Personally i love simple things like these armour sets
I KNOW they are just edited vanilla armour but they all seem plausible
and they all look good, it's something i could imagine a poor bandit wearing

Rusty, broken mis-matching armour is exactly what i would expect a bunch of bandits living in a cave to be wearing.

Is the male they've used to model really wide? Like the weight slider is completely on the right? Or is this armour really just quite wide?
Oh man I've been waiting for Morrowind to go on sale for months and it finally happened.
First time playing this. Any good mods I should put in there before I begin? Or should I just make a clean first play-through?
People are going to say play through clean but I think thats dumb, there are tons of essential and very good improvement mods to morrowind that make it much better without ruining the feel of the game.
MGE is a must, maybe even Morrowind Overhaul (personally I can't stand that it adds a bunch of trees everywhere but I think it might be optional).
FOr the rest there honestly is too much to list out, just check out Telephoro's list o mods at http://www.mwmythicmods.com for the essentials, I'd mostly focus on the game fixes/improvements section.
A texture/visual pack might be good too (MW overhaul includes this).
Is uGridsToLoad=7 worth it? It seems to cause a lot of problems for me for some reason, and I used to be able to run the game fine with this setting until relatively recently.
uGrids at 7 uses much more VRam compare to uGrids 5, so that may be the issue.
I just bought the GOTY edition of MW, although I've played it before.
My question is, do people really think that MGSO makes the game as good as Skyrim? Because I've played with it, and it just doesn't. It looks better than vanilla, but nowhere near as good as Skyrim. You can tell that all that's been changed is the textures and the lighting, making the entire effect really weird.
I'm not sure I prefer vanilla, mind.

Also the animations are awful. If I could change anything about Morrowind, it would be the animations. I can't get immersed in a world where everyone looks like they just shit themselves.
how do you mage dudes cope with having too many spells to use and not enough buttons for quick selecting favourites? Everytime I try to make a mage character i get turned away because of that
You can add any item (including spells/shouts) to your quick select menu (D-pad for xbox).
uGrids at 7 uses much more VRam compare to uGrids 5, so that may be the issue.
My card has 3 gb of Vram, is there a way to make skyrim able to use all of it or is there not?
It will only use as much as necessary. You could easily fill that up by using all the Ultra texture packs.
why are redguards the designated black guys of tamriel
why are redguards the designated black guys of tamriel
Because they just are. They've always looked like black guys, so it just kinda happened.
Oh, don't sweat it - BethSoft's set things up so that when they're tired of being ethnically black they can act vaguely Arab as well.
There's 2 mods for Morrowind, one stops the dark brotherhood from attacking you until you're actually famous, the second makes it so not every single person is talking about Solstheim. Both of those things were added by the DLC, and basically assumed you already beat the main game, the mods makes them trigger at better times.
I always kicked the assassins butt when he first came after a new game. It can be tricky, but it's possible. The armor won't give you much anyway since you more than likely suck at light armor, although I suppose it still is a slight easier-maker.
Is uGridsToLoad=7 worth it? It seems to cause a lot of problems for me for some reason, and I used to be able to run the game fine with this setting until relatively recently.
For skyrim no
uGrids higher than 5 causes massive memory issues (and thus, crashes) if you are doing any sort of modding, things that run on scripts, additional creature spawns, more textures being loaded into vram, etc...
I'm sure its fine though on pure vanilla where skyrim isn't even that intensive on the engine in the first place.
Is there any way to shut down Serana? I'm so tired of her repeating shit like "Yes? What did you need?"

none of the ugrids tweaks are worth it because they will at some point break the game - install some LOD mods, it'll look slightly worse in the middle distance but it'll actually be playable

makes the game as good? it's a pure graphics overhaul, it doesn't make the game objectively 'better'. it does make the game look better though, but at its core it's still morrowind - in screenshots this isn't as obvious but in videos and when you're actually playing it it's unmistakeable, installing MGSO doesn't mean you escape having to adapt to morrowind's, uh, eclectic gameplay

So THIS is why after I play the game for while, at a random point, I'll get infinite loading screens no matter what save I pick? Well.

are you using the ugrids tweaks? i've had infinite loading screens that were caused by other factors but I've never bothered with ugrids because the game's just not designed to handle it and it increases the probability of you making your install unplayable - not really worth it for a visual tweak that costs shitloads of performance

My bad, I must've missed out the word look. My point was that people hail MGSO as making MW look fantastic, when really it's nothing but vanilla MW with high res textures and better lighting.
The models seem basically the same, and it's very jarring for me to be walking around a game world that LOOKS like its from an old game, but has the effects of a newer title.
MW's gameplay's fine. No issues there.

Yep, I'd always bump it to 7, per the nvidia tweak guide. I would always get infinite loading screens at some point, but ONLY on saves that were saved in an exterior area. I could load a save that was in an interior location just fine - but then using the door to go outside would also cause an infinite loading screen. Every single save (I keep all of them) would be affected this way. I have no choice but to start a new game, which works just fine - or do a clean install.
I also heard that the issue could be caused by orphaned scripts from mods, but I can't think that to be the issue since I'm using the latest version of SKSE which cleans things up every time you load plus I use TES5 Edit to clean up dirty edits upon first activation of mods with scripts.
I think I'll try leaving the .ini alone as far as any LOD tweaks of any kind and see how it goes.

I'm a bit late to the magic party, but who didn't use each hand to pretend they were playing maracas with healing magic in Skyrim?
It was fun trying to apply flames to enemies maraca-style too.

the script issue is definitely more likely and I think I've had that issue before, but I definitely wouldn't recommend fucking with ugrids unless you're on a screenshot playthrough, i've no idea why the nvidia tweak guide would recommend it
Shame theirs no wind magic, I have to use Shouts for that when playing my nature-loving, Skaal-loving warrior who dabbles heavily in magic.

If it is a script thing, I wish I could figure out which mod (or combination thereof) was causing it. Sometimes it takes hours and hours of a playthrough for it to happen, so testing is kind of a bitch.
Is it bad that I've been feeling more immersed in Oblivion than Skyrim?
No, it's fine if you feel Irish.
Well this helped removed potatoes.

There's literally no reason not to install it and a big list of reasons to install it
This is just what I was looking for. At least, it seems like it is. I'll take a look at what exactly it changes.
HUGE IMAGES AHEAD - sorry
From r/morrowind (and in turn from Scamp's Grotto), HubmaN toots his own horn vicariously for Morrowind's province mods yet again - the Reach's exteriors roll on, and I suppose something about the mainland Morrowind-Skyrim interface should be coming out soon as well:
