly have never experienced an enemy running out of magicka, even when theyre novice level. They just keep fucking firing lightning or fire or ice spikes at my face.

I'm sure though Beth adjusted some kind of hard-coded game setting though that makes it so when NPC's cast spells it doesn't really do anything for them. Like, maybe they realized their AI was shit so instead of making it so the NPC knew what to do when low on magicka or how to play they just made it so NPC's cast spells with very low magicka drain. I'd love to see a test of someone casting a drain magicka or lightning on an NPC spell caster to see if it actually works at stopping them from casting spells. Same for powerattacks and stamina.

[editline]13th August 2013[/editline]
Is there any mods that show, next to enemy health or something, the current target's magicka?
Well, there's this for Oblivion: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40940//? Not sure about Skyrim though.
oh dear [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] that scared me.
That's how I beat a really tough Vampire. Drained his magicka with a staff and forced him to go melee, which I could in turn block.
So I saw a video showing how a guy can shoot 3 arrows in less than 2 seconds and I can't get this thought out of my head: You know how the Bosmer's shtick is (alongside the whole "one with nature" thing) is being good at archery? Well, if Bethesda does make a sequel to Skyrim that takes place in the Aldmeri Dominion, it'd be cool if you could learn some sort of ancient Bosmer master archery which would allow you to switch between several archery styles. So you'd start out the game with your slow, crappy normal archery with nothing special aside from the bash attack and then it could be implemented by either going to isolated villages and learning from the stereotypical wise elders or maybe something like the Oblivion Mage's Guild quests BUT WITH ARCHERY where you have go around the map doing completely asinine tasks just to get to the good stuff. The techniques you could swap between could be something like this: Focused Archery: Slow Motion Archery. You focus your mind entirely on the target. (Basically works exactly like Skyrim's archery with the Slow Time perk) (Close-)Combat Archery: Rapid Fire Archery. You grab several arrows from your quiver and repeatedly use one quick motion to fire them at breath taking speed. By pressing RMB/LT while not firing you will now block instead of bash, allowing you receive attacks and then respond with devastating attacks of your own. Pressing LMB/RT while blocking will cause your character to bash. Precision Archery: Assassination/Debuff Archery. You gather the might and precision of the bow into a single, devastating shot. Hitting a target's legs will slow them down, hitting their arms will lower their attack (defense will be lowered if the struck arm is holding a shield). Hitting the head will obviously do massive damage and combined with the sneak multiplier will often result in a kill. RMB while drawing the arrow allows you to massively zoom in (Maybe also once the arrow is fully drawn zooming will show a trajectory of where the arrow will fly, might be a bit gamebreaking though) This technique has a long draw for the arrow. The further back you draw the arrow, you will deliver more damage and deliver a larger debuff. (Think of this as the kamekameha of archery techniques.) Ooh, just got another idea. Like in Skyrim how slowing down time while aiming drained your Stamina, this could be expanded to the other techniques. So if you get attacked while out of stamina your exhausted ass is stuck with crappy normal archery unless you chug some potions.
I wish they could go for Witcher Style Potions where you have to drink them before a battle and would give small buffs but would last for hours.
I always here so much talk about witcher, and while making a preorder at gamestop I saw Witcher 2 for 30$, do you guys think it's worth it?
I always here so much talk about witcher, and while making a preorder at gamestop I saw Witcher 2 for 30$, do you guys think it's worth it?
This is going off-topic, so I will make this brief. The Witcher 2 is a fantastic game, and is worth it at any price, however, Steam has had in insanely cheap before, so if you don't mind waiting for the next time it goes on sale, then do so. On an on-topic note. I downloaded the ENBoost to give it a try. For some reason, despite being able to play Crysis 3 on ultra at 1920x1080, Skyrim hesitates, and can take a while to load (loading the save, moving to a new area, etc). It will freeze at random times while playing, but the sound continues as if it is working fine. I can be talking to an npc, and it will freeze. Nobody will be moving, but the npc will carry on his dialogue.
Finished my light armor perk tree/skill :D All that's left is archery skill/tree and the first version of my mod will be complete after I figure out how the hell I implement the installation/uninstallation/etc functionality of the mod. Perk highlights: 1. Focused Stride: Spriting while holding "activate" (default E) while not wearing heavy armor slows time slightly around you at the cost of burning much more stamina. 2. Dodge: Tapping the "activate" key during an enemy's attack causes time to slow down for a brief second, allowing you to dodge at the cost of stamina. You must be wearing no heavy armor. 3. Traveller: having your weapons/magic away while outside of combat gives you a speed boost when wearing a light armor cuirass. 4. Acrobat: Increased jump height while not wearing a heavy armor cuirass. 5. Sanctuary: 50% increased health regen when at full stamina, or 30% increased stamina regeneration when at full health while wearing a full suit of light armor. 6. Reinforced Links: 25% reduced damage against arrows when wearing a light armor cuirass. 7. Swift Foot: Worn light armor has double the armor rating when you are sprinting. Total of 18 perks for light armor, not counting tiers that some of the perks (like Acrobat) have. Light armor works much like it does in default skyrim with two main differences: 1. Certain armor types will slow you down more. Hide has virtually no slowdown, forsworn is the same as being naked in speed, while glass is going to be much slower. The higher your skill, the faster you move, which can counter-act the slowdown that you get when wearing higher level armors. That said, the speed at which you are slowed is noticeable but not debilitating. 2. A chance of losing your balance. This chance is determined by the level and health and skill of the enemy you are fighting, multiplied by the balance level of the armor you are wearing (more advanced/better armors have worse balance, not wearing any light armor gives you a big balance bonus), compared against your skill in lightarmor and your current stamina levels. Enemies have a lot of HP and a high level are likely to cause to you lose your balance on each hit, unless you wear an armor that is better for balance (such as hide), you whittle down their health, or you have a high skill in light armor. Losing balance is simply a temporary screen effect, a light screen-shake style stagger, and your movement speed is significantly decreased during very brief the off-balance effect.
Mystic Knight animations look alright but those fancy sword-sheathing animations would start to look weird when every bandit in Skyrim is doing them.
Sorry for being late but do you think there's a way of adding animations to a player only? Some sort of script?
There was a mod for Oblivion where The Player/Companions animations were seperate from NPC ones.
Well if we get ancient Bosmer archery in a game I would want to see the crazy redguard swordsman that hit shit in a way that causes it to undergo nuclear fission. Yes that is canonical by the way (It's how they destroyed their homeland)
Sorry for being late but do you think there's a way of adding animations to a player only? Some sort of script?
FNIS can add player-exclusive animation paths.
Hey, could you guys reccomand me some mods for skyrim thats lore friendly and adds nice extra gameplay features to the game? Things that you guys cant play without after having being playing with them. Also some roleplay elements mods thats good and stable, like hunger, sleep etc. Also if you now about any mods that makes the game have more armors that the npc's will wear aswell, not just a chest with a new armor that only i can use. not only armors btw, weapons that will get out to the npc's aswell. i have modded my game before, but im really bad at finding the good mods.. So i often just download and install all i find, and it becomes something not really lorefriendly that has a lot of useless crappy mods..
If you can hang on 'til morning I'll send you a screenshot of mine. Mine's heavily catered for immersion/realism/armours

