But an Elder Scrolls game isn't an Elder Scrolls game without spam click combat!
Daggerfall/Arena has you hold RMB and swing.
But an Elder Scrolls game isn't an Elder Scrolls game without spam click combat!
What about daggerfall and arena?
You can play using Daggerfall's click + drag mouse to swing using MGE XE fyi [editline]18th September 2013[/editline] aka fucking nightmare mode
Dude in Skyrim they added a whole other mouse button.
That doesn't change the fact that you are still hammering in your mouse button. [editline]18th September 2013[/editline]
What about daggerfall and arena?
Daggerfall and Arena are an exception. I was just making fun of how the last three games have all had spam click combat.
That doesn't change the fact that you are still hammering in your mouse button.
It's better than Morrowind's click & stare at the health bars
in morrowind's defense you only had that problem for like the first few hours of the games granted you were using the right skills and weapons for said skills. an example is the fighters guild stuff: if your character starts with 30something shortsword skill and you use that as your main specialization, after the first couple of easy quests of killing a rat and a putzy group of people and some of those worms you got like three levels towards shortsword. long story short you suck asshole at first but you get really skilled really quick and so once you start getting to the really difficult stuff you are already trained and good to go
ok but its still clicking repeatedly
Same thing with Skyrim.
Same thing with Skyrim.
Same thing with GTA4
Same thing with GTA4
there is a very obvious difference between the actual dexterity required for a shooter such as GTA4 or Counter Strike, and the repeated button mashing of the entire TES series anyone who says skyrim combat is good is delusional just because its better than its predecessors, doesnt mean its good
Same thing with GTA4
Same thing with a lot of things, its just that some things do things better than others.
Same thing with a lot of things, its just that some things do things better than others.
Yeah I was mostly just being an ass :v:
That doesn't change the fact that you are still hammering in your mouse button.
Perhaps it's time to raise the difficulty above novice :v:
So I enter a quest...it lead me to a dungeon and I clear most of it with ease except for the end where a boss 1 shot me with an ice attack. I am doing something wrong or what?
ok but its still clicking repeatedly
Skyrim continued the tradition of linear damage effects. As tedious as MW's combat can be in the early game, the unique weapon styles, different types of attacks, and different damage ranges, and a much better armor calculation formula makes for a combat experience that is sadly more tuned and complex than skyrims.
So I enter a quest...it lead me to a dungeon and I clear most of it with ease except for the end where a boss 1 shot me with an ice attack. I am doing something wrong or what?
Nah that sounds about like Skyrim balancing.

It's the skyrim food chain When fighting mages, try to get up close then just continually shield bash and power strike them so they can't get any spells off. Ignore an other enemies in the room and kill the mage.

Now I just run away and lure the idiot ai into choke points and turns where i can overwhelm them.

However, there is a major problem with the difficulty of MW. Once you level up and start reaching level 10 or higher, a lot of enemies are too weak and the combat becomes a choir, killing off creatures like cliff racers becomes a mandatory, non dangerous and boring experience. In Skyrim the combat is less extensive but the difficulty is somewhat better. Besides the easy bandits and wolfs, there is the occasional bear that wrecks you at low levels. Then there's the mages, frost trolls, dragon priests and ancient dragons messing you up, even at higher levels. That's why I prefer Skyrim combat.
I've noticed that one of my spell mods to Skyrim that adds a fortify speed spell don't have a limit on how many times you can cast it on yourself, so now walking slowly while being over encumbered is a problem of the past. At the moment I become 70% faster with it.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/9dWjGdg.jpg[/t]
I got a paper cut just from looking at that.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/9dWjGdg.jpg[/t] Silly looking and badass at the same time. Use printscreen and it'll crap an uncompressed bmp into your Skyrim directory.
Does your HUD work with skyui?
Indeed it does. I use Immersive Hud, Less Intrusive HUD II and SkyUI.
MW even goes as far as to include weapon weight as a factor in damage and stamina cost. Each weapon type has different slash, stab, and chop damage values too. Was pretty in-depth now that I think back on it.
Except the only difference in slash/stab/chop is damage, so you just use whatever one has the highest damage.

Was pretty in-depth now that I think back on it.
I should think about bringing some of this back to skyrim eventually with my mod. Would require a lot of thought and tweaking but should be possible on some level. The hard part would be getting it to work with mods, and getting it so the player can easily see different damage/weight/stamina/etc values.
A lot of the "combat is boring" problems could probably be fixed by simple stuff. - blocking at the right time rather than just holding the button down. - a sidestep and side leap. At that point it's three times more interesting than it is in skyrim. It's kinda stupid that this WASN'T added sooner because they're such simple mechanics -locational damage - Small throwing weapons and *easy magic useable in one hand without getting rid of your ability to block with a weapon. (magic considered "easy" depending on your skill) - charging magic becomes necessary but the player can undercharge it or overcharge it. Also this mechanic could also work for small throwing weapons. You might throw one throwing star at once or you might throw five at once. - Jump hieght dictated by how you press the button. Holding it down will give you a great leap. Tapping it will give you a small jump and dodge most attacks towards the legs. ...and now it's ten times more interesting. Might i add that none of these should be a terrible effort for a company with such large resources. - Enemies with interesting abilities like a charge, a leap, a grab, blink, Multi summon, Floating, flying like a bird, wallwalking, stealing power from a comrade etc. That kinda stuff is difficult, but worthwhile so long as everything's play-tested and tuned.
