But what happened to you before Helgen? Why did you cross the border into Skyrim?
The thing is, I wouldn't have gotten caught. They already fuck with my backstory.
Wasn't it a major criticism for Fallout: New Vegas when they had the Lonesome Road DLC force a backstory on you, which made a lot of role-players angry because it clashed with the backstory they made for themselves?
I don't know, until about a week ago I payed no attention to any DLC ever until I heard my friend discussing all the extra stuff that comes in the Skyrim DLCs which had me actually start looking at what comes in things.
The answers to those are all the players choice, though. I'm talking about forcing one, single backstory that leaves no room for flexibility. That would really suck.
So, what makes you think anyone wants a singular backstory forced? What's the issue with picking what happened prior?
Hearthfire makes me sad. There is always a kid in the streets in every hold that has the same story. "My parents died, I'm poor and homeless, I'm selling flowers/food/ect to survive. Can you be my father?" Like, come on. I don't have the time to marry and visit every so often, but I have the money to last more than a lifetime. I wish I could spend my 100,000 gold to buy a homeless shelter in every hold.
Maybe this is a mod opportunity. Dragonborn Orphanage. Build it, staff it, stop by once in a while with a sweetroll for the kids.
It is such bullshit that Dragonborn still costs more than dozens of full games during the sale. Guess i'll wait another year if that's what it takes.
One of these days I'll have $20 on me and the two non-hearthfire DLCs'll be $10 each.
It is such bullshit that Dragonborn still costs more than dozens of full games during the sale. Guess i'll wait another year if that's what it takes.
it costs more than the fucking game damn it
It's good but from a price proportionality standpoint it's over priced, given the sale and all. Skyrims pricing is/was on par with the call of duty titles. They should have done 20 bucks for all dlc sale
Because that ruins all sense of roleplay? What if I am an exile disowned by my parents? What if my parents were murdered and im hunting the group that killed them? There are some questions in the game that ask you about your family and you can answer them, but in the end giving you some kind of background restricts what you can roleplay. Kind of obvious why they didn't do it. Though if they did implement it, maybe have some npc ask you questions and depending on your answer certain events could happen I suppose.
I loved the way Dawnguard did it. When Serana asks you about your parents, you can say anything from "They're great people and I can't wait to see them again" to "They died a long time ago and I can't remember their faces." It doesn't change much, but it feels like a pretty great character-building element.
So, what makes you think anyone wants a singular backstory forced? What's the issue with picking what happened prior?
I'm not having an issue with people making up a backstory, I'm having an issue with people thinking the backstory should be integrated into the game like that one guy who suggested a questline involving visiting your family and doing stuff. Stuff like that should only be kept in the player's mind, or a mod (although it'd be difficult enough to make just because of the amount of races and sexes to pick from, it'd either have to account for all of them (which would be almost impossible) or cater only to one). If said person was suggesting it in mod form, my mistake, that wasn't clarified in the original post, but I don't want to see Bethesda trying to try it themselves in a future game (and yes, I know they did it in Fallout 3, but they only had one race to choose from and it was still extremely limiting). [editline]26th December 2013[/editline]
I loved the way Dawnguard did it. Just a few vague lines of dialogue that really only serve for flavor. Anything more than that can suck for hard-core role-players.
snip A+ premium servers.
I couldn't even access the damned website for the majority of yesterday. I swear, someone needs to clean out the servers from everyone spanking it to the nudity mods. Except I don't think there's a biohazard suit strong enough for that job..

Like you were just placed there to do whatever it is Dragonborns do. The whole crossing the border thing would have been what they wanted everyone else to think. While I'm on it, I just thought of something. If you follow Ralof during Unbound, when he is talking to Gerdur and Hod in Riverwood, he says that they were caught near Darkwater Crossing. But Ralof himself says that you were caught in that Imperial ambush with them when you were crossing the border into Skyrim. I think Bestheda fucked up or Ralof was captured at Darkwater Crossing and brought down to Helgen, picking you up on the way.
Question for you folks. I'm getting a new laptop on the fifth and I want to do a clean install of skyrim given that I botched some manual installs on my current folder. However, I want to keep the current mods that I have without redownloading them all since I have some that aren't available anymore that I really like. I use NMM for everything and want to be able to install/uninstall mods at my leisure. If I really have to, I'll hunt everything down and redownload it all, but I'd prefer not to since I have several massive mods and the nexus has been an utter bitch here lately. Suggestions?
