Also lighter armour naturally has more evasion than heavier stuff. In fact a decked out evasion build has more survivability than a defence one.
the last chapter was really stupid. just 5 boss battles one after the other that are impossible to beat if you don't get out of yours skells and die 3 times to lower the difficulty first.
really disappointed in the end. gameplay is flawless but the story was so unsatisfying, characters were boring and forgettable (except for tatsu), twists weren't worth it, ending was a cliffhanger, etc. in xenoblade chronicles the story was an absolute blast to go through. just one big adventure with memorable characters that weren't awkwardly designed, satisfying linear progression through the world complete with twists and turns along the way.
what happened in X? how did it take a such a huge step forward in gameplay from it's predecessor yet have a story that's so much worse
I wish i could associate armor with a class so I can switch between play styles faster.

or at least save presets of armor loadouts so i don't have to do it piece by piece
X was apparently a test for HD development for Monolith Soft, and they changed the game to feature a customisable protagonist instead of a set one half way through development. I agree the story is lacking, but I'm glad they focused on making a game first and everything else 2nd. If they keep the mechanical stuff like soul voices/smells, keep the quirky sidequests (better than XBC's by a mile) and return to a more XBC style self-contained narrative, the next game should be absolutely fantastic
This is going to be a really unpopular opinion, but the shift towards multiplayer focus and massive expansion of basically everything XBC:X received in relation to XBC got me craving something resembling one of those modern "living world"/"mmo-ish" games like Warframe or Destiny but in Xenoblade flavor. :v:

Despite this, a better main questline narrative in the next game is definitely something I'd welcome as well.
I'm taking things really slow with this, and also focusing on getting several classes I like leveled up, but I'm really enjoying it. Decided I wanted to play around with a lightsaber, so I've been playing as a Blast Fencer and they're quite fun. Didn't like Enforcer a ton, but Blast Fencer is nice. May cap it then go straight in to Galactic Knight, even though I was wanting to do Winged Viper next originally.

Also, what does mastering a class's weapon actually do? In most games I'd assume it means you can use that class's weapons and abilities with any other class, but I'm not sure they'd do that in this case.
Got the game a week ago and I gotta say, it's okay. I mean the combat is really good but everything else is pretty meh. The sound, story, text (why is it so fucking small) and good god the tutorials are shit. I knew going in I shouldn't expect the story to be that great but c'mon, at least the original made itself bearable. Also, why is it there's like a 3 second pause between dialogues? It makes those mini cutscenes so long, I'm thinking of just skipping them all together. Of course a game should always be about gameplay but I really feel these other things are hampering my enjoyment, especially that song with the grunting. Seriously, who the hell thought that would be a good song.

I've grown to like the awful cheesy soundtrack personally but I wouldn't have reached 300 hours played if I couldn't,
I would also like to know the reason as to why there are no leveled areas. Maybe its just what I've come to expect after playing Dark Souls and FO4, but having high level creatures thrown literally everywhere, and mixed with low level creatures really doesn't make sense to me. I've died so many times because a teammate will aggro a high level creature while I'm in combat with a lower level creature.

Why doesn't it make sense? Some of the fauna have been there for years so it would be odd if there was just a flat "everything is a babbu in this whole region".
I mean hell in the "final" areas of the game there's still level 10-15 things wandering around

It makes sense for the game world sure, I'm just really not used to being handed enemies that I have no chance in defeating, its weird for me is what I mean.

