because Windhelm is the only dreary city and has an open "poor section"
Well, it fits that theme more than anyplace else would
Industrialized Riften?
Industrialized Dawnstar?
Solitude? Whiterun?
Falkreath makes the most sense.
I do think the idea of a city trying to adapt Dwemer technology to develop a strong industry is really cool, but I don't thing it fits with Windhelm, or really any of the other cities in the game besides Markarth.

Are there any Dwemer ruins in Falkreath?
Falkreath makes the most sense.
What! nooo. Falkreath is all about nature.
I don't think the mod is trying to say that the nords took dwemer shit and are actually using it or anything like that, pretty sure it's just meant to be visual thing, and like I said, I'm pretty sure they chose Windhelm because it's architecture and the whole vibe of the place is what you'd expect in and industrial city. Bunch of stone, kinda dark and smogy (or in this case snowy) and an open poor quarter.

actually, now that i think about it, and with that example
Markarth would have been a much better choice.
he should have done Markarth.
i've always seen it as Solitude being the capital [sp]Yes it is, filthy stormcloak scum.[/sp]
that it's all about nobility and wealth.
Whiterun, the trading centre is about culture and ideals.
Falkreath is linked heavily with nature. [sp]Which is probably why a lot of the werewolf missions happen in that hold[/sp]
Markarth is about technology and science
winterhold is magic obviously
ETC.

And in addition to all the Dwemer ruins, Markarth also has the whole [sp]slave-labor mining operation[/sp] which could tie into the industrialization pretty easily.

The forest of Falkreath...
Markarth would work and would definitely be the best choice if you're trying to actually explain the industrialization, but like I said, I don't think this mod is. Pretty sure it's just an aesthetics thing, and in that regard Windhelm was definitely the right choice.
Markarth, with it's slave mines, ore-based industry and Dwemer architecture seems like it would fit the bill
Anyway, some nice TES art:

Meh. Well, to each their own. But for me it's a waste of effort if it doesn't even try to tie in to the existing game world. Unless it were the basis for a total conversion, that is. Then all bets are off.
I don't disagree with you, I wouldn't use the mod, but I can definitely see what the creator was going for.

Thanks! Now I just need to figure out how to install it properly. I downloaded a pre-made package with the game "installed" that totally didn't work and it appears this is how they set up the launch
[autoexec]

which totally does not work with the way you set it up, so I'm gonna go ahead and try setting it up properly the way it's described on the uesp I guess

Also, thank you to those of you who posted about the Mediterranean-style Oblivion flora overhaul; I think I'm finally going to give that game another shot.
Fuck Valhok's Tomb. Those platform puzzles are such bullshit.

for me, i was running without vsync, which caused all sorts of bullshit collision issues. i couldn't stand on or walk across a platform for more than half a second without spasming all over the room and dying
tcl'd through that entire chamber giving no fucks
Is there some kind of Oblivion mod list like there's STEP for Skyrim?

rare footage of lydia looking like something and not like an inanimated mannequin that is sworn to carry all of your burdens

I don't know, I think that's the "I'm sworn to carry your burdens..." pose.

still, it's telling when an artist manages to draw a character with more personality than its original creator could make with animation and dialogue

Score, battlespire in (mostly) working order. There's one odd thing in the config - scale is set to "false" which is an invalid parameter but I'm guessing it meant none? Either way it's on to trying to set up battlespire for multiplayer now
I wonder what Michael Kirkbride's treatment of Home Alone was like when Bethesda Studios worked on the NES adaptation of that.
I feel so tainted. I read through this thread and decided to download as many of those loverslab mods as possible and play with enhanced difficulty mod. My character has been repeatedly raped by every kind of creature and enemy and has given birth so many times. It was funny the first few times now I just don't think I can keep going, I don't even want to see what else will happen.
Does anyone have a list of some really good mods and a list of some of the worst mods? I would really like to try a play through with some enhancement mods and a secondary play through that is just full of terrible mods(though I may have already done this).

You shouldn't expect the wank-material of wierdos to be of high quality.

I say!
My wank-material is of much higher quality!

Comparing a still image to an animated interactive character is kind of a bullshit comparison, they're two completely different mediums
Not saying you're not right since everyone knows skyrim's characters perfectly display the emotions of a cardboard cutout
I wish the Nexus or Workshop had a specific section for silly mods, "Goofy As Shit" or something. I love me some nonsensical mods, but it's a pain in the ass to find them most of the time.
On that note, does anyone know some silly mods to use that aren't very well-known? They don't have to be good ones mind you, just goofy. I'm already using the well-known Macho Dragons mod, a mod that gives chickens the same treatment, one that turns all wild animals into Nazeem, and several others.
What the hell's with TESO's dragonknights and templars. As if they fit the lore at all.
Would make more sense, and be far more fitting, if players simply picked a character backround that gave them a starting bonus.
Furthermore the race specific trees... Are they realy race specific? If a high elf can be the dragonborn, what's to stop a nord from taking up ancestor worship or hist sap? Not saying that nord get's immediate access to every skill tree... but it's possible for him/her to eventually learn the secrets of another race, right? Tes is a series in which the player can learn pretty much everything after all.
Dunmer- Grandmother magic
Khajiit- Stoned-cat kung-fu
Redguard- sword magic.
Nord- Yodelling and yelling magic
Orc- Dancing and yelling magic
Argonian-Tree licker magic
bosmer- TellingNearbyBirdsToPluckOutTheEyesOfYourEnemy Magic
Altmer- Facist Walking magic
The innate race will be better with their own magic of course, but none of them realy seems like the kinda stuff that'd be totaly exclusive.

In the advanced search section of the nexus they have a 'humor' tag that you can filter for.
Fuck Valhok's Tomb. Those platform puzzles are such bullshit.
They weren't very hard. Only problem I had was that the other guy keept running towards the wrong way whenever i finished a section, forcing me to drop off to lead him back up.
