The Elder Scrolls Megathread XV: A Song of Ice and Draugr

Man I forgot how creepy the main quest is in morrowind.
I really like how everyone's motivation are ambiguous and never truly spelled out, it actually feels like a story rather than a pretext.
And I'm always upset when Caius has to leave for Cyrodiil and leaves you his house, he's the only person who's nice to you right from the start.
When I go back to Skyrim I'll totally buy some mourning clothes and enchant them with some fortify stealth to turn them into Caius' clothes.

I am actually curious, I just got an SSD as well, the 840 EVO, does Skyrim have to be specifically be in the SSD for it to benefit?
has anyone been able to log in to their nexus account via the mod manager for the past week?
I've been able to log in just fine, but my friend says she hasn't been able to for the past month. Given all the issues the nexus has been having lately, I'm not really surprised.

You need to manually upgrade your NMM or else you wont be able to connect.
It ranges from great to good to cringe worthy. Most of it is above par though.
I'd be more than willing to do a bit of voice acting for a companion mod, I just don't know who for though.
I wouldn't say that any of the voice acting in that mod is cringe-worthy atm. Some of it is below-average but the creator is doing a good job at getting new actors to replace the old awful ones.

There's a few, but not many. I'm just a big voice acting lover and hearing clumsy voice acting hurts me.
I remember this one followers mod and it sounded like the guy used his mom for the voice acting.
It was creepy, he prob used some LB mods on her as well I'm pretty goddamn sure judging by the skimpy "armor" he gave her.
Fuck, sometimes I wonder what the devs of these games must think of their.. fans.

So I take it you're not a big fan of Falskaar? :v:

Heresy
Anybody play Frostfall? It has a fur tent that protects against the cold and a leather tent that protects against the rain. I wonder how hard it would be to add a fur-lined leather tent that does both. I've never tried to make a mod that's compatible with something as big as Frostfall. I might finally have to mess with unpacking BSA's, and other things I've avoided learning about so far.
I play it. Can't help you though.

Actually it's not that complicated in essence, you just open the CK and open skyirm.esm as well as the frostfall mod without picking anything as active file, then you save your changes in a new plugin and voila, you made a mod-dependent plugin.
I think the tent's exposure protection is handled by scripts and shit. So he might have to learn some papyrus first.
Well I was talking about creating a plugin that uses another mod as a base, not about making the mod itself.
So I take it you guys don't really care about this since I can't even find any mention of it here:
Happy 2014. Elder Scrolls Online apparently has a price tag of $200 Million.
That's roughly equivalent to TOR's budget, for reference. A bunch of other forums have been talking about it and even some reporters are starting voice their lack of faith in the MMO.
Honestly I think everyone sensible didn't place any hope in that mmo. Why would they.
I haven't felt any hype for TES:O from anyone, it just seems like such a failure. Yeah we get some news on it every now and then but I don't feel like they're doing a good job marketing the game, bad or not.
I would have been at least curious about TES:O, but the whole subscription thing turned me off. If it had a "pay once play forever" thing like Defiance, I would have been willing to play the game no matter how bad it turned out to be.
Maybe I'm just biased cause when Skyrim was coming out everyone was all over that shit, and Skyrim isn't even that good (it's not bad at all but it has a lot of issues) and you'd think an MMO would be even bigger

TES:O isn't a TES game. It's a dumb generic MMO using TES's lore
Or maybe they just let every single person into the beta and now nobody is allowed to talk about the game because of the NDA and the game is actually really good.
Ha.
TES:O had no hype going on because literally no one asked for it in this day and age.
The game may have been better received if it had been announced eight years ago when WoW made MMOs popular, but now MMOs are very rarely considered good and the genre in general has fallen from grace pretty hard. Especially after TOR.
It doesn't help that the game itself looks like nothing special and is not developed by the same people as the main series. Even if Zenimax TRIED to hype the game up, it would still be a failure because nowadays there are very few people willing to spend a considerable amount of money on a game both with the original purchase and the monthly fee, and even less of those people have asked or were expecting an online TES game at all.

Game's a piece of shit.
Oops, broke NDA

The game will remain a complete failure since it's not using a good pricing model. GW2 payment model > don't even try to make an MMO.
What will probably happen is people will play it for a few months, they'll lose or not renew most subscriptions, then they'll be forced to go F2P a year later or something and the game will turn into this
So I take it you're not a big fan of Falskaar? :v:
Falskaar isn't horrid usually, it's just mediocre. I mean, there's a bit here and there where I go "Ok yes you're a girl and that's the only reason you have this part, please shut uuuuuuuuuuup" or "Yes you can poorly impersonate an accent but please shut uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup" but for the most part it's bearable.
And it more than makes up for it with its gameplay.
Well I was talking about creating a plugin that uses another mod as a base, not about making the mod itself.
I know what you meant. I've done mods that build on others (though not well, considering the amount of crashing I caused). But Frostfall is big and has lots of scripts and scares me.
Rabbits getting killed in various terrible ways by NPC mages seems to be a running gag in my current playthrough.

All files have to be on the ssd.
All of them.

Loverslab
Bought skyrim with all DLC for 20$. Where do I start.
Ok.
Step 1. Obtain a mod manager. The popular ones are Wrye bash, Mod Organizer, and NMM. you can find them on the nexus. I personally use NMM for it's ease, but your thoughts may vary.
Step 2. Unofficial patches. Get them. Get them ALL for your mods and expansions. Fixes ALL the things. All of them.
Step 3. how good is your compy. Do you like fancy graphics? Get some of those. The Static Mesh Improvement mod can make your game look goooood. A nice texture overhaul will help too.
step 4. do you play a female? if so, step 5. otherwise, go to step 6.
step 5. UNP-BBP/CBBE body, 85 skimpy armor mods, and everything from Loverslab. Mandatory. You're a female. you're destined for whorerim.
step 6. Get something cool, like some new quests or, if you want to play a vampire/werewolf, one of the many overhauls.
Step 7. Do you use magic? If so, I recommend Apocalypse Spell Package, Midas magic, and (if you're a necromancer), Undeath. It lets you become a lich.
step 8. Get loverslab things anyways if you haven't already.
step 9. Ask thread for advice. Add anything that isn't lore friendly.
step 10. Repeat step 9 until satisfied.
step 11. enjoy.
This is going to sound dumb but I wish there was a gun mod. I think it'd be entertaining going through the game again with a single weapon more overpowered and unbalanced than anything else in existence.
