The Elder Scrolls Megathread XV: A Song of Ice and Draugr

As far as discussion about that one map from a few pages back goes, the only time Lyg is mentioned in lore is by Mankar Camoran, and as seen in Oblivion he was known for half truths and ramblings. It's safe to assume that Lyg may not actually be a physical continent, if it even exists. Nobody else ever speaks of it. Also, Yokuda, even before being sunk, wasn't a continent larger than Tamriel like in that picture. It was big, but definitely not that big. And by all accounts Akavir is an entire continent not just an island.

I'm also pretty sure Pyandonea should be larger than that. Pretty sure it's supposed to be like at least half the size of the Summerset Isles. And also much further south of it.
I just finished installing the 95 mods I found useful/nice/required, installed them all using NMO, been playing for 4 hours and it's completely stable. MAGIC.
Did you install dual sheathe redux and immersive animations? If not, I made a tutorial for installing them. :v:

I did not, but I just might. Wouldn't mind a link to the tutorial.
Whether it goes to Goku levels or not, the point is still the same. When characters are shown to be seriously above the level of normal humanity (and four time is), things just get less badass.
For Spiderman to do something that's considered awesome, he needs to punch through a mugger and knockout the guy behind him.
For average Joe to be considered badass, all he needs to do is knock out that same mugger with a single punch.
Once you get onto the treadmill of shit getting more and more absurd, you can't get off it, and it pretty much inevitably leads to the ruination of the series in question.

Plus I don't wholly care for the notion of RPG characters starting off as pansies and becoming demigods by the end of the game.
It's like the game is saying, "this guy has spent his entire adult life with meh physical prowess, but now he's swinging swords around, he becomes Superman in three weeks."
I suppose it's not impressive when spiderman knocks out a single guy. But it's awesome if spiderman were to knock out a whole bunch of spidermans. When spiderman isn't fighting a load of spidermans... He should essentialy be able to kill his opponents with style anyways. Even if you kept the characters within realistic restrictions they'd get to the point where most characters won't be any competition.
Game shouldn't be 'Ability, Numbers, Effect.' but rather 'numbers, ability, effect'. Just having more health and doing more damage doesn't cut it.

Do you think Kirkbride would be a good or bad GM for an RPG.
Do you think Kirkbride would be a good or bad GM for an RPG.
Good because he could make up interesting situations.
Bad because he would take any and all chances to really screw with your party.
Do you think Kirkbride would be a good or bad GM for an RPG.
I'd say... Interesting.
He'd have his ups and downs.
The story and world c/would be fucking awesome while at times being bloody annoying.
Not sure what to think of the inevitable Metagaming aspect of it, though.

Obviously eventually the PC will get OP, but there's a major difference between being OP when fighting normal dudes and being OP when fighting a bunch of other OP dudes.
Again, it's opening the door to absurdity.
So i've been trying to make a hand-to-hand character in oblivion
only to find out that it's retarded weak, as in, you deal two damage each punch even though you have nearly 40 skill in the bloody thing and a lot of strenght.
Is there a mod that improves that?
I was talking about the DCAU voice of Wondy, Susan Eisenburg...
Oh, that one. Forgot she was in Skyrim. My mind usually goes right to Carter when someone says "Wonder Woman".

But hey, double the Wondy, double the fun.

Not enough clashing colours on the armour, because obviously pink and green meshes well if they give you a 3% advantage over a good-looking set.
I'm surpisingly loving hardcore in Frostfall and RnD. They aren't a pain to play with but simply make me plan out my adventures differently. SkyRE is also great I love the combat changes.
Eh I recently installed skyre to see how it was, idk if it is the encounter zones or my CCO, but I am running a heavy armor witch hunter, which is basically the standard bow paladin. Basically I am killing most things pretty damn quickly, and some things dmg me decently, but nothing has been very "strong" yet. Albeit Ive only ran into a group of bandits and am halfway through a dungeon, but encounter zones made it sound like I could have the possibility of encountering a high level dungeon that will fuck my shit, yet I seem to be killing faster than standard vanilla skyrim.
I see the encounter zones esp is acive, so I think it might be the CCO starting me out with a level 33 in archery... I one shot skeletons, which the author specifically said are "strong against bladed weapons and arrows". Yet I am using the hunting shortbow the weakest bow in the game with iron arrows and I am one shotting these skele-tons to hell and back. Maybe encounter zones gave me a low level dungeon, but I found dwarven gauntlets almost immediately which the mod author said that "good loot would be in higher level dungeons" so all in all I am pretty fucking confused as I expected something way more difficult. The skeletons barely damage me (albeit I am using heavy armor and with CCO my armor level is at like 30 when I am level 3, so it might be CCO). Either way it is confusing me and making me disappointed as I expected it to be a lot deeper forcing me to use tactics like on the skeletons I expected my arrows to be useless forcing me to use magic, but as said I am one shotting them with the weakest bow/ammo in the game.

Must be some conflict. I'm playing on Expert currently and the higher damage stuff caused me to only go to bleak falls until like level 8 or so with already some crafted armor. I kind of enjoy how brutal it feels now. Enemies block a lot and are much harder to kill I find.
Some dungeons though are easy and some I can't even touch yet which I like with the leveled system.
No idea how it works, but I'm liking it. : \

Yea I will probably raise the difficulty a bit, I think it defaulted back to adept.
Also I might just be in a low level dungeon, because it is near helgen...?

Maybe. I'm doing some small stuff in Markath and it feels much more challenging overall.
Extant is what remains of it and Projected is what sunk.
And yeah, they used the Pankratosword style which they stole from the Lefthanded elves which cut the uncuttable atomo or something and nuclear explosion which sank half of the place.
[editline]24th January 2014[/editline]
Not all of them, just the Stars and Sun.
The moons and other plane[t]s are infinite planes floating within the infinite plane of Oblivion.
Wait, the sinking of Yokuda is a direct transliteration of the end of WWII?
Michael Kirkbride, what are you doing?
I'm not entirely convince Kirkbride knows he's on Earth as we know it.
Also, I want to shout in the middle of Windhelm "Ulfric is lame-o-rama" just to see what happens.

yeah i guess, if the americans went to japan and used a stolen sword to slice an atom in half and most of the island sank into the pacific ocean
Stolen sword style, not a sword.

Cyrus (Redguard PC and HoonDing) threatened Vivec with it once to get the Opal of Nogru.
Coincidentally the Opal of Nogru is just some Opal, at least as far as I know.

Yea and I mean it can't be a conflict, as I ran it all through wyre bash and then boss without any errors or warnings popping up and CCO is explicitly recommended by skyre's mod author in the description... I just hate how is vague over whether or not it needs to be reproc. But to be honest other tests I ran seem to indicate that it doesn't require it as standing stone stats from skyre transfer over (for example I used CCO to give me the atronach stone, which stated I would get the standard buffs, but upon checking my active effects tab I had the bonuses prescribed from skyre so I don't think it would be only a specific one-time thing?).

Hey it's perfect -- the main body of research in nucleonics came from Germany, as did many of the scientists on the Manhattan Project.

this is ridiculous
Twice now have I went to go to the Forgotten Vale to get Auriel's Shield, but both times I've forgotten the Ruby Paragon
