does anyone remember that mod or tweak (pretty sure it was an .ini change) that made all the sounds in skyrim come out with greater detail and depth? it was posted on youtube and had a lot of views but obviously i can't remember what it was called.
it got paraded around as an example of why PC was the better platform. i can't remember exactly what it did but i remember hearing it in headphones and it made a drastic, extremely unexpected amount of difference
It's called Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (AOS). I can't find the link because nexus servers.
linky linky to Audio Overhaul for Skyrim
No guarentees the link works though, Nexus has been in the crapper since they've centralized their servers.

There's a problem with acronyms in Skyrim Modding. Especially that acronym that you just used. It could be taken in two ways.
i obviously meant schlongs of skyrim
god

I miss Daggerfall's writing on the map.

An alternative is to buy an old fashioned journal made with leather straps and role play that way. I was tempted to do that at one point.

I needed this a long time ago. I have such a crappy memory that I often forget what the fuck I was trying to do the last time I played. Sometimes I keep notes in an actual notebook reminding myself what the hell I was trying to do. Of course, this was more relevant back in Morrowind when there wasn't a quest arrow. But still.
On that, I hate how you really can't complete a lot of quests without it. Back in Morrowind you'd get a nice description of where you were going and what you needed to do. Admittedly, sometimes the descriptions weren't that helpful (anybody else get lost looking for the "teeth of the wind"?). Then comes Oblivion and voice acting. To cut down on the amount of dialog to record, they just give you a vague "go and do this thing", and an omniscient arrow pops up. When it's pointing to a geographical location it's easy enough to just pretend that they gave you a better description and you marked it on your map. Only breaks immersion a little. But when the quest is "go find [some random NPC]" and the arrow tells you exactly where they are at this moment, even if nobody but [random NPC] should know (like that Imperial/Stormcloak courier in the civil war quest who is out in the wilderness somewhere)? Dafuq?

Not even for roleplay, dude, just general "This is the combination for the door" or "You left behind a bunch of neat shit at Generic Point"

"I want to make corpses stay persist even if you leave them for a long time"
"lol fuck you, the only way to do that is to make it a reference inside of an active quest"
This is random and all, but...
Why the hell did I not try some alternate start mods sooner?! Gods, I hate going through that tutorial dungeon with every new toon. And having every character backstory require an explanation for why you were trying to cross that border at that time.

I heard it a few times on the Bethsoft forums and I still think it's stupid as all hell.
Also, I found a sight that has the face sliders for a lot of the NPCs in Skyrim. Is it immoral to make your character look exactly like a marriable NPC and then marry your cosmic clone?

make nazeem
go to the cloud district together
It's something I picked up from the person who got me started on WoW. And it is stupid. And I'd never actually say it aloud in conversation. But "toon" takes a lot less time to type than "character" and I'm doing a hell of a lot of typing today.
Incest!
It's not incest, just a highly elaborate form of masturbation.

I use Live Another Life but it has a weird habit of removing some characters from the game entirely or moving them in the wrong place, causing scripts to go wrong and some quests to never start. If I put it all the way to the top on the load order (before .esms) then the game crashes at random.
No one else seems to have that issue though so I assume I'm either using a too old version or I'm shit out of luck.
By the way just a little PSA to everyone using more than 10 mods : use BOSS. It fixes everything.

At least loverslab lets you download stuff.
If loverslab wasn't so focused on downright creepy mods it would have been a decent concurrent to the nexus.

Where, exactly?
I am still on my quest to find a (good) mod on loverslab that doesn't have anything to do with sex or explicit content.

It's a tough quest.

Don't worry, it does have a section for "normal" mods. You can start there, then see if you want to go a bit out of your comfort zone.
Incest!
I remember seeing a mod for that. The thread for it was full of images of male characters with plastic hair.

Most "normal" mods are either terrible model ports from other games, or abominations such as the one I showed.
The few mods that are neither are mostly shitty mods that use vanilla repurposed meshes, like stuff that add "new" bows and arrows which are pretty much just dwemer clutter slapped on an imperial bow with a steel dagger stuck on the end of a normal arrow.
