I probably would if not for the fact that you can't equip a sword, shield, and spell at the same time.
You can only really go full-on mage or full-on warrior.
There's no middle ground.
Even worse, you can't equip two shields together either.
Why are all high elves snobby cunts?
Lack of spell making aside, I found the magic combat much more fluid
Well yeah it's more fluid which is great but now you can't create you're own spells and they can't mess up on you if you're a low level. The only people who would prefer Skyrim's magic over the other games are those who haven't gone full mage or just want to throw a quick fireball or two. That reminds me, has anyone made a mod that improves the magic system in Skyrime to have elements from Morrowind and Oblivion?
I had a question that perhaps someone here could answer. I prefer my Elder Scrolls with a controller (X360 controller to be exact) but sadly Oblivion does not have native support and Xpadder and such just don't feel right. Would it be possible to open the 360 version of the game and extract a file containing the controller support?

I had the most fun in Morrowind and Oblivion creating spells, it's where all my money went to. The lack of even a basic spell creator ruined Magic for me in Skyrim -- so much wasted potential with the new combat systems. Here's to hoping they wise up for the next one.

I think they were trying to avoid the thing from Oblivion where non-mage characters could always benefit from having a spell equipped, while mages didn't get much in terms of hand equipment that they could use to supplement spells.

Man what the fuck wer ethey thinking weith the armor system in olbivion
Like seriously, you can just enchant a piece of clothing with the first shield enchantment you get from a sigil stone and BAM, you have a piece of armor that doesn't require skill, doesn't slow you down and doesn't degrade in quality.
Found a robe with 10% shielding, my dark brotherhood armor was in shite condition (couldnt repair it either) and this fucking robe gave more armor protection. Why did I even bother picking an armor skill at all?

Installed UL? I've seen a few miniature Table Mountains around the Niben delta as well, for the oddest reasons - either it's just down to a displeasing lack of thoroughness, or odd mod-mod interaction - although I'm not entirely sure whether how that'd then come about.

Don't think so. However, I do play Oblivion with a wireless xbox 360 controller and Xpadder and once you get past the horrible Xpadder interface and configuration it's even better than the native Xbox control scheme. I've made a setup with 8 customs hotkeys, an autorun button (which is missing on the xbox), etc. The only downside is I haven't managed to figure out how to walk and run by varying pressure on the thumbstick (instead of toggling autorun).
Skyrims magic combat? Much better.
The whole mechanic not so much though. Spells are basically weapons that use magic, and nothing more.
It's a shame they took out spell creation, they could have expanded on the visual elements of it to make it awesome, like having you choose from a bunch of different visual effects for whatever type of spell you were making and let you combine different ones to make unique looking spells.
Ok I think I figured out that my landscape problem is due to load order. Now I just need to fix it, which will take forever.

Fitting name you've got there for that topic.
Most magic schools are pretty useless now because most of their spells were removed except for the Destruction School.
The only things I like about the magic in Skyrim are the effects and how spells are cast.
[editline]adfs[/editline]
Now it's just crashing again.
FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Not to mention many of the spells are useless.
Lighting magic looks awesome as hell but it does less damage than fire (I think) and costs more magicka to use because it also drains magicka. Well, most enemies have more magicka than you do so you will run out long before you actually drain theirs.
Frost magic is a total joke because 3/4 of Skyrim is immune to frost. Seriously, the list of things that reist frost in Skyrim is huge. It is a substantial chunk of the bestiary and most NPC's are nords...
Everything in Illusion except Invisibility and Frenzy is useless. Restoration is only good for healing, and even then you get so many healing potions in this game it's hardly praise-worthy. Alteration is only good for mage armor and Paralyze. Conjuration is useful for a short while then your enemies will quickly out-perform your summoned Daedra. The thralls are nice but they are not exactly useful come the time you actually get them.
Frost Whirwinds are OP though, they kill most things pretty quick. Just change to fireball for frost resistant things.
I did like spellcrafting, though. I mean if your favorite spell is useless, make a new one with more power!
I haven't played Skyrim for about 4 months. Can anyone recommend some new cool mods that have been released recently around ~5 months. Any kind of mods, let it be armor mods, cool quests, new areas or graphics.

These are what I recommend to install for purely visual changes.

Even the male model for the Mandu armour mod is facepalming

I'd be willing to believe an Altmer general/noble/official of some sort would wear armor like that. It looks like JRPG'd Snow Elf armor. The female one though...eh. I don't like it much.
It just doesn't fit Skyrim at ALL and is reason enough for me not to download it. Not lore-friendly? Fack off.
