Got my first dorf casulty in the first fort I made. The dorf chopped down a tree onto himself, breaking his leg and knocking him out cold :P
So you can die of thirst now and you can't rehydrate yourself by drinking the blood smears off your body.
Shit survival just got 10x more difficult in adventure mode

If you're in a snowy environment you can pick up snow and heat it at a camp fire for water. In pretty much any other place you should be able to find water easily.
Alright, trying my hand at this game again.
IIRC, before I barely had a fortress running, time to see how i'll do going in blind.
Also cutting peoples necks off ONLY CUTS OFF THE NECK. They have their head attached still but they somehow have a severed neck.
oh boy
Reached human capital city in order to challenge the King to a fair duel (storming in and chopping his head off)
Got suddenly ambushed in the middle of the city by what seems like one goblin
Friendly fella starts talking to me and agrees to join my party
A split second later 10 other goblins jump in and fill us both with arrows, get my head bashed in a turn later
i dont understand but ok ????
Splinterz has posted "and so it begins" on the most up to date Therapist thread. It took 2-3 days last time, so hopefully it will be done before the week is up.

The forums are a bit patchy, traffic is high as expected, DF has grown a lot.
On another topic, wouldn't be surprised if donations to Today multiplied by 3 this month. Notice the build up to June, ignoring April.
June: $4938.74
May: $3705.91
April: $6428.15
March: $3606.70
February: $2803.99
Will be interesting to see.

In my headcanon, the head's just held on by a sliver of skin or something. I mean, their neck's technically gone.
I happened to conjure up this idea when I barged into a goblin house (not a war camp or a settlement or anything, just a goblin cabin in the woods) and slaughtered a goblin family.
Turns out it's easy to find new ways for things to die when they don't fight back :v:.

I just slaughtered a tower of helpless goblins, they didn't even have weapons.
they screamed in terror the whole time as is tore them to bloody ribbons.
I feel bad about this.
wow that was easy.
Died like 4 times trying to kill low level bandits, 5th time immediate claim the site as my own and murder the lady of the castle in front of guards who don't interfere with me slowly chopping her upper body and cutting her head off with my mighty axe.

LONG LIVE ANGERLIVING (should have spent more time actually picking out a cool name but I didn't think it would work)

Oh my god, wait. taking over a site actually lets you bring people to become hearthpersons! This is amazing!

hmm this might also be a bug... I asked this guy if he would help me overthrow myself and he doesn't seem interested.

I assume you found dark pits/trenches?
those places are really weird, I don't really understand them

In my times here I've learned not to question what dwarves are and aren't capable of doing.

it was just a dark fortress.
[editline]8th July 2014[/editline]
Tried to do a mid attack counter and crashed, fuck.
So I was testing arena, I decided to jump into magma and see what happens if I try talking about the weather, all he says is: " It's Scorching Hot today!" :v:

The same precision that marksgoblins must have to be able to shoot out a molar from 30m
Holy fuck it has been out since yesterday? gib l8s
just loaded my save from last night and it crashes immediately after unpausing
well okay game i didn't want to make a fortress there anyways
are crabs just juggernauts or what? i was playing as a crab in the test arena and took down 8 dwarves like it was nothing.

Seems like a nice neighborhood...
I think either armour or undead might be screwed. I was testing the new combat options in the arena with some steel and leather armour guys against some reanimated corpses, and the zombies are biting straight through metal gauntlets and exploding people's noses with kicks through their helmets. Or are DF zombies are serious fuckers?
I think DF zombies just don't fuck around
[editline]8th July 2014[/editline]
Although biting straight through metal gauntlets doesn't sound quite right, even for DF
Im in a completely destroyed capital city where the roving patrols are all... friendly... olm man vampire blow-gunners. I keep getting "ambushed" and when I talk to them they just advise me not to go out at night or the boogymen will get me. I like this place!
I just have this mental image of a band of ridiculously powerful creatures - like dragons or something - stopping you and going "Man, don't be out here at night. There is some crazy shit out here at night."
Freezing deletes bodies. Fun.
It's always done that.
So my new hammerman did not like my crossbowman, and they started a fight. This is spectacular.
[editline]8th July 2014[/editline]
Oh shit they just drew weapons, it's getting real
So do dorfs just climb on their own? Or is there a labor attached to it?
Absolutely twatted that bowman who spat at me a travelling dwarf maceman was watching the brawl and I recruited him after I knocked the bowman out.
dammit, apparently the crossbowman was the one at fault, because my maceman chased him down after he killed the hammerman, and they killed each other. I have no more companions now.
I took over a couple sites in adventure mode. I killed the lady and claimed site which was cool but then I went into another town and tried to kill their leader and take over but his guards were shooting my legs so I bailed and went back to my kingdom to see a dwarven lord! I told him all about how many leaders I'd killed and tried to force him to pay allegiance to my name which he refused. I tried to intimidate him into giving me some of his coins which he also refused so I tried politely asking him to become one of my loyal citizens. I decided to murder him with my axe while his guards watched from another room (having already witnessing me killing the lady the last time I was there). I successfully butchered his corpse and took a nap because I couldn't talk to any of the guards since they were all laying submissive and presumably terrified. The next day I got them to join me as citizens and as followers to help with quests before continuing to take over more hamlets.
The only issue is that they are CONSTANTLY spitting on me. I woke up from my sleep to have one of them spit on me and call me a murderer then politely greet me and tell me to be careful. We continued on our adventure with a backpack full of prepared dwarf meat and intestines only to be getting spit on by everyone every time I get near. Oh well once I kill some more people they'll have some respect.

this guy is talking to a cat
So what I gather from this update is that now dwarves (and the local wildlife) are compulsive climbers, bipolar and spit on others constantly. Have they ever spat from the tops of trees?
Have they ever spat from the tops of trees?
And has this killed anyone yet?