Make sure after every few mods you activate, you test run the game to make sure you didn't fuck anything up. CTD's are the most frustrating things if you don't know what's causing them. Also, make sure you read every page on the Nexus for mod compatibilities and incompatibilities. #5: Check out Skyrim GEMS, but be very selective and test everything you download. Unlike STEP, the mods are not posted there with compatibility in mind. It's simply a general (but categorized) list of the best Skyrim enhancements. #5: Go to the top files on Skyrim Nexus. There's cool shit on there that you might not find on GEMS or STEP. #6: If your computer can handle it, get ENBmod. There are tutorials all over the place for installing it. I recommend Realvision. Now, I can't imagine ever not using it. It just looks so good in comparison to non-ENB Skyrim. So good. I don't fuck with the specific settings like some people do, though--I'm too worried my OCD will kick in and it'll become my life. No, find a good pre-set and stick with it. #7: Try not to use the Steam Workshop. #8: Before starting a legitimate character, make a test character to go through the world and do all kinds of stuff that you'd normally do in Skyrim. This way, if you get CTDs, you can do your best to locate the problem and get rid of it before you actually start playing. Not only is it frustrating to get CTDs when you're just trying to have a good time, but if you find the mod that's fucking you over and remove it, there's a possibility that your save will still be screwed. So explore Skyrim, fight things, do whatever, have fun with it for about 3 hours. If you run into no CTDs, you're good. #9: When downloading mods, re-sort your plugins every once in a while. #10: Enjoy! Eventually I'll have a list of all my 200+ mods that seem to all work together smoothly with my computer.
I'd say that each skill should develop in more than one ways depending on what you'd use. Like how a katana is very different from a Rapier despite the both of them being swords. Some of these subskills would strength others. Stuff like seperating Illusion into character specific (charm, fear, paralyse) and universal (invisibility, decoys, mist, noise) or having a lightly armoured group concern both 'hard' light armour (elven, glass) soft lightly armoured (leather, fur)and unarmoured characters (heavy would take medium armour under it's wing) A player wouldn't need to know about the intricacies of each skill until they're past novice/adept. Not only would this avoid overwhelming a player with information.. it's also realistic. slow motion's a pain in the ass if it's obvious. I'd love a subtle 5%-20% slow down in order to assist the player a little where his skill is needed alongside his character's... but anything higher is bad if it's happening often. An autoaim towards vital spots would be best for archers.
#3: Get Nexus Mod Manager
No no no, don't use NMM. Use Wrye Bash or Mod Organizer. They take a bit more learning, but they are much more powerful, and better equipped for modding. And if you're using STEP, you definitely shouldn't be using NMM, considering how much they discourage you from using it all the time. Wrye Bash is required for STEP anyway, due to a part of the Bashed Patch being needed.

I'm not sure I'd be the best one to explain it though, really. However, there is a STEP guide to it, which I think covers most, if not all of what you need to know.