It's so when you come back later and you CAN kill them it's that much more satisfying. The first game did that too. It's why they throw a level 80+ monkey tyrant at you at the beginning of the game right out of the east gate, taunting you with it's unkillability for 95% of the game.
I've done everything I need for my Skell license except this stupid gathering stuff. Like, is there anyone who wants to be a gatherer?
So I got my Skell license, threw a bunch of cool gear on my Skell, and then went out and literally stomped some indigens.
Also, I think I just ran in to a middle-aged, balding weeaboo who wants me to call him sensei. I don't know if I want him hanging around the 13 year old Asian girl too much.
Hmm, auto-merge is a lot smaller window than I recall.
He's not a weeb, he's a true Japanese spirit. He even has the xenophobia of the older generations downpat.
(quick advice for all side characters; they all improve with each affinity mission. Even the likes of Hideo "H.B" Bojima and Boze get better by the end.)
Also, the non-leveled level design means avoiding battle is as important as starting battle. I really like it. I've had some tense moments sneaking past enemies to find new locations and probe spots, and gotten through tough areas by selectively picking off enemies one by one even if they're way stronger than I am.
If you're tired of getting stomped though craft some Visual Cloak augments at the Arms Manufacturer terminals and put them in your armor (L's shop can put augment slots into any equipment if you don't have any) or play as Elma and abuse Shadowrunner (use Blood Sacrifice for TP, then Shadow Runner, then exit battle and run past foes who won't target you until the duration runs off).
Shit on Boze whenever you can, he actually loves it
Something I love is that L can use a Skell. Like, they talk about how precious a resource Skells are and they don't hand them out to just anybody, but they're willing to give one to L. I like L, I think he's cool. But I have to laugh at that.
[sp]Yes, this mysterious alien that just kinda showed up one day and lives in our marketplace, I'm sure he's good for it.[/sp]

I think you can use the abilities with other classes regardless, but yeah mastering the class allows you to use the weapons anywhere else.
Mastering allows you to use that class' weapon with any other class so you can make custom classes, like some party members. Mastering classes also unlocks skills. Those are shared, no matter what class you are. Arts however, are tied to weapons.
I feel like Drifter can become a very potent class to go back once you acquired the desired Skills and Arts because it's the only class to have 5 skill slots, opening up many combinations. The downside being that it offers no natural bonuses like the others.
Drifter is endgame stuff, the stat bonuses are so small they don't matter at all tbh.
Yeah. I fully completed Galactic Knight so next I'm going to find a class with a ranged weapon I like and master it. That Photon Saber really does work.
does anyone know how to open the safe in molten hollow?

i did the mission with briggs and stuff in this cave and there's 0 hint as to where the 4th key is
It comes up in a later quest after a certain species immigrates.
You'll know the one.
immigrate to the planet or NLA? cause i've already had a few somewhat immigrate into NLA

[sp]L was suppose to be a bad guy since he was suppose to actually be Lucifer[/sp]
[sp]L was suppose to be a bad guy since he was suppose to actually be Lucifer[/sp]
Yeah I can see that, [sp]especially after that mission intro cutscene where it shows that Ganglion guy talking on the ship about how some guy was trustworthy and shit, and the first thing it shows right after that is L and Lao, who they've also established is disappearing and leaving his squad to fend for itself. Don't know where that's all going since I have been too busy with my Skell to actually do anything else in the story.[/sp]
[editline]10th January 2016[/editline]
Fighting big ass tyrants in a Skell is so much fun. Just pulling out beam whips and swinging giant shoulder mounted broadswords and firing rockets and railguns while sliding around is great.
I'm kinda torn on the music. Some of it I really like, like the battle music that tends to play while fighting dangerous enemies, or the music that plays occasionally in Oblivia. But then of course there is whatever the hell I'm hearing in NLA.
But [sp]Lucifer wouldn't be a bad guy in a Takahashi game, he'd be the main hero.[/sp]
Speaking of story, I hope if a sequel does take place in the same setting they take advantage of all these alien races to give us some neat party members. A zaruboggan who focuses on debuffing enemies, removing debuffs from allies and converting it to healing/buffs and either benefits or is immune to weather/terrain effects for instance, or another Heropon would be great fun to play with.
I just picked up the game today and so far it's pretty good! if anyone wants to play online (not sure how it works in this game) feel free to add me r0b0tman5
I'm liking it a lot, but are enemy drops for quests just non-existent? I've been trying to get a Suid Filet for the better part of an hour now.
Use your reward tickets on enemy generic drops
Seriously
