Xenoblade Chronicles X - Games

Oh boy... The story is going to be as godlike as it's predecessors, isn't it?

Well it's MonolithSoft, the same folks that brought us Xenogears and Xenosaga, so we can probably expect a big ol' story. Hopefully it'll also be a bit better in terms of side content, since while Xenoblade Chronicles had some good story in the sidequests, gameplay-wise many of them were a bit early World of Warcraft, as in "Kill X Dinobeasts" or "Find X Bitter Kiwis and X Ice Cabbages". Given that the main thing so far involves exploring the surface of an alien planet, hopefully there will be a fair share of investigations and exploration-based quests to offset the grindish nature of quests that involve killing monsters and gathering rhubarb.

Not a big fan of RPGs/JRPGs but this might get me back into it. Still have a few months to think about it. Nintendo is teaching me money saving on the fly. I already have money saved up for Splatoon and Zelda U (this one is sealed and hidden in a letter until next year). Or maybe they taught me how to spend it quickly...

I still need to save up dolla for a Wii U for when this is released in Europe. Actually I do have a ton of stuff saved up, I'm just waiting to grab a bunch of games with it. I know, first world problems, right?

Hm, no EU direct announcement makes me thing that we may get a different localisation, maybe by the people who did the first game. Wouldn't surprise me. Or maybe we're just getting the game later.

No new information compared to the Japanese trailers that have been released before, no release dates, no english voice acting. Basically, this was just for the people that didn't keep up with the Japanese news. In other words, it didn't need a Direct. At least we got to see live gameplay, but still disappointing.

Is it just me or do you think they called them Skells here so to sound more badass to western audiences?

I'll still call them Dolls. You know what, "Shells" would have been a better name. Would have fit quite well with the concept of Dolls, being a thing that was given a personality or motion by the owner. Shells could have been a nice translation. I'm not fan of the name but I'll get over it.

Hah, I really don't know how to get my voice to the 12/13 year old/mid teens sounding high pitchedness I hear all the time in JRPG dubs.

Just found out my friends planning on importing the game so looks like I'll be trying the japanese version out. I don't plan on spoiling the entire thing for myself but would anyone care if I left a first impressions thing next week?

Apparently a Chinese streamer got the game early, and is already playing it right now. I guess it's time to abandon the Internet for the next few months to avoid spoilers.

They probably didn't want to go with the now cliche'd name of Exos. But with that, you can see where "Skell" came from. exoSKELeton.

I was afraid that the overworld in X was gonna be a bit barren, but I've been watching some streams and what I saw really impressed me. Now the wait will be even harder.