Yes.

That list has grown since. I may provide an updated one when I get my computer back on Thursday.

;43287282']Give me a small walkthrough on which order you installed them in too and if I need to manually merge anything.
Alright, so I've completed my daring escape from the wolf sex dungeon using a plastic spoon and a pair of horse castration tools, to finally make my not-so amazing and highly disturbing: Keep in mind that I don't have any DLCs installed, I didn't even get Dawnguard when everoyone got it through an update. Anyway, with that said, let's begin: Chapter 0: Setup. Here's what i recommend: Install NMM if you haven't already, install Mod Organizer, delete all your mods (you won't need them now, the mods I show you here are much better), reinstall your game outside ProgramFiles, install wrye bash and finally install BOSS. Chapter 1: Normal mods that I would actually recommend. Let's start with the essential mods. There is no reason not to install Unofficial Skyrim Patch! I don't even question what it does. I just install it instantly. I've also heard Brawl bugs patch is important. I don't know why, and I am not even touching the brawls in this game, I just installed it. SKSE and SkyUI are essensial for some mods, especially stuff like SexLab and other loverslab mods. The people over there are regularly using MCM menus, which require SkyUI. If you don't want the SkyUI UI, install SkyUI-Away. If you ask me which overhaul mod is best, I say none of them! They're all crap! Instead, I recommend installing Third Era Attributes along with Character Creation Overhaul. For TEA, I only installed the main file and the races file and for CCO (which I chose to place lower in my mod order), I installed everything but the "Diverse Races And Genders" option. These mods will add RPG systems from earlier games, like attributes and classes. Alternative Start is great. If you want dragons from the start, install Immediate Dragons. I'd also recommend Tales of Lycanthropy and a mod which adds werewolves to the spawnlists, so they can come and infect you by [del]raping you[/del] meeting you in the woods. Chapter 2: How to install Dual Sheath Redux and Immersive Animations while making them both work. Please keep in mind that these mods require a custom skeleton, which I will talk about in Chapter 4. First, download and install Dual Sheath Redux, then download the optional downloads that fit your needs. Make sure to place any patches for custom weapon/armor mods after both DSR and the mod they are patching. I think all the patches do are to modify the weapon mesh so that they actually have sheathes in order to give out a "realistic" feeling, so don't panic if there is no patch for your favorite mod. Once that is done and all the files are fully installed, make a pugin for the SkyProc Patch. Don't worry, it's not that hard, all you have to find is the path to the SkyProc patch for the mod and the path to your java launcher. The rest is explained on the wiki page I linked. Next, we have Immersive Animations. This mod requires FNIS, I will explain how to use FNIS in chapter 6. Just like DSR, download what you need and install it. Keep in mind that you can only install one animation for the dagger and sword draw animation. This means that you for example can't install "dual dagger wield" and "IAN Single-Hand Sword and Dagger on Back Wield". Look at the description of the files, any file that says they alter the draw animation for daggers or swords will fuck up when used together, so only install one of them. Of course, this means that you can only use one combination when using daggers or swords without the draw animation being strange. Other than that, the mod should work fine once you get a skeleton and a FNIS patch ready. If you wonder what order you should install them, I have my list here: [t]http://i.minus.com/iJCwaKWnxIpxa.png[/t] Chapter 3: Body mods. (this is where shit gets fucked up) Please keep in mind that this is suited for my personal preferences. Selecting body mods are like choosing between a mac and a PC, both are supported by different things and those things are sometimes not compatible with the other. The big competitors are CBBE and UNP. I will show you how to install UNPB, which is a UNP-style body mod. If you want jiggly breasts (which I am sure you do if you are willing to take this step), install CHSBCDASBCDSCHBSCDSABD-BBP (or whatever it was called). After that, install UNP. Both of them should be fairly easy to install. After that, install UNPB-BBP. This mod comes with its own installer and is made by the same person who made the skeleton mod I will mention later, therefore, I wouldn't recommend installing the skeleton mod provided with the installer because I will show you how to install it in the next chapter. This mod also have some options for animations, install these as you will, apart from the custom dagger or sword draw animations. I would also recommend not installing the shield-arm-bug-fix, because I will show you how to install FNIS later. The 360 walking animations may also bug screw with your camera. Now that you have your very own female body mod, I would recommend installing some clothing for it. For that, I recommend Killer Keos Skimpy armor replacer. This is extremely skimpy, but was the most... er... "covering"... of the clothing mods