The Elder Scrolls Megathread XV: A Song of Ice and Draugr

It's funny now that I've started watching Game of Thrones how much beth blantently ripped off the series for their game. The reach, winterfell, riverrun, etc. Some of the names between places are identical while other names, locations, characters and general plot threads that beth use in Skyrim follow an obvious inspiration from GoT, almost borderline copy (except obviously GoT executes it much better).
It's just uncanny how much the two have in common to the point that it makes Skyrim feel more like it is apart of the GoT universe rather than the elder scrolls one
Skyrim came before Games of Thrones tv series.

I don't think you understand how long Skyrim has been in development.

Sure. But GoT was still released first.
The original books came out in the late 90s though, mind you.

do you know how long it takes to change ANYTHING in the middle of production
do you know how much of a fuck up it can cause.

Realistic Lighting Overhaul was in development for about a year. Enhanced Lighting and FX was released first.
That doesn't mean we stole that idea from ELFX.
-snip-
A Game of Thrones came out in 1996, but Arena came out in 1994, and that established the place names and geography (or at least the city names) of Skyrim.
But Whiterun totally looks like a poor man's recreation of Edoras from the LOTR movies.
Iron swords came out over two thousand years ago, they could have been more imaginative with their weapon selection

all i'm saying is, why are we even having this debate

I guess that's true. Did arena though use terms like "The Reach" and "The Vale" and etc though? I thought they only had major cities like Whiterun

Markarth still reminds me a great deal of Helms Deep. It even has that little runoff drain to the left of the main gate.

Lol are you kidding
There's a difference between a common, real world object where its name is literally just a descriptor versus two pieces of fiction that take place in two completely different universes but oddly seem to share almost the exact same things.
Sure it's not a big deal though. It's just odd, and seems a little more blatant than simply being inspired by. As if Skyrim is just a direct college of two or three fictional universes instead of a fictional universe with it's own identity (lets compare that to Morrowind, which did feel like it's own fictional universe with it's own sense of identity despite still having tolkien tropes involved in the inspiration).
Is there a mod that makes followers attack your enemies even if the enemy doesn't attack you/followers?
I'm using UFO and it seems to make the follower AI only aggressive if they are being attacked...
When you talk to the old guy in a basement during the Thieves Guild quest, a subtitle will read "undertstand"
I had an image of it a while ago. (Lost to the annals of time now)
Skyrim was mostly inspired by the movie Beowulf just like Oblivion was by the Lord of the Rings and Bethesda has acknowledged it.
And the entire series was made up during a game of DnD.

Thumb that matey.
Also, should I scream 1000 years dungeon?

No way, I thought GoT came out in 2013 the way that everyone suddenly started raving about it. Did they only start showing them on TV recently?

Well, according to flagdog I live in Portugal, we only just got automobiles and everyone still listens to Nickelback.
so throughout my new game I've been encountering this ghost sabre cat in various places but these are the only screenshots I thought to take of it. I only have 2 mods installed, none of which would cause this. I don't have Kyne's Sacred Trials quest from Froki and I haven't even been near the location in which the sabre cat guardian spirit spawns. What the fuck IS this?

i tried to follow it but it walked slowly everywhere and eventually it just stopped so i left it
it did save my ass from a gaggle of asshole skeletons though
What mods do you have installed?
minus the DLC, Unofficial Skyrim Patch and the HD texture packs only Live Another Life and Realistic Lighting and my ENB of course
Sounds like some creepypasta shit.

I hope you mean the goddam 3k lines 9th century epic poem about 4th centyry Denmark, Beowulf. What next? Chris Columbus invented Harry Potter?
The Pantheons of TES are a headache... My Nord lady is all confused, there's the Nine Divines, the Eight Divines, the Nordic aspects of those, and now this All-Maker... What is a "true" Nord to do?
