Doesn't this apply for many games?
some games are just terrible at their core
like morrowind
Usually the people who hate Morrowind are the ones that are terrible at it.
Usually the people who love Morrowind are the ones who are most elitist about it :v:
And for the record, I'm not 'bad' at Morrowind, unless being incapable of being entertained by the slow ass walking from place to place with the occasional stopping to flail at a cliff racer makes me bad at the game.

Or they're just the ones noticing how broken it is.
I walked up to a guy in a cave and we spent 5 minutes standing still swinging at eachother with him occasionally hitting me and me missing every single time. This wouldn't be an issue for me if we weren't standing still making it obvious that I would eventually hit him regardless of my skill. If he had, say, a dodging animation or a block or SOMETHING it would be fine.
XLR is a type of wired connection used with professional microphones. One end goes into the microphone (obviously) while the other goes into your interface which can connect to your computer via USB, firewire, thunderbolt, etc. The difference when it comes to these connections from the interface is latency from the microphone to the computer, but for basic voice over use, it's not going to matter (when it gets to 8+ inputs/outputs, it'll start to be a factor). USB 3.0 will be your best option, though there is nothing wrong with 2.0 for voice over purposes.
There's nothing really too affordable per se, but I'll try my best.
You're going to need an interface that supports 48V. 48V (Phantom Power) is a power supply that is used to power condenser and ribbon microphones. Dynamic microphones for the most part do not need 48V. There are PCI interface's but those are the most expensive but provide the best quality. USB interfaces sacrifice some quality, but it shouldn't be noticeable compared to solid USB microphones. For the interface, I recommend this M-Audio M-Track interface, since it's on the cheaper side. It comes with two inputs if you ever want to go a little further with the recording, but for the price you're getting a great deal.
When it comes to microphones for vocals, I recommend two microphones: The CAD 179 and the Audio Technica 2020. Both are great and have nice sounds for vocals. Personally, I prefer the CAD 179 for its tone but the difference is very slight. The CAD also has a bit more customizable options on the microphone for more specific work. However the Audio Technica is the more affordable of the two.

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT2020-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B0006H92QK/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1388947903&sr=1-2&keywords=audio+technica+2020
Finally, you'll need an XLR Cable, Pop Filter, and a Mic Stand. Be careful though! Some places advertise their XLR cables as $5 which seems right but it really isn't. A poorly made XLR cable creates bad static noise in your audio.
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/XLR5
A pop filter will be fine no matter what you get. Hell, even a pantyhose will work just fine.

And lastly your stand:

This is definitely really intimidating especially when I first did it but believe me it could be much worse, especially when you get into the professional level of recording. I'm still learning a lot every day from my college and it's tough stuff. If all this is way too intimidating then I'd stick with a USB microphone for now in which case check out the Audio Technica USB 2020 or other alternatives. Otherwise if you have a serious passion to start voice over work, I'd start making the investment.
I hope this helps. And if you need anything else feel free to send me a PM.
Oh also just get audacity for your recording software. Nothing special but it gets the job done.

Voice talent was good btw I look forward to hearing more
For those of us who don't plan on investing hundreds in a basic but higher quality setup, apparently Blue microphones ( http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_8?url=search-alias%3Dmi&field-keywords=blue%20microphones&sprefix=blue+mic%2Cmi%2C287&rh=i%3Ami%2Ck%3Ablue%20microphones ) are really good, simply plug+play. Quality for them that from what I've heard sample wise, should give very good results compared to a basic desktop/headset mic setup.
Might not be ideal for someone who wants to get serious with recording, especially recording raw audio files for use in commercial products/games/etc, but should be more than enough for anyone wanting to casually record their voice without it sounding bad. Niether of these options though are that ideal for gaming that said, since the mics will pretty much pick up everything in the room you are in as clear as day.

And what's worse is that there is a mod that makes it so that every hit either of you makes connects, but from what I understand this makes the game ludicrously easy, so you're just boned and have to deal with the silly ass flailing in place of Morrowind.