that actually support most armors and clothes. There are more clothing and armor mods on the UNPB page, in case you don't like this one. In order to use most of the fancy sliders most female body mods have, I'd recommend installing RaceMenu. If you installed the nude version of UNPB I described just now or any female body mod, I would recommend installing Schlongs of Skyrim to give male characters the same treatment. This is pretty straight-forward to install and has its own installer. Install it with your own preferences, since it's the only male nude mod out there, it should be supported with pretty much all the naughty mods on loverslab. Now that you have installed those mods, you may look at beast races and think "Lizards and cats don't work like that!" This is the part where you install the main file for Immersive bodies. The download links are on the author's Tumblr, but the keys are hidden in the description for the mod. Only download the main file for now, the genders file is for later. What the mod actually does is giving beast races ditigrade legs and more visible claws. It also gives Khajiit 8 nipples or a slightly different dick and give Argonian males giant spiky dicks. It also adds piercings for each race and gender in a chest on the top of the college of Winterhold. The mod is still in development and I don't think it supports TBBP (jiggly breasts) and clothing mods yet. It's also based on UNP instead of UNPB, so expect slightly smaller breasts. One last thing. If you want a belly slider for your UNP body, go to the estrus charus download page (please don't ask me why, but this is the only place to get it) and download the belly slider from there. If you plan on installing estrus charus later, you don't have to do this, just use the installer when I tell you to install loverslab mods. Chapter 4: Spooky scary skeletons. The skeleton mod I'm about to mention is made for the "realistic force"-version of Realistic Ragdolls and Force. You don't have to install it, but you won't be able to move ragdolls without it. The XPMS skeleton is in my opinion the best skeleton mod on the nexus. It's compatible with a bunch of stuff and it's easy to install with it's own installer. As I've said before, don't install the new draw animation for daggers and swords and don't install the shield-arm-fix. The rest is up to you. If you have SoS installed (you naughty little bastard), install this patch for it. Install the file with both SoS, XPMS and SMS included and place it after both of those in your load order. I don't know what SMS is and I don't know what it does. If you have RaceManu installed, you may want the sliders for XPMS to go with it. Chapter 5: Loverslab. Now things are getting fucked up. First, you need the SexLab framework. Both this and some other sex mods require FNIS, I will show you how to use it in the next chapter. This framework contains all the animations you need for your naughty deeds or for naughty things to happen to your character. Take your time to read the description, especially the "requirements"- (I will show you how to get and use FNIS later) and the "suggestions"-parts. Creature animations are also included, but can disable them if you still don't want to go to hell. If you however are interested in going on a holiday for eternity in the hottest part of hell, you may want the animal raping your character to have something to rape your character with. There are several modders that are trying to make penises for animals, I'll give you my personal favorite. Install "Immersive bodies - Genders" from the author's Tumblr. The download keys are hidden in the mod's description page. I recommend downloading the non-dawnguard version because it includes horse and dragon penises genitilia, these are, however, still in development, so don't expect quality. After that, install Horny Dogs of Skyrim, this will give wolves and other canine beings giant dicks to rape your character with. You'll have to dig through to the files of the mod to choose which one you want, just rename it so it doesn't have a postfix, like "wolf.nif" or "wolfblack.nif". I recommend the veiny one. Next, install bestiality extras for more animal penises and SexLab nude creatures to hide the genitals when the animals aren't raping you. Please keep in mind that "bestiality animation pack" is obsolete if you have SexLab already installed and may fuck shit up if you have it installed at the same time as SexLab, so don't install it. As for plugins to actually make the SexLab animations trigger, I can't help you. Just go wild and download what you want. Reading a whorim playthrough is most fun when everyone are trying out different mods. If you are clueless, though. I'll upload my current mod list at the end of this post, so you can read that. One mod I can give instructions for is Estrus. It is fantastic and you need to get it. However, because of a fault made by the author, it makes FNIS spew out errors. Don't worry, these errors don't affect your game, but there is a way to get rid of them. To do this, find the folder for Estrus in your Mod Organizer/mods folder and go to meshes/Actor/characters/animations/zzEstrus and open FNIS_zzEstrus_List.txt. Delete any line referring to the animations that aren't in that folder. This will make FNIS not look for them, which will make it stop