I just got my Skell License, but god it felt like it took forever. Hunting down the items in Proficiency Exam 5 felt like a huge hassle, but I'm sure I'm going to love this thing.
Anyone got any recommendations for good weapons to equip on a Skell?
(End game spoilers) Goddamn whats with [sp]Prog Ares's[/sp] invincibility BS, It's a little silly when it seems to be almost all the time .
Out of curiosity, how many players here fell for the Go-Rha gotcha? It's a big favorite :v:
Is that the [sp]big mech sitting in the bottom of that one area?[/sp] If so, nope, knew it was a mob as soon as I saw it, mobs have a distinct "brightness" to them.
Finally going for that Skell license! Ch6 boss was a pain, it was three shotting me, and needed at least 100+ shots to take down Lin.
Finally got my Skell after 34 hours, I'm loving this game so much.

the skell is so much cooler than i thought it would be.
this game is great. a bit overwhelming with all the systems but it's super fun also here is my character, pink thunder

I beat the game.
[sp]"This game is never over"[/sp] had me fucking flabbergasted. Holy shit. That everything, that final boss, that fucking moment where I cheesed overdrive healing to get through every round and died on the very last one with a SLITHER of health left on the final boss, and a single teammate KILLED IT BEFORE I HAD TO RESPAWN, THEREBY SAVING THE ENTIRE THING AND BEATING THE BOSS. Holy fuck. This is a damn good game.
So how do you get the flight module? I just got to chapter 9

After chapter 9 the game will inform you on how to get it.

Sweet thanks!
Got my skell!
The only hard part was the 5th challenge, as there was an item I had to go farm way out in Oblivia for, otherwise some of them auto-completed for me when I took the skell exam quest.
So, um...
YAY.
There's actually a great spot to farm those beagflea squash.
Near the Southern Shore Fast Travel, 315 near the bottom left on map, is a hidden cave at the bottom of a cliff which has like 50 of those Item Orbs.
Squashes spawn in caves, and that secret area coubts towards that.
So about that ending/after credits scene.... Oh boy I cant wait to see where this series goes.

Backwards, probably. Takahashi already said Xenoblade 3 will be more like the first one, which can only mean one thing: That we're going back to XBC's wide corridors instead of open world.
X seems to actually be rather hated in Japan, akin to western perception of FF13. And without western sales being SIGNIFICANTLY higher than Japanese sales (Resident Evil... Metal Gear, Final Fantasy), Monolith is a slave to Japanese demands.
Calling Xenoblade Chronicles world "wide corridors" makes me think you never played it to be honest.

It's not just a sandbox like X but there's literally nothing Corridor like about it
"I had forgotten that I pre-ordered it and now I have not a single moment to play such a huge game so here, Early Merry Christmas." ~Friend of mine.
Well, now I'm in the club! I can't go spoiling myself anymore! Then again, it wasn't much besides character creation and first steps until NLA's gates.

That's true for a majority of the game, but not the last bits. The game closes up rapidly once you hit the halfway point.

Wouldn't even say that, it's more layered in Mechonis then Bionis, there's a lot of exploring vertically instead of the usual gaur plains horizon.
Regardless though I'm all for a return to 1's structure, as fun as Skells are to mess around in the motivation to continue the story like many other sandbox games just isn't there and it feels like it's just spinning it's wheels 90% of the time.
Man, some of these sidequest placements in relation to chapters are pretty fucked.
Before I completed Chapter 5, I had a sidequest that started out with [sp]a woman asking about her how sex with her lover would work with their mimeosome bodies.[/sp] Like, what the hell?
So is the game worth it? I enjoyed the previous game.

Worth every damn penny, I am now up to 70 hours, 20 of which so far have been spent post story.
I'm gonna pick this up for Christmas, anything I should probably know in advance?

-Read the manual. It's time consuming but the game leaves a lot of shit unexplained and it's really important.
-The last half of the game doesn't have a difficulty spike but a difficulty sawblade. It gets downright unfair and the final boss is kinda poorly designed if you try to fight it fair.
-Read the manual
-Enemy range cones for spotting you are comically bad and directed ONLY to eyesight most of the time. Meaning you can come up on a aggressive enemy and give them a back rub and they won't even turn to look. Using this you can sneak into a lot of areas
-Raise your mechanical level to the limit asap
-Most quests affinity wise and all story quests require Lin and Elma, never remove them from your party unless you absolutely have to otherwise you'll fall behind.
-Read the Manual

Well... I already fucked up.
Also, how many chapters are there. I wanna gauge how much time it will take me to reach the end at my own pace. An single number in spoilers will suffice. I don't want to look on the web incase a chapter name spoils something.

There are [sp]12[/sp] chapters.
After chapter 6 you can get skells, after chapter 9 you can get the flight module.

Planting probes is tied to mechanical level so it's super important, and you can't get any of the super weapons for your skell without it being level 5 (though you have to wait till chapter 9 is over for that)
Aww man... I could have had a lvl.4 by now if I knew.
I'm slowly getting used to the game, diving into other menus. I'll have to read the manual in more detail from now on. Didn't know they explain stuff better in it. I usually read them but I just dove in the game without much thinking.
And getting lost in the vast landscapes. Love it.
I finally heard the full overdrive song now that I can kinda grasp overdrive (it was a oops button push in the Japanese version for me :v:)
Man the german is so fucking bad but the song is super good at pumping me up, especially now that I can keep it rolling for the entire duration.
Finally got my Skell!
Only for it to get wrecked in the first 45 mins by a random lv.65 that was running around and decided to poke my new toy during a mission battle.
That's really the only thing that bugs me in this game. Any monster can join in at any time or if it gets caught in Lin's Trash Talk art radius. I already had so much trouble getting close to the bird boss in Mia's Agony mission because his aggro range would start a fight near monsters with 15 levels over mine.
Speaking of which, poor Mia getting in trouble all the time. I have yet to find her in Sylvalum for more of her cute shenanigans.
Warning you now that Mia's a post game thing, so don't worry if you can't find her right away. Hell for her to show up in Cauldros you need a 65% survey rate.
