Any non-major game change but less frustration mods I should grab before starting skyrim?
Any non-major game change but less frustration mods I should grab before starting skyrim?
There are some mods floating around that greatly improve how menus are handled, preventing unwanted dialogue choices, making choice boxes easier to navigate and revamping the inventory entirely. See SkyUI, Better messagebox control and Better Dialogue Control Look around for other similar mods, the ones that change ore veins to be unlimited but take more hit to be mined/allow to wait while mining are great.
Downloaded this mod for Unarmed Combat skill tree and weapons. Any of you guys know if it's any good?
I spent my entire day yesterday going through the STEP guide and also downloading extra mods on top of it. I still have a few more things to go and then I got to make sure it even runs and then if it runs it doesn't have framerate and memory issues. I have a huge feeling I'll just end up reinstalling from the game imploding on itself.
Guys I need help, Todd's at it again. I'm up to the bit were you have to lead Saadia out to the Whiterun stables, but when she says 'lets go' she just stands there. I've waited, reset her and the AI with no success. It also happens with the Bards College when that guy wants to present Olafs verse to the court. He also doesn't make his way over. Any help?
Damn I feel like a broken record because I have said this at least three other times in this thread. Install a few mods and then run Skyrim to see if it works properly, it takes 30 seconds to do and you won't be royally fucked if it doesn't work because you only have a few mods to shift through to find the problem. If Skyrim runs ok with those mods installed, install a few more and repeat the process until theyre all in.

Little by little adding a mod and launching to see if it works. It still won't change the fact that once get into the triple digits of mods installed it's hard to maintain stability. Somehow I've been able to make the game run without even having to TES5Edit clean my mods yet. It's simply figuring out where my memory begins to get exhausted and I get issues with playability. [editline]26th November 2013[/editline]
I hope you used Mod Organizer.
Sure as hell have been this entire time. I need to use BOSS and get the load order down and then TES5Edit clean everything excluding things meant to have dirty edits (Falskaar and GDO). Then going to knock my settings down to medium and see what happens. Currently wondering if I want to skip out on Expanded Towns and Cities or not.

The way you worded it made it seem like you just threw a bunch of mods in, how am I supposed to know you did that? Also TES crashes a lot because of memory allocation, you could have a shitton of extra memory and it would still crash. Luckily there was a mod recently released that fixes this memory issue and gives a lot more stability, but I forgot the name of it.

I learned my lesson with tossing in mods and booting the game up around the first time I was doing stuff with Skyrim (and Oblivion at the time cause I reinstalled it). But I'm always suspicious of 'Skyrim Sorcery' which dictates that no matter how careful you are and how stabilized you think you've got it..Skyrim will still manage to make your game explode at some point. Especially with piles of mods. Also I feel like I installed that mod but I can't remember the name either. Was it Safety Load?

So the guy that made Faalskar got hired at by bungie It really is kind of inspiring me to keep at my mod. I've felt little drive to work on it thanks to school completely destroying all my time and a desire to actually work on "real" indie games but theres still a part of me that wishes to put my design out and really fix it up. It's been very helpful playing with it so far, keep running into some standout bugs that I have no idea why they happen (i.e. occasionally my crossbow reloads VERY VERY slowly, likely a bug with my scripting and the GearedUp ini command to show all my weapons), that I'm gonna need to look into. I also really need to look in the overall design aspects of my mod.
I've felt little drive to work on it thanks to school completely destroying all my time and a desire to actually work on "real" indie games
I've been getting the same crap Barely been able to touch my mod for the past few months beyond getting the glass and ebony armor done. Though that's more a matter of time constraints I guess, shouldn't spend 7 hours making a set of armor when I have modelling homework to do
Did a 35-40 minute session. The game didn't crash but I did get the massive fps issues I'd expected to get, even on medium. For certain SKSE plugins like Safety Load or OneTweak do I need to load those in through MO? Also, are you able to use Wyre Bash within MO? I've heard to use one or the other but I wasn't sure if I could setup a Bashed Patch within MO.

I shouldn't be so worried of a console game locking up. The people who did the PS3 port of Skyrim should be punished. I shouldn't have to turn off autosave to get the game to work properly.
Seems like a bit of luck, or maybe because he showed he had a lot of drive. Wasn't Falskaar mostly terrible?
I just remember one of the gripes was it was a flat and semi-barren Skyrim.
Seems like a bit of luck, or maybe because he showed he had a lot of drive. Wasn't Falskaar mostly terrible?
It wasn't terrible but it wasn't amazing. It just had a shit load of work put into it, and the dude who made it was always going on about on the beth forums how he wants to work at Bethesda, so I imagined he did nothing but work on Faalskar a crap ton and apply to a ton of places for all of 1-2 years. [editline]27th November 2013[/editline] Really that's what matters most when getting hired to a dev studio, is if you have some sort of drive they can notice. They like that, and at the very least will put you on an apprentice or minor role till you get the skills to have a bigger contribution to a project. I'm pretty sure the guy wasn't even in college considering I think he was only 19-20 years old or so.
So I have a clean install of Skyrim. Auto-detect puts me at High quality. I have all the DLC, but haven't actually played any of them. What mods do you guys recommend?
So I have a clean install of Skyrim. Auto-detect puts me at High quality. I have all the DLC, but haven't actually played any of them. What mods do you guys recommend?
Unofficial Patches, When Vampires Attack, Run For Your Lives, SkyUI, Wet and Cold, BorderSense, Midas Magic, Midas Magic Evolved, and any other mods you would want. Some more mods that are more luxuries are Undeath and Dwarven Luggage. Undeath lets you be come a Lich and Dwarven Luggage is an bottomless chest on legs that follows you around. Again, not necessary, but you might like them.

Got everything suggested so far except Midas (also estrus wtf). Does Midas also effect NPCs or just the player? I'm not huge on magic. As a matter of fact, are there any combat specific mods y'all recommend? Animations, overhauls etc?

Makes the combat a little more enjoyable.
Appreciate the suggestions, about to boot up the game and have a go.
I don't remember if I posted this, but it is a proper, fully working, Full Body Awareness mod for Oblivion. If you don't like how the default arms look, the newest version includes an ini that can be edited, so you can use the third person body+arms Requires OBSE
so, after playing skyrim for the umpeenth time vanilla, I let my best friend talk me into modding up my skyrim to the nines and creating an abomination. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/486683343444960472/A58044D0259E3B9295A39F40CFE1A83A31C3C1EE/[/t] I could get into this.
Are there any good armor or clothing mods that add good looking clothing or hats? I'm reinstalling skyrim and I want to play as basically Errol Flynn. [editline]27th November 2013[/editline] I already found the perfect mod for the sword: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33639/?
I just found out today that Serana has the same voice actor as rayne from blood rayne, the transexual from nier, the ego from defiance, and akali from league of legends :v: [sp]vampire waifu confirmed for following me into other games[/sp]
She's also Female Voice 1 in Saints Row The Third (and I think she made a return in SRIV but I don't own that one), one of the widely used VAs in Fallout NV, and a buttload of other games. Laura Bailey. I'm a bit of a fan of her, actually.

I have SR3 actually I just didn't have any female characters so I never noticed :v:
But alas, despite all my efforts I got everything working except framerate and loading issues I received from all the textures mods I got through STEP. I'm not sure if I can remove all the texture mods and keep everything else. If not, I have been defeated, and it will be time for a clean reinstall and this time just gunning for one or two texture mods and then keeping the rest to fixes, convenience, and gameplay.
Having used NMM last time I played skyrim, what is Mod Organiser like?
