Is the ESO beta test over? I forgot I didn't have it installed, and it's only at 20% after 3 hours of downloading...

So its 6am now and I've been playing ESO all night with my brother, and I've actually kinda enjoyed it! I was expecting the combat to be The Secret World level bad, but having the option of use left click to attack and right click to block is really nice. Although, I'm a mage in it, so I've been using the 1-5 keys alot more. Magicka drains pretty fast, though attacks are extremely powerful - and very satisfying, with good animations and effects (sound and otherwise) As Elspin mentioned earlier, combat is rather easy for reasons above. I've done more damage to myself from falling off towers than I've received from all the mobs in the game, up to level 7. :v: For environments, I'm pleased with how they've represented mainland Morrowind. Looks as alien as it should! As for character creation, all it made me think of was that nexus mod with ridiculous customisation :v:: anyway sleep now
Welp apparently killing myself, having the game auto-load the most recent save lets me save again... for that one time. Then I crash everytime any save is attempted then on. Man, what a fucking bummer. If I can't get my save to work then I'm pretty much done with skyrim. Never even got to try dragonborn yet. Right when I finally achieved the perfect balance between performance and visual fidelity...
Oh cool. I remember the last one being a lot shorter for some reason.
ESO is going to be interesting for sure!, just wish I had gotten a Beta Key ;(
ESO is going to be interesting for sure!, just wish I had gotten a Beta Key ;(
Oh no you did fucking not
ESO is going to be interesting for sure!, just wish I had gotten a Beta Key ;(
ESO is a piece of shit. Did you not read that 5/10 review up there? It was pretty damn accurate.
ESO is going to be interesting for sure!, just wish I had gotten a Beta Key ;(
I think you meant Rust.
I think you meant Rust.
OK can we stop calling Starbound by everything except it's actual name? The joke's starting to get run down a bit.
ESO is a piece of shit. Did you not read that 5/10 review up there? It was pretty damn accurate.
It's really not bad, overall I'm enjoying it. There's a reasonable amount of customization, it's combat is several levels above hotkey combat, and there's a good amount of stuff to do for how early it is. I mean it's definitely not the quality of a single-player game but find me an MMO that is. [sp](if you answer WoW I swear on me mum)[/sp]
OK can we stop calling Starbound by everything except it's actual name? The joke's starting to get run down a bit.
uh u talkin shit bout starbound ill slap u
ESO is a piece of shit. Did you not read that 5/10 review up there? It was pretty damn accurate.
Oh wow really?, I didn't realize. How tho it looked quite good from what i'd seen with trailers and in game footage. Can you elaborate?, was their some mechanics people weren't happy with. Also i can't find this 5/10 review ;
ESO... Looks pretty, controls like an old truck, and gameplay is very easy and disappointing. Most animations need smoothing out (Characters are too stiff). They have to fix the stuck in dialogue mode bug that happens on a handful of characters (So far, I'm only after the Dock fight). They need to fix a marker relating to the main quest on the beginning island (So many people asking where to go). Combat needs to be more responsive. I've met one character with a robo/Microsoft Sam-like voice (Caprenter, Beginner Island), and so far, no character that I could get attached to as it rushes you through everything. Dungeons are piss easy (Maybe gets harder later) and short / disappointing. I think I've heard at least two Skyrim voice actors already (Galmar, and Belethor), with one other guy Im sure I've heard before (Ice Man, beginning island...). Overall: 5/10 Graphics are nice, but having to have a good game, it's needs substance as well as style. Polish a shit, and it's still a shit... just a prettier looking shit. Not worth $60, let alone the $15 a month.
I would believe he's talking about this 5/10 review.
I would believe he's talking about this 5/10 review.
Ah Ty man, well I guess we can only wait and see if they make the first ever really terrible Elderscrolls game, Basically the first mind you that will actually "INCLUDE" multiplayer
Spent a good 8 hours or so in The Elder Scrolls: Online at this point and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. After reading all the bad posts about the game in the past week or so it really made me go in with very low expectations. If you go in there expecting Skyrim or Skyrim with multiplayer, it's not going to be the game for you. It's disappointing if you compare it to Skyrim, it's the standard Kill X Fetch Y quests we have seen for the past ten years and the story overall is rather lackluster. But if you're like me, someone who mainly plays MMO's and is looking for something new. This is for you! It's not like other TES games in terms of interactivity in the world, you can loot almost all containers in the world. The combat is very good. Yes, it needs some polishing but compared to games such as Fallen Earth, Darkfall or Mortal online, it's a lot better. If you like class customization, you will enjoy this game. It's a mix between level and skill based system, catching the old TES feel but still balancing it for a MMO. Every weapon has it's own skill tree which you unlock by using that type of weapons and abilities more. So if you feel like it you can go Restoration Staff(Healing) and mix abilities and passives from that tree together with abilities from Sword and Shield, and then you might want to decide to use medium armour for the mobility. Suddenly you're a defensive healer who can block and dodge attacks that have good defensive cooldowns. For someone who loves games such as Path of Exile because of the open ended class customization, I know I will end up enjoying this game for a long time. You should go in to the game expecting a MMO and not another TES title. I know many people are going to disagree with me, but for what TESO is trying to accomplish. It's doing it very well. And I have to remind you all, it's still only in beta and is three months from release.
Can you go anywhere on the main landmass besides Cyrodiil in this beta?
Building a house on Skyrim, and I'm having a hard time deciding what rooms to add to it... I already got an Alchemy lab, and I'm pretty sure I'm also going to build the library, but then I don't know whether to have the Storage room, Armory, or Trophy room.
Can you go anywhere on the main landmass besides Cyrodiil in this beta?
I haven't even got to Cyrodiil yet - you start off on a sort of tutorial island (in my case Bleakrock Isle), then you go down to eastern mainland Morrowind. Still working my way through it though, can't just keep travelling between - gotta do quests in each area to proceed. Here's a list of maps in the game which I presume means these are all accessable places Grahtwood is interesting, the Breton's crazy tree city thingy is in psychadelic colours :v:
the Breton's crazy tree city thingy is in psychadelic colours :v:
Is that a bug?
Is that a bug?
Presumably, or it's dev textures of a sort
Can you go anywhere on the main landmass besides Cyrodiil in this beta?
This is what is currently available. Apparently it's what is currently available during beta. More zones will be there on release and even more in future updates. Cyrodiil is the PVP area in the game, resembling a lot like WvW in Guild Wars 2 all the alliances in the game battles to be dominant in Cyrodiil. I've heard there's PVE content in Cyrodiil aswell.
Anybody else with a beta key getting a "login failed" error right now?
Anybody else with a beta key getting a "login failed" error right now?
Yeah just got kicked out and can't log back in
This game is, surprisingly, exactly what I expected. That is to say that I won't be buying it. God help this game if they try to get a monthly fee out of it.
Anybody else with a beta key getting a "login failed" error right now?
Keep on trying. Took me a few tries to get back in.
This game is, surprisingly, exactly what I expected. That is to say that I won't be buying it. Getting an error 103. Now 108.
