i've got two chapters left and i'm starting to lose interest
the gameplay is so much better in this one than the first, but the first had MUCH more story. there is barely any plot at all compared to the first. in xenoblade 1 there was always twists and turns and i felt like i was a lot more engaged in the story while progressing through the game world. the main missions in xenoblade 2 are way too short. i spent like 10-15 minutes on mission 10 and it doesn't help that this short main plot window is spent on an incredibly bad edgy character having a tantrum.
i hope the story gets good enough in last two chapters that it warrants me having to do this stupid grind for an affinity heart with gwin

Cauldros specifically.

No, not a lot really happens until chapter 12 and chapter 12 is legit poorly designed. This is kinda what I was trying to warn people about earlier in the thread. There's some Takahashi twists but ultimately the game ends on a pretty huge cliffhanger that has a 90% chance to never be resolved due to him almost never finishing a story.
Serious warning about chapter 12 as you can make the game actually unwinnable. Read this before you start it. [sp]Congrats on making it to the final boss's chapter. Save your fucking game. Save often. When you get the arena where you must fight everything there's no turning back meaning that if your skell gets scrapped at any point before the end you cannot leave to restore it. This can lead you to fights you actually cannot win as you aren't allowed to leave as you respawn inside the arena. The only way to get out is to reset the game.
This mission is unfair and poorly designed, it's not elegant but the suggested way to beat it if you don't have a super weapon to just cheat to win with is to just leave your skells and let the boss kill you 3 times so you can lower the difficulty, then give it a shot with your robots- it'll still be hairy but at least it'll give you some kind of a chance.[/sp]
boy that makes me not want to finish the game now
i still got a lot out of it though and really enjoyed a huge majority of the game. it just doesn't have enough story to make me want to go through the extra grindy stuff to see the ending.
Spoilers: [sp]They never eat Tatsu[/sp]
Least favorite part of the game imo
(the lack of explaining anything is pretty awful though, this is a very gamey game. The story is non-existent in comparison.)

The best thing about the final boss is that he [sp]drains your Skell fuel, so you're forced to fight on foot. Best to just use an OP Overdrive build.[/sp]
You're better off saving before you start any chapter or affinity mission than saving afterwards and finding that it's too difficult.
I guess side quest spoilers or potential big spoilers:
[sp]Is there a way to actually get the Monado? Or is "The Sword of Legendaryness" all we get?[/sp]

That's all you get, the swords to busy being lin's hair clips
So I bought this game without much thought, not expecting much as my intention was to get a game to play when I'm in the lounge, but...
I've been playing non stop for the last few days now send help.
This game is way to much fun for some reason and I haven't even touched half of the features like multiplayer yet.
Got it for Christmas as I said and yeah, bunch of stuff just isn't explained well, but after getting the hang of stuff its a lot better. Having fun with it, looking forward to getting more involved with it and reaching the parts of the world I haven't yet.
I don't even play this game for the RPG elements, that just makes it more fun. I play it for the exploration, it's really top notch in this. All the different regions and all with differeing landscapes within and unexplored caves and whatnot, it's great. It's really keeping me satisfied while I wait for No Man's Sky.
i'm having a hella hard time finding where i'm supposed to place probes, i'm in the right hex but i don't see any "i'm right here you idiot" beacons no matter how much i run around

I've found that some of them are hidden underground, high into the sky or behind mountains.
Probes really push the boundaries of exploration.
I found one yesterday that I had trouble finding 2 days ago just because I kept turning right instead of left because of how my camera was always facing the huge monster I was trying to avoid.
I've found that some of them are hidden underground, high into the sky or behind mountains.
i'm guessing i need a skell to get really high up, so how do i get underground?
i'm guessing i need a skell to get really high up, so how do i get underground?
Wander around and look for caves and what not nearby (entrances may be in different hex locations I don't quite remember). From what I remember the probes aren't normally too deep down, just enough for the terrain to block the beam of I'm here.
i've been doing basically that for the past 2-3 hours
-snip i'm an idiot-

I'll just waste that money on joining the harriers, seems like a more fun faction anyways
[editline]28th December 2015[/editline]
It's not like i need 30,000 credits, anyways.
That moment when you realize that Alexa's VA is the same as the Mechromancer's from BL2, I knew she was my fav party member for a reason
When can I upgrade my class?
When can I upgrade my class?
once you hit rank 10 in whatever class you are, just go into party > class (i think thats it) and you can change it from there at any time
so I see a notification for "squad mission invite" and press - because I want to know what it is and now i'm stuck in a menu that I can't back out of.
[editline]29th December 2015[/editline]
Oh I guess the solution was to button mash my whole controller until it says "Unable to join. Squad Mission no longer available."
Can I change my squad type?
is there a medic character i can add as the 4th party member?
This game is really different and interesting. I've been enjoying it... but holy fuck, there is so much you have to just learn on your own. The game sometimes explains things later but it's often quite a while after it would have been good to know (like what exactly Soul Voices are and why they're one of the most important things in the game... and even then it's a poor explanation).
It reminds me of playing MH3U... fun as fuck but you're pretty much on your own as far as guidance/tutorials go.
i hate how chapter 5 requires that you be level 15 yet throws level 26 enemies at you

grinding to finish a story isn't fun
Gonna buy this tomorrow when I head back to Uni. Going to have to pick up an external hard-drive just to play it as well.
This game looks amazing and I want to play it but is it definitely worth the set back of buying a hard-drive in order to play it?
I'm surprised nobody is interested in watching streams of this on twitch. I've done 2 all-day streams in a row only to have maybe 3 people wander on my channel.

They stuck around long enough to say "hi" and not much else
Is there a difference between light/medium/heavy armor besides the defense rating? i can't find any mention of it online.
iirc, they all have inherent weaknesses to gravity damage depending on type, with Heavy armor being the most vulnerable.
And the lighter armors have more upgrade slots.
