It's probably just me, but I think Skyrim's Thieves' Guild already fails with the name. It's much more of a Rogues'/Mercenaries' Guild if anything. It worked in Oblivion because they actually did work in secret, there were a bunch of Imperials hunting them down and iirc they didn't take contracts from outsiders like a bunch of mercenaries. And there was the honor code.
This. In Skyrim they're just the wannabe mafia.

This is in the South Wall Corner Club.). I think oblivion is the only one out of the three most recent games that they work secretly.
I checked Uesp for all the stuff you can unlock for the thieves guild. It requires 125 small jobs to be done to get all the upgrades. 125 JOBS. Who the fuck is going to sit through this, the jobs are literally all the same shit. Speaking of shit quests, the barenziah quest is retarded. I'm fine with long-lasting fetch quests like this, but one of the stone is in proudspire manor which you have to buy for 25K FUCKING GOLD. Twenty five thousand septims for a decorative object sitting on your desk and a passive that gives you more gems. Who the fuck thought this was a good idea ?

It requires only 20 to become thieves guild master and have the fully decked out Thieves Guild back.(5 quests for the 4 cities that have their own world cell) It requires 125 jobs if you want all the trophies on the shelf and that silly safe that is pretty useless once you've done 125 jobs. You seem to be off on a Skyrim Rant today.
When I say unlock all the stuff I mean ALL the stuff, everything included. I still have no clue why they decided to just make a system like that where you do one repetitive mission after the other rather than straight-up give you a single radiant quest where you go around asking for associates who then give you errands or ask for bribes. Would have been much better and much more fitting than to suddenly have a trophy appear on your shelf because you reached the artificial milestone of 5/15/25/35/etc jobs done. There is no fun in having an object like that handed out to you, especially when the game is all about exploration and discovery. So far I've been limiting my playthroughs of Skyrim to dungeon crawling and exploration, I did the main quest a single time all the way back when I first bought the game and never bothered completing the guilds or civil war questlines more than once either. I didn't even do both sides of the civil war yet. I started doing some of the quests and they are really highlighting how bland and dull the whole thing tends to be. Like seriously at this point I don't even bother with the questline, I downloaded a mod to activate dragons right at the start and I spend the game finding all the words and unlocking them, giving myself the ones that are quest-obtained via console. it's much funnier that way than going around doing stupid underwhelming shit.
the falmer are such a fucking pain to kill, so many of them.
If you're a stealth-oriented character like me with a couple of Elven daggers and sneak level 100, they're easy as fuck to destroy
Apart from Todd Howard, some other guy and a sound designer I'm pretty sure all people responsible for Daggerfall and Morrowind are gone. Like I've said many times, those two games survived not because they're really good games but because they're really good fiction. Some of that translates into good gameplay though. So what you get now are shit quests and schizophrenic world interactions.
the stuff that is bad in morrowind and daggerfall wasn't bad when they came out because unstreamlined shittiness and pen and paper mechanics were normal
yes
Also, hard to believe this wimp was the King of Worms: Come on Todd, what did you done to the original Daggerfall appearance? At least the questline was pretty good, compared to the horrible Winterhold questline.
It's explained in game and in lore that the Mannimarco in Oblivion was the mortal part of him that had somehow been split from the ultimate god-lich Mannimarco during the warp in the west. And if he's not a lich, then he's just a normal old Altmer necromancer, really. They could have spruced him up with some fancy robes or something, though.

Welp, got tired of my thief character. I'll make a new playthrough as a new bar-brawling orc that's nice with everyone but likes to beat things up because he's an orc. SPERG turns a good chunk of pickpocket into unarmed so this is gonna be fun. It includes perks that make you more powerful at hand to hand combat the more shitfaced you get.
A bit late, but: yeah, the Thieves Guild questline kinda sucks. "Oh no! He's going to steal the Eyes of the Falmer!" "What's that?" "You don't know? They're only the most famous gems ever! They're some random gems made by a forgotten race hidden away in a flooded, falmer infested Dwemer ruin, how couldn't you know about it? And this guy is going to steal it! He's a master thief and we must master out-thief him!" "He's going to steal them... from a blind race?" "He's a master thief." And the radiant quests you mentioned. "Guildmaster, to fund the Thieves Guild, you must go on this perilous, randomly generated quest to steal: some random gold statue from a hobo. Don't ask how he got it." Not to mention the Dark Brotherhood radiant quests. On the other hand, the Dark Brotherhood main quest line is pretty cool. Stealth is pretty borked, yeah. It's the middle of the night, you fire an arrow at someone on a bridge a hundred yards away, they dodge out of the way somehow. You walk right past a guy standing next to a bonfire in a dungeon, "What was that?" I understand the Falmer being strong, because they're a creepy forgotten Lovecraftian race. Now, the Forsworn, on the other hand, are complete bullshit. They're half naked and wield sharpened sticks, but they seem stronger than bandits.

Daggerfall update: I have no clue how, but I was able to purchase a Daedric Longsword at level 11, and found an enchanted Daedric Tanto in dungeon loot. I wonder if this means I'll be able to buy/find Daedric Armor soon. If so, awesome. Can't wait.
To be fair I wouldn't want to fuck with a bunch of hippies who replace their own hearts with pinecones.
With some sweetass looking armor. I love the forsworn helms.
Why is Fargoth so infamous to Morrowind fans? I haven't played Morrowind enough to understand this.
Why is Fargoth so infamous to Morrowind fans? I haven't played Morrowind enough to understand this.
When you give him his lost ring he treats you like the world's savior (disposition bar goes all the way up to 90/100 and he fucking loves you for it). Come back four days later, disposition 40/100, he tells you to hurry the fuck up. He's either a massive dick or amnesiac. It's even worse when you realize the guy never stops whining about the imperial legion bullying him, but if he treats everyone like he treats the player no shit he's getting shit thrown at all the time.
Just finished all of A Dance in Fire. God that was good. Highly recommend it.
Just finished all of A Dance in Fire. God that was good. Highly recommend it.
Be sure to read "The Argonian Account", too. I have an app for my phone that has almost all the books that were written in the series. The only exceptions are the ones that were added in Skyrim's DLC.
Or you can just go on Uesp. I wish Bethesda would publish books from the video games. I mean they got some TES themed novels published already so why not.

I'm going to reinstall oblivion. Can anyone recommend me good armour/weapon mods that fit into the lore of the game? And when I say that I just mean stuff that doesn't look hilariously out of place like anime chainmail thongs with angel wings or shit like that. Just good old medieval and high fantasy stuff, full plate armour and the like.
Does the Lusty Argonian Maid have an of the sorts of things you'd expect from the title?
There are tons of mods on nexus that finish that book i remember reading one which went on for like... 90 pages
Now that is a Nexus I can depend on.