spewing errors. Chapter 6: FNIS. Download and install it. I would recommend getting the "creatures" file, just in case you want the animal animations for SexLab after all. The animations can also be disabled through SexLab's MCM menu, so there is no reason not to install FNIS creatures. Once you've got FNIS and the creature plugin installed, make a patcher for Mod Organizer for the GenerateFNISforUser tool and run it. Make sure to tick "GENDER Specific Animation" and "SKELETON Arm Fix" before clicking the big yellow button. Wait until it's done patching and click "consistence check", if nothing pops up, you should be good to go. The details are described in the tutorial I linked. Make sure to run the FNIS tool every time you install, modify or uninstall a mod that has anything to do with animations or skeletons! Chapter 7: Before playing. -Did you run the FNIS thing? I hope you did. -Run BOSS and see if everything is OK. -Run Wrye Bash and make a bashed patch for leveledlists and marge mods it recommends you to merge. -Go to the lowest mod on your mod list in Mod Organizer, which should be called "Overwrite", if it is red, double click on it and move the files over to the mod above it. I would recommend making a new folder in your "mods" folder (which should add a new mod on your list). The "Overwrite" mod contains files created by other mods, like SkyProc patches or files generated by FNIS. -Click the triangle in the top right corner in Mod Organizer, if it's red, it means you have potential errors that should be fixed. Once you're sure that everything works as it should, start SKSE through Mod Organizer and make a new game. After creating a character, open your pause menu and start configuring your mods. Make sure all setting for every mod are to your liking. Once you are sure every setting is to your liking, you can finally start playing. Chapter 8: My updated loverslab modlist. The mods described earlier and: Pretty khajiit - Makes khajiit look fucking adorable! actorEvents - Framework needed for "Estrus Charus". no
I blame Maverick entirely.
We've lost him. We're too late. He's beyond saving now.
Replace Project Flintlock with this this or this this if you want to go call of duty. I mean look at this shit. There is no hope for this thread.
For some reason music doesn't play in my Skyrim anymore. It's just dead silent now. Suggestions? Verifying the game's cache just leads to it telling me I was missing one file and that it would download it. Every time.
Now one of my dialogue options is just repeating endlessly when I click either option. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/52116717/Screenshots%20and%20Images/Morrowind/BarneyGlitch.png[/t] I have no luck :/
Decided that dark-skinned Nord is more appropriate for Storm due to the height of Nordic ladies, and the Resist Frost being more in line with her powers over Resist Poison. Also I can imagine Battle Cry is actually these:
Are there a mod that makes everyone in the game killeable? Thinking of skyrim.
I think that there is a Skyrim.ini command that makes that possible, but I don't know what it is.
Just messing with the game: [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7211550/Images/Gaems/TESV%202013-12-27%2000-37-51-89.png[/t] NOW it's not lore friendly
Are there a mod that makes everyone in the game killeable? Thinking of skyrim.
There's a mod that's on skyrimgems that gives you the ability to backstab/slit the throat of anyone from behind with a 100% guaranteed death and there's an option that comes with it to kill essentials. There are already A TON of mods that make everyone non-essential but I like this one in particular because considering how important essential NPCs tend to be it's nice to have a confirmation before killing them, it avoids collateral damage (and you still have an advantage with certain unkillable followers). Anyway, to come back to talks of roleplay and backstory (because I'd have this conversation a billion times over talking about sex mods), I think anything is allowed even within vanilla Skyrim because of a very simple lore fact : gods are utterly unpredictable dicks. When they feel like something drastic is going to happen soon and can actually cause them harm (dagoth ur, mehrunes dagon, alduin, etc), they make a big-ass plan divided in essentially three parts : - Give people crazy-ass prophetic hallucinations via elder scrolls or divine intervention (or both) several centuries if not millenias before the actual shit's gonna go down - Pick one or several unlucky assholes and force them into a chain of events that will put them right where they need to be - Make them overpowered as fuck and essentially invulnerable until they do what they have to do It ALWAYS happens this way. The reasons why you were chosen are never established and essentially the nine have made you an OP douchebag who is pardoned all possible crimes and allowed any deals with the daedra (normally, other mortals tend to get buttfucked by karma REALLY hard if they deal with daedras). Anything else is conjecture and left to the player's imagination : for all you know, the dragonborn was a happy farmer with a wife and family before the gods figured he'd make a good dragon killer and they made him snap into a fit of murderous amnesiac rampage, making him murder his entire family, burn down the