Yeah but once I go and get those ones they're gone for what feels like ages.
The thing of it is, it sacrifices being an Elder Scrolls game to be an MMO.
The MMO "half" of the game is clearly the predominant.
If MMOs are your favorite type of game, taking precedent over your love for The Elder Scrolls series, you'll probably like it.
If you like MMOs and haven't played any other Elder Scrolls game, I'm almost certain you'll love it.
It plays well for what it is, and I honestly suspect that the main audience of the game is going to be people who haven't played The Elder Scrolls before, or people who boarded the ship with Skyrim.
If you like The Elder Scrolls series more then you like the MMO formula, you probably won't like it.
It doesn't feel like an Elder Scrolls game. It doesn't play like one, and it really doesn't have anywhere near the depth of one.
I don't agree. It's possible to like both TES games and MMOs, and although it has to sacrifice some aspects of a traditional TES game to be an MMO I feel like the remaining aspects of the series are enough to still qualify it as a TES game. That being said, I don't think they handled the TES aspects of the game nearly as well as they could have. They definitely abandoned way more than the necessary amount of TES aspects in the process of making it an MMO and I hope in time that changes, but either way I'm enjoying it as it is.
I think the notion that it's "liek skyram not deep enuff 4mi" is garbage anyways, I got my start with TES games with morrowind and I enjoy some of the older games like battlespire but I still like ESO.

I said if you like MMOs more than the elder scrolls, you'll probably like it, but if you prefer The Elder Scrolls over the MMO formula, it's likely that you won't.
Never did I say you can't like both MMOs and The Elder Scrolls.
It sacrifices almost everything that makes The Elder Scrolls what it is other than some hamfisted lore and the setting/characters.
I'm talking about the games themselves here, not necessarily the lore.
The gameplay of TES:O is literally nothing like The Elder Scrolls games.
The freedom and subtleties that are natural to the series are nonexistant in the MMO.
You can't choose to be the bad guy, you can't really roleplay a character with a specific set of quirks, you can't collect things like clutter objects and the like (which is a staple of the series that many people often overlook) because they just don't exist, and there is basically no world interaction to be seen.
Also I wasn't bashing on Skyrim either, I simply meant that someone who has only played the most recent installment is likely to be someone who would think that TES:O is a good idea.
I've got easily 600 or so hours in vanilla console Skyrim alone.

You can make some pretty dubious decisions in ESO, you can loot random stuff from buckets and sacks, you gain experience in skills by using them (sort of), etc. There's plenty of TES character still in the game although they could have done it better they didn't do a terrible job. I do like TES way more than MMOs but I'm still enjoying it.

to hell with that, they should have made it play just like an elder scrolls game but with internet.
and more npcs to actually fill in cities.
So is there any good robe mods around? Ones that add new robes?
Because the robes in Skyrim bug the shit out of me.
There are like, three kinds of robes in Skyrim; a robe, a shitty bathrobe, and the Archmage robes, and the first two just get palette swapped for all the upgrades.
Considering the wild variety in armors that the warriors get, what the fuck is this
I asked my little brother for his input (in regards to TESO), whom mind you is all about: swag, 360 no scoping, call of duty, and skyrim, thinks TESO is shit.
He's 14.

Immersive Armors includes a couple sets of partially armored mage robes, as well as the multicolor Tribunal robe sets that looks really nice in my opinion
The mass stress event is this weekend. Apparently there is beta keys on Curse.com

That is the base issue with the game. Elder Scrolls and MMO just don't mix well. They can't, they won't, and really they shouldn't.
To say what I've said a thousand times since the first beta. It's a good MMO, and an awful Elder Scrolls game all mixed into one.
I have a friend who is an elderscrolls fan but predominantly big into MMO's (he has literally bought and played almost every single one that has ever come out) and he thinks ESO is terrible, not even from a lore standpoint.
I can't remember his reasons why however.
I wish merchants gold and items were on their person. It's stupid how I can kill them and suddenly they have no items.
So, is ESO worth getting? I'm getting mixed reactions in here and can't determine whether or not the majority likes the game or is terribly dissapointed with it.
I have no problem ignoring that it's a TES game but judging solely on gameplay and features, is it fun or good?
What I would like to know about ESO is, I'm getting into the beta, will i still have to buy the 59$ game, or will I just be able to buy the monthly fee to play the game once its out... if anyone can enlighten me plz inbox me. Thanks.
I snip just for you ~

Just because you're in the beta doesn't mean you're given full access to the game. Of course you're going to have to buy it.