You entered the wrong part of town, n'wah
Skywind looks like the next milestone in video game modding. After Black Mesa, people have proven that money doesn't matter when it's about immortal games.
I wish more game studios could see this and release development kits/tools for modders, to keep their best and old games alive and popular forever. Imagine all the classics from 10-15 years ago, on the same way as Skywind. That's dream stuff, right there.

I remember playing through morrowind a long ass time ago with the help of friends, I couldn't bear playing it alone because of how sluggish and confusing it was.
With mods coming around I downloaded Morrowind Overhaul, stuff to remove cliffracers plus mods that change magicka regen and that prevent endurance from being drained by running, and actually played alone through the whole thing. I'm maxing out acrobatics and athletics (and made them two of my major attributes) so I go superfast and get leveled up for it.
How does the ENB Cloud Shadows work? When I enable it, it looks like the entire world is covered in a slight shadow. I don't know how to get it to look proper.
Some ENBs require to adjust the ingame luminosity to fit the new settings. If you are talking about a skyrim ENB make sure to disable the native anti-aliasing. For Oblivion ENBs, HDR must be turned on.
So I made a map in the Creation Kit and I want to test it, but the .esp file doesn't show up in the data files bit in the launcher. How do it show up?
Doing an argonian head for the M&B mod, bout time that I get the race selection shit together (other head is not made by me)

I just killed the fuck out of Madanach with a pickaxe.

My favorite playthrough of that quest was with the handyman mod that lets you pick up any object to use as a weapon. When that orc told me to kill someone stealthily, I picked up a shovel and smashed the guy with it. The orc was still happy.
God, Riften is such a shithole. Riften is consistently controlled by Maven Black-Briar and the Thieves Guild no matter what you do. If Laila Law-Giver is Jarl, her steward Anuriel is an infiltrator from the Thieves Guild who makes sure everything goes unnoticed, and Maven could become Jarl anyways. You can't do anything about the Guild other than join it, and all of the Black-Briars except Ingun have Altmer level attitudes.
Markarth isn't much better.

What was that mod for Morrowind that changed the weapon skill to make it a chance of missing instead of a chance of hitting?

Get a killable essentials mod and just do justice yourself.
And if you're on console well you're shit out of luck.

Bethesda Gamebryo games are superior on the PC just for the reason that you aren't fucked if you run into a bug/essential npc you need to fix/fix

Console peasant gets stuck in the worldspace after half an hour of exploring the overworld ? Have fun losing all that progress
PC masterrace gets stuck ? TLC the problem away.

I prefer this one
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=111216195
It lets you actually kill them. As for the Black-Briars, I'll just use the console or something to remove their essential status.
Just get Become High King and either mark all these fuckers for death or actually become high king and sentence them to the chopping block.

I have the mod and I'm pretty damn sure you can kill everyone in the Thieves Guild, including Delvin and Vex? At least, I've done it a few times with it.

Also, Skywind desperately needs voice actresses. So if any y'all nerds have any female friends or relatives that wouldn't mind voice acting for a video game, I'm sure it'd be a huge help to them.

but it's literally impossible to be terrible at morrowind, any lack of skill can be compensated for with grinding

Having to grind for levels in a game is the worst thing that a game can do to you.
Having to grind for levels in a game is the worst thing that a game can do to you.
Funny story that I think is relevant:
Some of the JRPGs that my brother plays has segments where you should grind for the next major challenge. But he says that the grinding is good because it's "Fun Grinding", where the way that you grind never gets stale.
But he says that the grinding is good because it's "Fun Grinding", where the way that you grind never gets stale.
that's a borderline oxymoron
I just installed Estrus and Animated Prostitution. I don't know why I just felt like it. Am I a bad person?

Nah, I'd say you're just about as sane as the rest of us in here.
Or just horny, take your pick.
Having to grind for levels in a game is the worst thing that a game can do to you.
Well, you don't have to grind in Morrowind, if you minmax hard enough you can avoid spending a single second purposely leveling.