house and steal a pair of shitty ragged trousers before running like a maniac to the border where he got caught and dragged to a cart to be right at Helgen when Alduin would show up. The explanation why you can spit fire out of your hands and heal yourself despite being dressed in some old stinky rags and why you can handle all types of armor and weaponry despite being rather obviously a random hobo picked on the side of the road by an imperial convoy is because the gods have essentially taken you, a random basic guy, and turned you into a brainwashed murder-machine. That, or you were actually quite resourceful, until these same gods found you and dumbed you the fuck down before dumping your ass in a prison or as a prisoner with no memory whatsoever so you wouldn't try to stray away from your objective. Morrowind makes this very clear : you are there because the gods have given some jackass a crazy prophecy about a random orphan saving the world, and later on what happened ? Your sorry ass was chosen to be an orphan born on a certain day of uncertain parents to become the savior of Morrowind. It doesn't even matter if you decide to refuse the quest or somehow manage to fuck up horrendously : the gods will just pick up another poor fucker, dump him on another boat, and send him to morrowind as well. In Oblivion, you just sort of pop the fuck out of nowhere and people have no explanation as to how a random prisoner found his way in a cell everyone in the imperial prison was ordered to keep empty. The cell has a god damn secret passageway to the outside of the prison, you'd think the place would be barred down and closed for eternity just to avoid a prisoner finding his way into the cell and bippity-boppity-backing his ass up and out of jail, but somehow a random motherfucker still makes it in there, has no clue who the emperor is, and can still cast fireballs like it's nothing. Hell in one of my playthroughs I just decided that my character was a rather rich imperial living in Leyawiin with his family until a madman showed up with a knife, butchered his loved ones in front of him and told the guy to be at Helgen on the 17th of Last Seed, 201 before ripping out his entire throat with the same knife. All of this because the gods felt like making a good point about how really fucking important getting right there to see alduin and trigger the chain of event leading to his untimely ass-kicking was.
Arena Update: With no need to sidequest anymore, today I powered through the remainder of the main quest. 4 last Staff Pieces and the final confrontation with Jagar Tharn. Crystal Tower was satisfyingly loot-dense, but the remaining 3 dungeons (Crypt of Hearts, Murkwood, and Dagoth-Ur) I got a little impatient and just Passwall'd my way through every shortcut the UESP revealed to me. Same with the Imperial Palace, although to be honest, if I didn't, I'd probably have to fight a shitton of liches, and the few I did encounter would repeatedly vaporize me. I DID try to fight Tharn himself, but apparently he's almost completely immune to melee damage so I had to rush to the key I needed to rush to the final objective, where I was able to finally beat the game and save the Emperor. Now that I've beaten the whole game, my review can be summed up in one word: ... meh. The long version, however, can be expressed this way: It really did not have the same feeling the sequels had. The story was a generic "find the dragonballs" plot, the quests had no variety, the gameplay was lackluster, the NPCs had no character, and the environments had none of that feeling of awe and beauty the later sequels would give to Vvardenfell, Cyrodil, and Skyrim. It's not at all difficult to see why the game wasn't even that well-received back when it came out, and why it just barely had enough of a fandom to warrant a (supposedly vastly superior) sequel. But I played it. Now I can say I have if the situation ever requires it (not that I can think of any that would). I shall rest well tonight. Tomorrow, I set sail for the Kingdom of Daggerfall!
The gods during Skyrim's time must have been assholes because they pull the MC through a terrible storyline as well.
The gods are always assholes. They pretty much denied you the chance of saving the emperor at the start of Oblivion because it would have delayed the prophecy and if there is one thing gods don't like it's a little mortal shithead fucking up their schedule. That, and the gods really fucking hate the numidium and everyone trying to control the thing so they just decided to murder them one after the other. Uriel Septim being the last living mortal on Tamriel that got to control the numidium, they just decided to off him eventually. Hell, the only reason the MC in Skyrim is a Dragonborn is probably because Talos and Akatosh were really, REALLY pissed at the Thalmor and wanted to wave their big divine dicks at the dominion so they just dropped the most nord thing they could think of to kick alduin's ass, which all things considered wasn't even necessary considering the hero of kvatch wasn't actually qualified or skilled at all to beat Mehrunes Dagon's ass, it was someone else's job all along.
Is it bad if I think the Nords are the prettiest race? Vanilla, of course.
fucking hell that "mod guide" is a prime goddamn example of why i'm scared to come in here now