Skyrim Online is bullshit vaporware, all they're doing is sending positions and armor with ScriptDragon. None of them know how to reverse engineer.

Aren't you doing an multiplayer Skyrim mod?
Aren't you doing an multiplayer Skyrim mod?
Yes. I occasionally remember to work on it, do so, then fall asleep and wake up the next day with no memory of it.
But my Tribes Ascend SDK eventually got released that way so maybe there's hope.
ok so on eso can you just play anytime or is it like "you can only play within jul 4-10"
[editline]5th February 2014[/editline]
because i'm really fucking excited
The ESO launcher is incredible, just look at that stunning download speed.

At this rate I'm not even sure if I will make it on time at 10th (the day on which the beta ends). It feels like something is trying to deter me from even trying this out.
It speeds up considerably after midnight CST.

it's a beta weekend
you can only play when it's the beta weekend, or unless you bought the actual game you can get i think a 5 day head start

Here's an honest critical opinion from someone who played all the content in daggerfall covenant in the last beta, I can't say for the other factions. For the record I'd say yes, I liked it, but you may not. You can decide for yourself based on the following:
Positive points:
-Although every quest in every game boils down to go somewhere and kill x/talk to y/bring z, etc. the voice acted quests with their own short stories are a lot more interesting than standard MMO fare
-The decision making involved in some of the quests adds a lot to this - the
-The combat is way above average but not as good as the best action-oriented MMOs
-There is first person for those that want to stick more to a standard TES style
-Although they forced classes, there's still a decent amount of freedom. For example - even a rogue can be a healer because you can use healing staffs and your proficiency in them will improve with use rather than based on your class. Any class can use any armor proficiency as well
-The crafting is pretty simple but there's a lot of neat stuff you can do, like make sets of heavy armor that makes you gain heavy armor proficiency faster.
-The one raid I played was pretty fun and the people I played with were for the most part friendly and it was a good time overall
-There's a system of "sky shards" that give you what is essentially a perk point like in skyrim when you find 3 scattered across the landscapes to encourage exploration
-At no point in the beta did I need to grind to progress, this might change later but the advancement was highly exploration and quest based
Negative points:
-There's a LOT of bugs still, it -is- a beta but it's pretty close to release. Most of the bugs could be fixed by relogging a few times though
-Pre-order shenanigens, etc. Probably heard about this
-The first person can sometimes be a bit hard to use when there's enemies all over the place, I ended up using 3rd person in an instance a few times
-There are some small and some large butcherings of the lore, though I didn't encounter any personally the high elf city is a pretty good example of a really nasty one
-The races are split up into 3 factions so if you play with your friends from outside the game there might be some conflict over which factions you wanna play on (ie, your friend wants to play dark elf, you want to play breton, they're on seperate factions).
-You don't know what the rewards are based on the moral decisions you'll have to make. This might be a positive point for some people but it can be kinda annoying finding out if you did something dickish you got a reward that was more useful for you. I imagine this will become less of a problem when the quests appear on UESP or something
-It's coming out as a new MMO so it's naturally going to be pretty low on content like every MMO in history at launch
Yes. I occasionally remember to work on it, do so, then fall asleep and wake up the next day with no memory of it.

Well then, Tell me when ever you get that mutiplayer mod done then, I'm dying to play Skyrim co-op.
points about ESO
You forgot
-They fucked the lore so hard, it should of been a different universe all together.
Our best chance for really solid co-op in a TES game is probably OpenMW at this point. They're making fantastic progress and either them (it's in their possible future goals) or a third party could use the open source nature to implement multiplayer.

Nope, that was indeed in the cons. You missed it:

Here's a fresh key for the TESO beta since I've lost interest in it. Should work since I haven't made an account.

Does anyone know if there's a list of all the gods that have died in one way or another? The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Lorkhan, Almalexia, and Sotha Sil (Did Vivec actually die? He still had CHIM).
I'm sure there's a few more, though.
