There's Faction: Pit Fighter. Not sure I can actually call that a questing mod...
It's not a quest mod, but it's fun to rise through the various arena ranks and it gives you a good reason to travel to Windhelm other than for Dragonborn. Don't go in expecting anything as epic as the Oblivion colosseum though.
Umm, holy shit.
This is like, the mod I was thinking about attempting to make if I ever decided to learn the creation kit.
There's the mod that takes you to Elsweyr for Skyrim. Haven't played it but heard good stories about, might be a good quest mod

It's a wonderful mod if you don't mind your game utterly breaking

This looks pretty cool
eh, i was thinking the akavir would be more chinese. Besides, tiger people, snake people, monkeys and snow demons (which are probably yeti with horns or something) definitely Chinese/ mainland asia.
I also remember a small snippet in morrowind that said orcish armour (which was very samurai) was based on (high) elven design.
anyway. The high elves seriously would be closer to feudal Japan in culture than any other real world culture.
- xenophobic
- believe in a class system
- tie their hair up
- probably drink a lot of tea.
- care a lot about their posture. proud and culture obsessed
- lands are made up of lots of islands. could possibly be similar to japan in terms of geography. this would also influence diet. (more fish)
- the physical appearance of the altmer goes amazingly well with traditional japanese attire (especially the men) and rather poorly with more western clothing. The dunmer could possibly pull of such a style, but don't need to.
- Land of the rising sun/ Summerset isles
- if you ask yourself 'what kind of castles do the altmer live in' you probably think of something aylied or something asian.
- The 'samurai' type weapons (yari, naginata, strange bows,katana... and bladed fans too) are refined and fit the altmer far more than those disgusting oversized 'elven' weapons seen in skyrim. (ninja/peasant weapons like throwing stars, sickle and chain, clubs and whatnot don't realy fit altmer at all )
- It's easy to imagine altmer taking part in honourable duels, much like the samurai do.
well, there's a shortlist.
If anything Dunmer are this, Dunmer are pretty much exactly that but they actually have katatas and shit in Morrowind.

Everyone knows that the Akavir are the feudal japan race. Other races simply borrow some aesthetical shit. By your logic the Orcs are also japan-inspired because orcish armor in MW is basically samurai armor.

No race in TES is an exact 1 to 1 ripoff of a real life nation, I was just saying by HIS logic Dunmer fit better then altmer.
the elves are both generic fantasy elves.
there's alot of influences thrown in there.

well the imperials basically are the romans
and nords are well
nordic
i played that a while ago, while it had a lot of custom content it wasn't anything mindblowing and was quite short
That mod's really weird, despite just adding new areas it seems to have an alarming amount of incompatibility with other mods
My god, this is the best frost daedra ever

Yes! Morrowind and I have officially clicked and we are now dating :)
I'm a wood elf thief focusing pretty much entirely on sneak/security/speechcraft/marksmanship/acrobatics/agility/light armour and it's so fun! Some stupid dark brotherhood guy tried killing me and now I've got incredible armour :D
Not to mention I have pretty much stolen everyone's shit in Seyda neen, had to go to jail a few times but I think I have a high enough skill now
I hate it when I go off to do one quest and I get distracted and side tracked into doing 10 others.
I hate it when I go off to do one quest and I get distracted and side tracked into doing 10 others.
That's actually quite fun, if you are not playing Skyrim.
fucking dragonborn
[sp]spend the whole dlc bulking up to kill Miraak and Hermaus just pops in and tentacle rapes him anyway.[/sp]
Imperials in Oblivion do this too, despite being based off of Romans. Then again, Imperials in Oblivion were a lot closer to ye olde generic medieval fantasy (like Daggerfall) than they are in Morrowind or Skyrim. The nobility in Oblivion were pretty much something you'd see in typical fantasy settings.
I really wished there had been a suit or two of old legion armor in Skyrim. The helmets looked so badass.

You mean the heavy imperial set?

This is what I've deciphered
Altmer - Greeks (paragons of science and philosophy, past resentful enemy of the empire, the empire borrowed much altmer technology, science and architecture into its own culture, the Ayleid architecture and armor looks hella greek)
Imperials - Roman (this is obvious)
Nords - Norsemen/Scot (Obvious viking/barbarian appeal, mix of scandinavian, scottish and irish voice acting throughout the games, preference for blue facepaints, claymores and battle axes, lots of clans in the nord culture)
Bretons - Breton (says it right in the name. supposed to be sort of an insular celtic people. lots of french, breton and irish character names throughout all the games)
Redguard - Moorish/North African (affinity for corsair-style piracy, arabic armor and weapon designs, black/brown skin, obviously middle-eastern style architecture, etc)
Dark Elves - Indian [sp](native americans are NOT indians)[/sp] (flamboyant and alien armor and weapon designs, prone to using huge animals for transportation, interesting ritual face decoration and scarring, a religion with their own unique pantheon of gods and daedra)
Wood Elves - Not sure about this one. Could be old Lithuanian or something, people living in forests, strange religion and culture, great archers, etc. Likely just based on lothlorien/murkwood elves from LOTR though
Khajiits/Argonians - Who the hell knows
Orcs - Generic warrior race. The armor in morrowind was Japanese, the armor in oblivion was Rus/Viking styled, and the armor in skyrim was Mongolian. All quite eastern styled in general.
On top of that a lot of them have Akaviri influence, which is Japanese in style. Also while some my or may not be influenced by existing cultures, each on has their own spin put on it, and they do change styles every TES game.

Khajiits = desert nomads/gypsies
Argonians, we haven't really seen a lot of their culture as of yet, since they've only been very minor characters in all the ES series.
FX Only ENB using SkyRealism ENB as the base.
SkyGradientDay was slightly increased to compensate for the darkening it does when DisableWrongSkyMath is enabled. All effects (Except Rain) are enabled, so if you can't run with all effects, turn them off first in the ini before playing.
ENB version 0.186 included.

Wood Elves could probably fit with Native Americans: lived in forests, respected animals, and were great archers.

Argonians are heavily based on pre-colonist South American cultures such as the Aztecs and the Incas. This is further backed by their faction symbol in The Elder Scrolls Online.

Yeah. This question again:
What are the obligatory visual/ game fixing mods for Oblivion? I'm a first timer.
Play the game Vanilla first :v:
Play the game Vanilla first :v:
Why, he asked for visuals and fixes, who wouldn't rather have a better looking less buggy game.
I guess visuals and bug fixes are fine but I really think a game should be experienced the way it was made the first time unless it's unplayable or really bad, but I guess that makes me sound stupid :v:

I'd say altmers are more like a fusion between greek and chinese
A lot of their clothing style, weapons, and some of their architecture seems like its much more asian influenced than greek.
I mean look at this:

Orcs are obviously mongolian inspired, especially considering orc strongholds and stuff (they aren't permanent homes by any sense of the imagination).
wait guys.... so if all races are inspired by past civilizations.. that would mean [sp]nords are scandinavians/vikings?[/sp]
oh my god no way
[editline]2nd July 2013[/editline]
seriously though what would bretons be? brits?
In a way, certain Orc Strongholds could become a somewhat-permanent home.
For example, Narzulbur has access to a very large amount of ebony ore veins. As Bloodmoon proved, Ebony is a very expensive commodity.
The Orcs there could make a very decent home for themselves off of it.

Bretons are French, I think. This is purely on naming style and the fact that Breton was the name of the language in Brittany, France.
